March 2, 20251 yr I've been considering that. How much time does it cut off though? Does a 4 hr flight become only 2?

March 2, 20251 yr I haven’t done an overnight sleep while it flies flight for a while, but it’s a good option particularly if you’re doing an overnight eastbound transatlantic departure which is all overnight. Honestly, power consumption when flying while I’m not in front of the computer or at pause at TOD is the furthest thing from my mind. I’m looking at how can I squeeze flights in where I can. I highly doubt my computer power consumption for MSFS would be noticeable on my power bill versus all the other power draws in my house. March 2, 20251 yr Can someone please test for if: Start with engines off, load flight plans & weights… Then use short cut in EFB to start airplane/take-off cockpit state. Does the airplane reset? Does the flight plan erase? Thank you A. Does the airplane reset? Does the flight plan erase? Thank you I do that pretty much every flight. Here are my shortcuts: ctrl-e energizes battery and allows you to energize pad. Once pad is up, turn on APU now import SB FP with INIT. Complete all required tasks on preparation for flight Once ready to taxi/takeoff select ready for takeoff pad. Two min later or so you’re good to go. YMMV TANSTAAFL -B
March 2, 20251 yr First time booting the A350 after the latest update. I did clear the WASM files so starting fresh. The results after the patch are fairly positive for me. The exterior model no longer looks all washed out and lacking detail. I can now see details like cargo doors and other minor details seem to stand out now. Inside the cockpit I see more detail but I can't say what they improved exactly. Its still not at the level of iFly or Fenix but is improved over version 1.0. One thing I am very happy is I can now program a simple Direct To in the FMC. For some reason this function was just not working in version 1.0 but now it is. I know its bad but because of time constraints sometimes I just put something into Direct To and set the AP to fly me to my destination. Right now I can't comment on how it flies since I did not take it up for a spin but I did not have any major complaints about the flight modeling before. Some complaints out there about it being overpowered and it liked to leap off the runway. If you just hop in and take off with zero payload and 50K pounds of fuel the real thing would be pretty sporty as well. I found that when I dialed in some payload and a meaningful amount of fuel it was actually fairly heavy as it should be. I did have a look at the payload manager. So far still a bit goofy here. No matter what Zero Fuel Weight I input I can't seem to get a full load of passengers as least in the manager. I like it better if you can just toggle the number of passengers in each section and it does all the other stuff for you. Fuel loading seems to work as advertised except on my inaugural flight from ATL to LAX I loaded 100K pounds of fuel. All was well and when I was overflying ABQ I had 45K lbs of fuel remaining. However randomly it reset itself to 100K pounds of fuel again. Hopefully I don't see that issue again and it was just me doing something by accident. I also did not check out taxiing the airplane but I am sure that is broken. For me I still use the keyboard for taxiing and that is the 0 and ENTER keys on the keypad. I can steer normally except the 5 key does not seem to center the nose gear like it does on every other airplane in the FS World. Overall its a solid update but it will need a few more to get there. Hopefully the contrail issue is fixed in this update or soon. I do feel its ready for my next flight which will be LAX to SYD. At the moment I am using FS2020. I am not anti FS2024 for the most part and have had some solid experiences in FS2024. However I am not participating in the beta so just waiting for that to go official. Also kind of waiting for more of my planes to be working in FS2024. Once everything is ported over officially I will likely be just about ready to retire FS2020.....but not yet!

As a family home we currently have around 12-14t kWh per yeah, so coming to around 3500-4000€ per year. I have pretty much power usage at home, running server, home cinema, electrical car, electrical heating, A/C, so yeah, I do care if I run my computer for "nothing". 8 hours ago, Tuskin38 said: I have lower rates on the weekends, that's when I do it. During the week days I do shorter flights or increase the sim rate. I also only do one long haul a week. But why don't you speed it up? You actually have two advantages of that: you can still look at the scenery, which I am actually interested in when flying over other parts of the world (which I would miss being away, and of course only if it's day in the sim) and you save on power costs. Maybe I just don't see any advantage over running 1x when not at computer. Edited March 2, 20251 yr by Simon_C
March 2, 20251 yr There is something psychological about feeling you've done a flight in real time vs time acceleration, even if you aren't physically present.
