DLSS Ghosting Fix

Is there any factual fps increase from grabbing a new dll for use in native frame gen in MSFS?  I have not got a new DLL just because it seems like placebo but if there is a verifiable fps increase I'd do it.

I believe MSFS2024 did come with the latest DLL for framegen, the DLSS is the one that’s outdated.

It BSOD'd your system?

Yes ... screen gone black, nothing further happened. Had to press PC power button.
Maybe a coincidence, who knows, but haven't had a BSOD since a long time now, since years.

Just tried this with a 4080 and 4K. VRAM goes through the roof and my sim is not smoother, not less stutters. Image quality is good using secondary scaling 2.0 and DLSS Performance, but that is already it. Disadvantages are bigger, back to DLSS Quality, Preset F and DLSS Swapper. The remaining amount of ghosting I take anyway over the issues this secondary scaling introduces.

BTW: the creator of the video already somehow mentioned in one of the comments that it might not be suitable for 4K resolution. No idea why it should has any impact what the starting resolution is, but still. It might be that using the "trick" on 4K is too much to handle even with 24GB VRAM. Who knows...

Thanks for this, saves me a bunch of time testing 🙂

Amigos,

1. If you are using FG, upgrading Dlss to 3.8 does not make any sense, as in this version FG is bundled in single dll with the basic dlss. It will not be used at all by FS, which expects the dlssg file

2. This secondary scaling has nothing to do with Dlss. It was there in FS2020 settings before dlss was even a thing. What you are essentially doing by this is making FS to upscale the rendered image to 2x the resolution in post processing, and it's probably hardly optimised, I guess it's even worse than using DSR. Check the dev mode to see.

3. Personally I can't stand the never ending rambling of this island Sim pilot guy, he makes a 30 minutes video about whether AutoFPS works with fs2025, painfully explaining what AutoFPS does and only saying that it doesn't work like 25 min in the video. He's worse than the geologist from Bing Bang Theory. And his "fixes" are mostly computer voodoo.

4. There are couple of folks on this forum with deep technical knowledge, take advice from them.

🙂

Tried it last night and just like previous 'fixes' of using DSR to have a higher resolution available it destroyed performance on my 3080ti. Tried 2x, 1.5 and 1.2x and performance is not acceptable. At 2x I get TWO fps.  Cpu is 7800x3D and 64 Gb of DDR5 memory. My native resolution is 4K and all DLSS modes just didnt work as smooth as I like. nVidia / Asobo need to fix this properly

I can't stand this snake oil clickbaint videos. You actually do more damage by applying these so called "hacks". Yes, you get rid of the blurriness but you literally kill all the performance gains you get with DLSS. You might as use TAA and just lower a few in-game settings. It'll be a better experience.

Are you on 11H2? I needed to reinstall Windows while keeping ally apps etc.....and after that my BSOD stopped. Updating my windows was causing my system getting unstable some weeks ago.

No worry...you can keep all settings and apps....

Sfc scan now etc didn't solved it....

They abound here on Avsim because people seem to think re-posting much of this garbage benefits us!

All of these flight sim YouTubers have one goal in common! Views that generate revenue.

Much the same as all of the so called influencers that tell us they know better than us!

I won't watch the video as I originally thought it would be something that trades one thing for another as so many similar videos like it do!

I'll give a try tonight. I only need to remember to jump to 3:50 and 6:10 in the video 😂

Tested it. Didn't work at all, still ghosting in my 1080p monitor. Back to TAA.

Irrelevant if you have a 4k?

If im not mistaken?

Sorry but nothing can compare TAA in terms of image quality

Getting rid of DLSS bluriness by doubling the resolution and crippling your performance?  Whats the point?  That is no fix at all.  Might just as well use TAA.

Funny thing is, if you point it out to them, they get really defensive and make all sorts of bogus claims.

Also, you'd think Nvidia, the company on the planet with the largest market cap, with some of the brightest tech minds employed, wouldn't keep using the default values if that single line magical fix was supposedly so much better.
