Right now I prefer the Maddog 2010 (for FS9) sounds. It's strange, but I can perfectly hear the A/T doing their stuff. Not so in MSFS or even P3D (yep, I have it for all sims 😂) In their page: "We’re excited to confirm that the Maddog X will be coming to FS2024 as a native upgrade and it's just behind the corner. Best of all, this upgrade will be provided free of charge to FS2020 Maddog customers". No fees them What @Luis Hernandez is referring to is not the initial free MSFS 2024 upgrade but the enhanced 3D models and sound that will be coming later. This optional enhancement will not be free, but pricing has not yet been announced.
December 5, 20241 yr Hopefully they'll mention more details but I wonder if as part of the "native upgrade" they'll look into adopting the new ground handling/physics, new CFD flight dynamics, and other 2024-specific features. Likely not in the first go as it's more likely what @martinboehme suggests. Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD
December 5, 20241 yr I don't know, man. That upgrade should be free considering how much they charged for what was essentially a P3D port, visually. Give the free upgrade and generate new sales with marketing hype. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.
December 5, 20241 yr Why not to be clear? If they say native upgrade and free they could be more transparent and just say: Will be a version compatible for free and another optional "native" version. No more fees for me as a loyal old maddog customer so them. That is dissapointed, not the developers choice, the unclear post for we simmers employ our time speculating about fees or not upgrades fees. The only thing that is always pristine clear is my credit number card.

I love the older planes (DC6 would be great if it wasn't so buggy all the time). The best plane in MSFS hands down and the only one I fly now.....Over 500 hours in it. Its one of the only planes that doesn't feel like a paper airplane in the sim and has a real sense of "weight" - plus it takes work and skill. I love hand fIying departures and approaches in it - with auto throttles off (though not for T/O as you will get flame-outs if the engines are remotely over worked) I don't see the thrill in simming to just push a few buttons here and there. Honestly the cockpit textures don't bother me one bit; I think its one of the nicer and more interesting looking cockpits with a real sense of depth to it - and who doesn't love it's million different types of switches and buttons! The BAe146 is my favourite plane in the whole world as that is the first plane I ever rode on as a kid. It was the MSFS plane I was most looking forward to and sadly the sim version is just not great to fly in my opinion and the cockpit just feels blah and flat for some reason.

You're not the only one who says this, and I do not understand where it comes from. The minute you flip the external power breakers, you hear noises. You hear the clackers, you hear fans, you hear alarms, etc. When you start the engines, you hear them. Yes, they get quiet once you're moving because that's what the real plane did. They were not called a "Whisperjet" for nothing. Personally, I'm glad Leonardo hasn't bowed to the pressure from people who have no idea what the plane is supposed to sound like, and has instead kept the plane sounding like what it's supposed to sound like. The main complaint, at least for me, are the sounds in the back of the cabin and exterior. I currently use the FTsim sounds for some added punch. Leonardo is planning a sound upgrade in the near future, and there is another sound developer (Immersive Audio) that is working on a sound pack. The quality of your speakers or headphones will also affect your perception of how good you think the sounds are as well. The maddog’s atmospheric sounds are great, no complaints there. However their idea of engine sounds are just way off from all points in the aircraft, in the flight deck, cabin or on the exterior. This has been a valid complaint since P3D, they’re terrible, point blank. Especially at this price point.

A lot of airlines had (from what I can recall) slightly different setups, even from the same plane. Some of our known plane developers "take" from what planes are available and model them with what they physically can. Some, can't model them physically and have to find different ways. I think 95% is really good for flight sim considering JF planes are probably some of the best in existence for MSFS 2020 and 2024 right now. 10 hours ago, Lucky38i said: The maddog’s atmospheric sounds are great, no complaints there. Wondering if it would be worth finally getting the maddog now? I am ok with the sounds. Would getting teh maddon now mean it wouldn't cost anything when they merge it over to 2024? January 28, 20251 yr I installed it yesterday, but when entering Departure or Arrival Airport in the MCDU I get "NOT IN DATABASE". I have updated to Navigraph Airac cycle 2501. I have tried to uninstall the Navigraph navdata, but to no avail. Everything else seems to work. I can import Simbrief flightplans, which then also shows the correct Dep/Arr Airports, but I cannot select any SID/STARS. Note! My MSFS2020 install of the MD-82 works flawless. Leonnardo is working on a free comparability updated for 24. So yes if you buy now you’ll get a free patch for 24 (it’s actually in open beta). Leonnardo is always working on a paid update to revise the modelling, textures and sounds that will be a paid upgrade. I honestly have trouble rationally convincing people on whether the maddog is worth it. It’s nearly 90EUR (for some) however the only thing worth that money is its flight model and systems modelling. I especially find it worse so that to bring the plane to a spec that would constitute its price tag, we're now having to pay more on top of the already high price tag. With that in mind it’s a very unique plane to configure and fly. It’s pretty unintuitive in its button placement with everything scattered everywhere. Quite frankly I love its ridiculousness and often fly it because of this. if you want something “new” it won’t disappoint but it’s price tag is hard to swallow especially with the upcoming paid update. with that in mind I leave it in your hands to decide if that’s something worth it to you.
