Sim Update 2 Beta Released

Xbox doesn’t support VR and that’s why they’re not scrambling and using tons of resources to update it. I’m glad to see you guys have at least gotten some attention to your preferred method of simming. I just think MS isn’t going to throw a ton of money at it since they don’t even support it on Xbox.

There are very major VR upgrades in SU2. Foveated Rendering. Also, dynamic foveated rendering is almost ready to add. Better overhead bar and EFB, although still not good enough.

And in 2D we now have native DLSS4, no more doing lots of steps to get it. Although they are using preset J, and odd choice I think. Why not use K?

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

I think a lot of the issues stem from addons. An internal QA team will test a completely clean install to make sure nothing obvious breaks out of the box. Afterwards it's exactly what the public beta

Just a heads up all, additional release notes containing the stuff we (WT) did for this currently available SU2 release are now available at https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sim-update-2-beta-1-4-

By the way, it was Pimax that teamed with Asobo to add foveated rendering in MSFS (for all headsets, not just Pimax headsets). Online presenters report 6 to 14 more fps with foveated rendering. 8 or so being most common.

The Asobo FR is applied natively when you turn it on, so it does more fps improvement than using later in the chain FR (such as OXR toolkit, or Pimax Play).

Im not a computer tech type guy but, I just don’t understand how so many people could have so many problems with same piece of software 🤔

Super smooth so far. One thing I did notice is the planes I have tested have no exterior lights. This includes the Caravan.

So many variables. I have never seen my PC work so smoothly. Had to lock FPS at 72 to minimize heat issues, but it wanted to go 120+. That patch yesterday fixed a my CTDs. At least today.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

I had to go back to 566.36 driver to get a stable SU2.  Some very nice updates, especially ground textures which are even sharper than SU1.  I like what they have done with the lighting too, gives a more real world quality to the lighting.

It doesn't pause the sim, and is only on the right side of the screen for a few seconds.

DLSS4 is the best improvement I have seen in any flightsim. My 3080 with the mod and the FG mod is giving me around 80fps and looks superb. This need to be native and implemented in SU 2. Preset K.

Flying the 737-max, my performance decreases during the flight.

I start with 80 fps (locked external) and during cruise this will go down to 10-20 fps.

PC is not the problem, other aircraft do not have this issue.

i7 13700K, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090.

Anybody knows how to solve this? The 737-max is getting better every update. A shame I can't land it with a good FPS rate.

Almost the same here, not to mention the right wounded wing that make it ridiculously asymmetrical.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

I've made a habit when updating beta builds and live releases.

  • Let the update run.
  • Go to app data folder
  • Empty "Scenery Indexes"
  • Empty "Cache"
  • Navigate to the "StreamedPackages" Folder and empty that.
  • Reboot the PC
  • Start the sim.

This is brilliant and saved me untold problems!

Thanks heaps!

Did it actually SOLVE problems? Or do you presume it saved you problems because you don't have any problems with SU2 (without actually knowing if that has to do with the steps you took)? I never ever cleared any of those folders and never ever had any problems with SU1 or SU2 or every update of MSFS2020 in the past.

Seems to be going well atm flying the A333 to Narita.
