Aside from the various regressions from 2020 we've already inherited (several of the handcrafted airports, eg FACT, seem to be "systemdisabled" and freeze the sim if activated, for example), and the strong possibility of 2024 SUs breaking working code as well as providing fixes, I suspect we'll all be here going through a similar scenario in 2028, or whenever the next iteration comes along.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of 2024 and I've only used 2020 a couple of times since 2024 came out. But it irritates the h*ll out of me a lot of the time as I keep discovering little failures and bugs that just strike me as totally avoidable if they'd been concentrating. I'm not interested in the "behind the scenes" issues or reasons for why it got released in this state, it just contains far too many sloppy little errors.

And I have to say, I will be trying very hard in future not to buy stuff from the Marketplace. I've probably bought well over 1000 addons for 2020, and I have avoided the Marketplace where possible. I've tended to impulse-buy when I see something on a really good offer, or if there's something that's only available on there. Reason not being any sort of anti-MS thing, I just prefer to have my addons more firmly under my control. I've probably got between 50 and 70 addons from MS, and now all of those are in this strange limbo-land with 2024, waiting for MAsobo to sort out how they're going to handle the Marketplace and streaming/downloading issues. Not good.

But meanwhile, I'll enjoy using 2024 for what it's good for (for me), low and slow exploration in areas where the scenery lives up to the pre-publicity (which is by no means everywhere). In such cases it really does live up to the sales pitch.

Not exactly no, still no word on SU16 for 2020 either but I think we can all guess why that is...!

Probably sometime after MS/Asobo meet their 2025 quarter budget. So far nobody knows.

Does anyone when SU 1 will be released,   It seems this update is a huge stumbling block for MSFS2024 developers to move forward.

All horror tales and sour grapes aside...we have to be very thankful MS and Asobo continue to support 2020 while 2024 matures.  I don't pay for them operating servers and I appreciate that!  I've certainly got my money's worth cubed over these 4+ years.   It's so good now w/ the various add-ons to round out the basic package I have no need to install 2024 even though I bought it right before launch.  I look forward to installing some day to revisit GA flying.  Just added BATC on top of SLC and APL and continue having a blast!
