Hi Thanks for the reply

I will try and report the issue with Microsoft

It must be a very local point causing the CTD as I just loaded fine into NZPN which is something like 50 K from nelson

Thanks again for the reply.

Bob

Is that using the default NZNS or the NZI version plus their library?

Cheers

  • Hi folks, Yes, the issue that was formerly preventing MSFS (2020) from shutting down properly after exiting the sim and required manual executable termination from Task Manager is now resolved wi

  • I wish they would leave 2020 alone. It works fine now.

Because it's a server and client architecture.  Windows is not really a server and client architecture. You can use Windows without an internet connection. A lot of MSFS 2020 heavily depends on the se

Hi Thanks for the reply

I wonder what my problem may be?  To the best of my knowledge if I load into the sim in safe mode all my modes etc are disabled? so I don't think it is a mod conflict?

It also odd that BBCM has the same issue as me and his descriptor is identical to what I am experiencing i.e. sound cut out followed by a CTD.

I guess I will need to avoid the area around NSNS, at least until someone smarter than I can snuggest a fix.

Best wishes.

Maybe try a default Asobo plane if you haven't done so?

I don't know the details when it comes to the Safe Mode, but it does seem like you might be having a Community folder conflict. A quick and easy test is to rename your Community folder to back it up, and then restart the sim. The sim will create a new empty Community folder. Again load a default aircraft and see what happens.

If you are using Addon Linker, then instead of the above, just temporarily "empty" the Community folder using Addon Linker and restart the sim.

Hi Thanks for the reply

I have the NZA payware NZNS and it CTD.  So, both the default and the NZA one are CTD.

Also it is not only at NZNS I also am getting CTD at NZMK and NZKM both slightly to the West of NZNS, however NZPN which is slightly to the East on NZNS is fine?

In my way of thinking I have something in the sim which is loading when I get close to the Western side of the top on New Zealand's south Island which is causing the sim to CTD.  Note the first time I got the  CTD, I was flying from NZAA to NZCH at over 30000 feet.  Very strange

I guess for the time being I will have to treat that beautiful part of NZ as a no fly zone.

Best wishes.

Did a quick post SU16 test flight.
No complaints here, noticed a boost in performance as well.

SU16 Download/Installation was a breeze, no hiccups nor crashes.

No apparent broken addons thus far!🎉

I'm a very relaxed happy camper for now!😅

Hi

Thanks for the sugestion.

I renamed the Community folder and tried to load into the sim at NZNS, Sadly I had the same result (CTD).

So I guess for me, I will need to treat the western side of the top of the south island as a no flight zone.  At least until someone smarter than I am can suggest a fix

Best wishes.

Hi Thanks for the reply.  Please note, the first flight was from NZAA to NZCH, when I got to the top of the south island I got a CTD.  So I tried it again with the same result.  I then tried to load into NZWN, the sim loaded fine. So I tried to load into NZNS and got a CTD.  Loaded into MSFS 2020 (with safe mode)  and tried NZNS. Again I got a CTD.  So I then started MSFS 2020 in normal mode and jumped to a bunch of airports all over NZ and Australia which all loaded fine then I tried NZKM and NZMK (both small airports  at the top on South island and both times it CTD

My conclusion is that for some reason the new sim update 16 and at least my PC dont like the top on NZ south Island

I did several flights yesterday over this area before the update and all was fine.

Best wishers.

I just launched a flight at NZNS , no problem.

Just a thought – could it be a cache issue?
Try Corsten's cache and shader remover – I heard it being good practice every time a new SU comes out.

Hi Thanks for the reply

I am at a loss as to what is wrong with my sim at the moment

I am currently trying a flight from NZAA to NZCH with a flight plan to ensure I dont go to close to NZNS.  If this goes fine, I guess it will tell me that something went wrong when my sim updated to sim 16

Is there a way of verifying files?

Best wishes.

The additional downloads in Content manager are predominantly individual airports, Points of Interests and Landing challenges so they aren't mandatory at all.  POI's aren't the "actual" POI's just the labels so almost that entire additional 15Gb would have been wasted space for me personally.

Should I change from "Beta" to "none" in Steam. I havent received any download

Those reports that SU16 would degrade 2020, causing the sometimes watercolor/slightly cartoonish looking ground of 2024 appear to be overblown. Have flown a couple of flights and I don't see any big change in LOD or ground textures or performance, and if anything it looks better than before. Sim shuts down without intervention. Updates including in content manager were fast and smooth. Have been at two addon airports and they are fine, AIG traffic looks good, auto fps working. No sim settings were changed. All is well. Very happy with the update so far.
