Beyond 10 miles

... how about fixing the lighting and resolution of buildings from greater distances?

You think that is an LOD problem? I would much rather they fix this LOD problem first.

I don't have to be 13 miles away. 13 feet is sufficient.

My point is... that of all of the things to get worked up about in this simulator, what you believe is an "immersion killer" is a small blip on my radar compared to looking at a plane with no interior from 13 feet away.

Not being able to not see perfectly clear distant horizons, I believe, is much further down the list of "important" issues for most folks, the vast majority of who seem to find the horizons perfectly acceptable, even with obvious room for improvement.

Perhaps what you currently seek is not properly possible yet from a technological point of view? Are there numerous examples of what you seek having been achieved by others so that we can reference these example to Asobo to demonstrate where they can improve? Have you considered the fact that you might just be tilting at windmills at the moment?

Must be 2024, I have never seen anything like that in 2020.

No comments, I am staying out of this one.

I recommend reading the initial OP post again. Absolutely nothing wrong there.

There was plenty wrong there and why the thread got so long and confused.  A blanket statement was made - 'realizing that both MSFS 2020 and 2024 look dismally and universally bad. But before you go bunkers, please let me try to explain why. While both simulators look great within a short distance, anything beyond 10 miles looks unrealistic and distorted. This is also true with maxed-out graphics settings and a 4K OLED resolution monitor.

Clearly this is not stating facts.  MSFS can look sharp as far as the visibility allows - I myself have a 4K OLED monitor so I know this to be correct.  It  turns out what he meant was SOME areas of the earth in MSFS look poor, which most of us would agree with. He will just have to get used to the fact the whole earth is not yet scanned in such a way that would please him or the rest of us.

If he was clearer at the start, the thread would have been short with many likes going his way.

You need to be clearer what you mean here.  Are you stating some horizons are poor, or every horizon in both sims?  I do indeed find the horizons acceptable, but I just don't fly in areas with really poor textures.

Which sim, which aircraft, PC specs in your signature?

Sharing a commentary via this venue is hopelessly pointless, especially considering the insular nature of some individuals on this platform.

Most of the thread was understanding what your point actually was.  My experience bears no resemblance to yours, so one has to try and find out what you actually meant.  How about some screenshots or videos of your problem?

A referee has joined our discussion to bring about some  order and peace on this New Year’s Eve.

In my Jumanji simulator 2024 you only see trees. Monkeys from Gibraltar can reach France without touching the ground as in the prehistory of the Iberian peninsula.

Cannot you read? In what terms should I explain MSFS 2020 and 2024 render an unrealistic horizon at distances beyond 10-12 miles.  In other words, it is blurry in big cities and flat terrains! I have explained this a million times and shared a series of pictures and you’re still asking me what I mean by blurry horizons? Let’s try some synonyms here: foggy, unclear and hazy!

This, after you said 'Attacking people because they have a different point of view about how they see things in MSFS is the definition of attention-seeking behavior.

We can all read, but what you are complaining of is changing all the time.  Started of with horizons and now photogrammetry is in the frame.  Photogrammetry is known to not be perfect and some areas are better than others.  You just need to get used to the fact this is the level of technology we are currently at. You need some patience.

My absolute favourite place to fly is in the UK Midlands area.  Take off from ENGM (Leeds and fly south to the city) and see if that is the level of terrain and horizon you are after.  A recent flight of mine.  If you think this is still not good enough for you, maybe try a different sim?

Just to verify which sim (2020) in the video and is the distant (10 miles out) a milky gray and in focus?

I only looked at New York city so far.
