I've been flying it since November and have never returned to the PMDG 737. No problems at all, except as mentioned above that it is impossible to load fuel and passengers from Simbrief

I've tried the PMDG a couple of times since I bought the iFly but every time I do I walk away mad that I wasted my time. I will say that the PMDG does have some unique characteristics since the last update - like the flightdirector that seems to be in an epileptic fit.

There’s nothing wrong with the ifly7, I’ve been flying it for 2 months without any issues… very very stable aircraft, I don’t understand why your having problems… funny how one plane works for one per

  • Nothing wrong with the plane, you just need to learn how to use it.

  • Ok. You should stick to PMDG then. No big deal if you can’t learn something new, lots of people have trouble with that.

This doesn't happen in MSFS because, well, it can't - there's no way for the flight model to accomplish it

Thanks for a great post. I think this would be a very interesting conversation in a different forum here. I will always believe that anything is possible with software if you can access your target application without barriers. If the MAX in msfs cannot handle any differently to the NG due to sim flight model api restrictions then there is no logical reason to code an MCAS simulation. That does kinda open a can of worms though.

Once again thx for the high quality response!

Good Video on quick startup from Cold and Dark plus weight and balance with EFB.

whereas the PMDG is beyond simple.

That's right it's so simple it doesn't even have an on/off button, and when you move the brightness slider back to low and 'save settings' it doesn't.  Very simple, simplistic, lame by comparison to say that freeware FBW 320nx.

MY third day flying the Max with about 6 flights so far done so far. Flying from KDET to KCLT.  In Vnav, on autopilot, descending from F320, and passing 17,000 and the Max suddenly does into a 45+ degree pitchdown, followed by overspeed warning, and within a few seconds, hits the ground.  And I read the manual, all 4 of them, but they didn't cover AP pitching the aircraft straight down at 276 knots...  Sounds like the MCAS went beserk, I guess. 😉

Maybe look at what key assignment is bind to your pitch controls. It would pitch up on me then stall. When I rechecked my key assignments I found a key assigned to trim that I never assigned. Since I removed it never had anymore issues

Wasn't touching any keys or controls, sitting there watching the auto pilot fly the plane.

Just flew the same flight again on APLV2, and flight was perfect, no issues.

I get where you're coming from—I think you are PMDG-biased. Don't take it as an insult, I used to be PMDG-biased too. After years of flying their products, I got comfortable with their quirks and handling. When I first tried the iFly MAX, it felt off. I was hyper-focused on every little difference, subconsciously holding it to PMDG’s standard. But the more I flew it, the more I realized just how solid it is. In fact, even in its early state, it’s ahead of what PMDG offered at launch with their MSFS 737. Good system depth, so nice to handfly, top notch visuals and sounds... I wish they could ditch that Boeing EFB (not even IRL operators wanted them) for something more user-friendly.

Glad you had a smooth flight! Hopefully, you don’t feel like you just spent $70 on a bad add-on.

Actually, the few issues I had, are gone for the most part, and I agree, it is a much more realistic aircraft than the PMDG.

Hey Bob, I'm looking fwd into having it for FS 2024 then ! That's great !

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

It's great to have alternatives in MFS and other simulators to PMDG maybe it will be when it comes out by 2024 I will buy it too.

I would like to get this and have been following this discussion avidly. However, it will have to be once its released for 2024. I don't want to keep two simulators on my HD so that's on me, I know, lol.

Something I just noticed, on a rainy day in KORD, the iFly 737 Max wipers actually sweep the rain off the windscreen.
