August 12, 2025Aug 12 3 flights with the downgrade so far. 1st sim video stopped at 100ft on landing. Sound continued. Had to use task manager to log off windows only way out. 2nd all addon airport objects and buildings were missing on landing. And taxi. Only when I gave up and parked in a marked space did the buildings pop in around me. 3rd today tried UK EGPN to EGLC. Smooth flight, OK gfx if I kept zoom wide enough but landing had the fg stutters so unflyable obviously. That's 3 strikes right there. Next flight p3d I'm missing the flying, zero stutters and high quality scenery too much with this running experiment. Russell Gough SE London
August 12, 2025Aug 12 After this upgrade once I changed my texture resolution from high to medium got my performance back and then some. Ryzen 9 9900x & Rtx 2070s.
August 12, 2025Aug 12 Just tried MSFS 2020 and won't even load now. Getting error message on the splash screen after about 30 seconds. Sad :( SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

August 13, 2025Aug 13 2020 is now locked in the hanger awaiting either future fixes, rollbacks (yeh right) or complete removal at whatever point in future the first 2 clearly won't happen. The downgrade to scenery is depressing but... Not game ending. The stability though is now so bad 2 flights out of 4 have locked windows 11 completely. The first required task manager to force log off to exit the crashed sim. The 2nd and final straw required a power button reset of my recently rebuilt and clean machine. I don't allow apps to run that compromise my work pc with hard resets PERIOD. So I'm (temporarily?) back to an older, more stable, more configurable, better looking (in addon scenery areas only) simulator for the foreseeable future. August 13, 2025Aug 13 Update working and looking great for me. Now flown several flawless flights. I will say, I took the time to install every update in the content manager even if I suspect I’ll never use them. For those having issues that might be an option to try.
August 13, 2025Aug 13 I'm sad to see some having difficulties, but on my end this has certainly NOT been a "downgrade". I'm getting the best performance I've ever had from 2020 and the scenery has been stunning everywhere I've flown so far. I don't post this to minimize the issues some have had, but simply to point out that others' experiences may be different. For me, this has been a significant and welcome upgrade. Scott
August 13, 2025Aug 13 It is a bummer for those having issues after the update, I can only say it is not a universal experience. I have found fs2020 running very well and smooth after the update and the maps scenery looks much improved IMO. This isn't to gloat about it, but just to say that folks may have some issues going on with their system/software, addons not playing nicely or something.
August 13, 2025Aug 13 Did a quick recon flight after updating. Ground textures look worse (more seams/differences in quality between areas). More stutters. Most annoying is there are now water textures on top of bridges. My default flight is from EHRD. Almost every bridge is covered with shine through water. Maybe the fact that the land lies beneath sea level is triggering something in the scenery engine? It looks horrible.
August 13, 2025Aug 13 Ok so i updated ti su16 and updated content manager. All was well for 2 days. Now i get ctd on launching ms2020. Could this be due to win 11 update?? Nvidia driver updated last week. Mike
August 13, 2025Aug 13 I'm still on an older driver (576.28) and Win10. Like you, everything was great for about 2 days, then I began getting CTDs on clicking "Fly". The CTDs would usually cycle about 3-4 times before I finally was in the aircraft. Once in the cockpit all went well. It happened again today... after 2 CTDs I decided it was time and I ran a Dism series followed by the old sfc scan. Several errors were detected, repairs were made and I rebooted. The next startup went well and the flight was good. Tomorrow is another day... Randall Rocke
