I still love flying this plane in msfs just like I did in p3d. So many real world flights as a passenger back in the day on delta flights. My only gripe with the plane is nothing against Leonardo. It’s just the fact that in real life the ND is so small that it can get cluttered easily. But nothing that’s a big problem. I think if the developer had sales more often it would draw more people to the plane

I'm not sure what this means. Is the ND bigger in MSFS or is there less detail available to fill the screen such as wpts apts etc? 

I’m talking about the plane in real life. The screen itself is small. But lots of information. An approach and go around displaying can quickly clutter it 

I see a lot of the usual comments about sounds (FTSim+ released a pack two years ago) but nothing regarding the 2024 beta. I haven’t bought 2024 yet - has anyone tried it out?

I don't have it, but my understanding is that the 2024 beta has the same sounds as the 2020 version. An upgrade with updated sounds will come at a later date.

yes agree with post a few above.  Sounds unchanged with this 2024 beta.  As of now the best available is the FTSIM.  Immersive Audio is working on one as we speak.  In fact youtube previews are kicking around.  

My friend flew MD80th for American until they retire it. He absolutely love it! He said flying maddog was very satisfactory as for pilot aspirations!  

This aircraft with A2A, is the reason why I still have MFS installed. For me it is one of the great jewels of any simulator. 

People complain that it is expensive and it really is not. The plane keeps improving since it came out just like the Phoenix guys do, the difference is that it is clearly not a best seller and so much dedication should be priced accordingly.

While I love the aircraft for all it charms, please don't gaslight people into thinking their complaints aren't valid. It is expensive, especially for what you get in comparison to what other developers bring to the table when presenting a whole aircraft, including sounds, textures, modelling, FM, animation and systems modelling.

No amount of rationalizing the potential thousands of hours you get out of the plane so it's, "cheap in the long run" will change what the upfront cost is. Even more so, that that cost will go up to bring the plane up to spec in areas it falters(A spec we have yet to even see previews of

You're being disingenuous, while Leonardo has released features like better GSX support and SI CPDLC support, outside of that its just been bugfixes, in the mean time Fenix has completely revised it's texture wraps to be less VRAM intensive while retaining fidelity. Introduced atmospheric sound modelling, introduced revised lighting and two different external lighting sets. Just off the top of my head. Leonardo has not provided any updates to areas outside of the FM and systems modelling in the same time.

I unfortunately haven't found the time. I know the V-1 is trying to get his forum account activated so he can fly it in FS24.

Isn't it still the most expensive addon for 2020/2024 till today?

System wise it's very, very good, yes. That code is ported over since FS9?

But sound, textures and modelling is not for todays standards. Not even good for P3D standards back then.

 

It's more a hate and love relationship with that addon.

Leonardo from day 1 in MFS is a superb product very few developers in this world can say the same. The only product in MFS that is at the same level for me is FSLabs.

I own the product, its the aircraft I fly the most often, however if we measure the completness of a payware aircraft solely by it's system modelling then products like Aerowinx would be just as popular as Fenix and PMDG.

Though based on your response, it looks like you skimmed over rather, than fully read what I said, as it's not acknowledging any of the critical portions of what I said. I didn't saythe Maddog is a bad product, however there is a lot of things that are pretty unacceptable for the price it's asking. If you're so blinded by your love for it that you can't rationally asses the product then I genuinely see no point in trying to reason with you.

I honestly have trouble rationally convincing people on whether the maddog is worth it. It’s nearly 90EUR (for some) however the only thing worth that money is its flight model and systems modelling. Good to hear. I have also read your most recent posts (today as well) and still find myself intrigued. I watched a video of a pilot years ago on why they love the plane (the video is posted above) and I still love that video. All of the quirks etc. I love the older planes and I am still considering getting it. From a financial standpoint? Probably not the best idea. Maybe with a discount lol. I am holding off any purchases for a while (unless Black Square re-releases their caravan or bonanza). Still, this plane is going to remain on my to-buy-eventually-list. As you can see, I have a ton of planes already. Does it have windshield wiping effects when raining? Just curious.

I heard the sounds from youtube video and they're alright to me, comparing videos from a pilot perspective. I love older airliners because there is so much more workload as opposed to modern planes, I feel. This is why the 146 and Avro are my favorites.

I am mostly interested in the simulated experience of the plane, workload/systems, ATC (got that already), some AI traffic,  improved weather and maybe improved textures. Thankfully 2020 and the mods I own give me all of that already. 2024 is getting there.

Thanks for posting and being honest about this. This is rare on this site as people just post/bash etc.
