May 11, 20251 yr I am looking at this graphic card for MSFS 2024. Is anybody using this card? I would appreciate feedback. Any compatibility issues? Thanks! XFX - Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900XT 20GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 Gaming Graphics Card - Black
May 11, 20251 yr I've got a RX 7900 XT and a 7900X to go with it and they handle '24 with frames to spare, although the XT runs at close to 100% most of the time so consequently temps are in the high 70s (Celsius) on a warm day. On the same day in FS 2020 temps are less than 50. It performs just a little less than a 4080 Super according to some benchmarks, but the 4080 draws a lot more power and is a bit more expensive. I'm getting mid 50s fps in most areas and into the mid 40s in high load areas, with settings set to Ultra. I find Radeon to be a pretty competitive brand nowadays. Mike Beckwith
May 11, 20251 yr 57 minutes ago, Highmike said: but the 4080 draws a lot more power This is wrong. Even the 4080S does not draw «a lot more power» than the 7900XT. And if you e.g. limit the 4080(S) to 1.000V, you wont loose a lot of FPS but power consumption stays low. I never see more than 250W in MSFS2024 on my 4080. The biggest plus for the 7900XT(X) in MSFS2024 is the big VRAM imho, as I often run out of it in 4K with my 16GB. Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024
May 11, 20251 yr I've got a 4080S sitting in my store room waiting to be used. The only reason I haven't fitted it yet is because it requires three PCIe cables to power it, so I'll have to wait until I feel like getting a suitable PSU. The three cables are the only reason why I believe it's a bit of a power hog. I couldn't tell you what the voltages are, so I'll have to acknowledge my ignorance of the matter. Mike Beckwith
May 11, 20251 yr I'm doing great with the RTX 3060 ti purchased in 2021 when I built my rig specially for MSFS which I seriously hoped would become my ONLY flightsims 🤣. I get smooth & stable 30 fps that can go up to the max my monitor gives (60Hz) using that superb Lossless Scalling 😁 Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
May 11, 20251 yr Author I did a ChatGPT and it returned with issues with this card in MSFS 2024. If you're encountering issues with the XFX Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900XT 20GB GDDR6 in Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS), there are several things you can check to resolve the problem. Here’s a list of potential causes and solutions: 1. Driver Issues Update your drivers: Ensure you have the latest AMD Radeon drivers installed. MSFS performance can be affected by outdated drivers. Go to AMD's official driver page to download the latest drivers. You might also want to try AMD's Adrenalin software to adjust specific settings for MSFS. Rollback to a stable driver: If you’re using a newer driver that caused performance issues, you could roll back to an older stable version that was known to work well with MSFS. 2. DirectX Version MSFS relies on DirectX 11 or DirectX 12. While the RX 7900XT supports both, make sure you're running the game in the correct version. You can toggle between DirectX 11 and 12 in the MSFS settings to see if one runs better than the other. 3. V-Sync and Frame Rate Settings Try disabling V-Sync or adjusting the frame rate settings in both MSFS and the AMD Adrenalin Control Panel. Sometimes, V-Sync can cause stuttering or performance drops in MSFS. You can also try setting a frame rate limit within MSFS, if you experience fluctuating frame rates. 4. Graphics Settings in MSFS Reduce graphical settings: The RX 7900XT is a powerful card, but MSFS is a very demanding game. Try lowering some of the settings like shadow quality, terrain detail, ambient occlusion, and cloud quality. Enable DLSS if available, or set render scaling to a lower percentage to improve performance. 5. Temperature and Overheating Check the temperature of your GPU during flight sessions. Sometimes, GPUs can throttle if they get too hot, causing frame drops or crashes. Use software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to keep track of your GPU temperature and ensure it’s running below the recommended threshold (usually around 85°C max for many GPUs). 6. Power Settings Make sure your system is set to High Performance in the Windows power settings. Sometimes, Windows may limit your GPU’s performance when it's in Balanced or Power Saver mode. 7. Windows Settings & Background Processes Game Mode: Ensure Game Mode is enabled in Windows 10/11, which can help MSFS prioritize system resources. Background processes: Close unnecessary applications running in the background that might affect the performance of MSFS. 8. MSFS and AMD Known Issues There might be specific issues with AMD Radeon GPUs and MSFS that are being worked on through patches. Check forums like the AMD Community or MSFS forums to see if others are experiencing similar issues and if a fix or workaround has been suggested. If none of these steps resolve your issue, could you describe the specific problem you're facing (e.g., low frame rates, crashes, artifacts, etc.)? It would help narrow down the potential cause. Can anybody comment on this? Thanks!! Edited May 11, 20251 yr by Skyseek
May 11, 20251 yr I don’t see any ChatGPT response that indicates awareness and reporting of an actual issue between the card youre talking about and MSFS 2024. May 11, 20251 yr I do have a 7900XT and it works fine. The 20GB VRAM are definitely a plus with MSFS2024. 5800X3D, 64GB 3200 RAM, 7900 XT 20GB
May 11, 20251 yr NBMS2024 doesn't have the option to use Directx 11 so the ChatGPT search, as Maxis suggests looks like a fairly generic summary of possible gpu issues. I have an Rx 7900 xtx and it performs very well, all settings on ultra at 3440x1440 ultra wide settings, with a 9800x3d cpu.

May 12, 20251 yr I bought a 7900 XT two years ago as it was the most economic way of getting 20 GB VRAM. I think that still holds up today. I've had no compatibility or driver issues with 2020 or 2024. Using FreeSync with a compatible display is highly recommended. May 12, 20251 yr I had a 7900xt for a couple of years. With Win10 it was great. When I upgraded to Win11 i had driver problems that could not be resolved enough so that i sold it and replaced it with the Nvidia570ti which works great with MSFS2020. Your mileage may vary.

Uninstall it 😆 Nah... they're all too expensive and I paid for this one more than I had ever paid for a GPU since I build my rigs for flight simulation. I was so enthusiastic about MSFS... It was in late COVID time around 4 months after the release of MSFS and it costed a little fortune. Only concession was buying from a brand I didn't even know that existed - Inno3D - because it was a little less costly, and it's very good so far 😊 This is probably the last rig I ever built for flight simulation... Runs xp12 and fs2024, but also DCS and IL2 remarkably smooth. Condor3 could easily run in a much less equipped machine, and it's still even just 32bit!!! May 14, 20251 yr Just one thought and a honest question. Can your current system handle that card without being a bottleneck. What is the point of a new graphics card if your system can't handle it? Graphics cards do bottleneck most systems these days. I have learned in the past. Edited May 14, 20251 yr by JBDB-MD80
