I did have a couple days of perfect no stutter and no audio popping flights out of KSAN and over LA area when I had the rolling cache turned off, then like the 3rd day its the issues started again. Did  not change any settings. I also use dynamic LOD app and have it set to 50 on the ground then at max to 200 when at higher altitide so Im never at over 200.

It has nothing to do with cache, the issue is the sim injecting large chunks of data which causes a CPU spike and eventually the stutters.

There’s a lot of snake oil advice in this thread that I’d personally stay away from, it could end up messing up your system. There’s a massive thread on the official forums about this issue, and

Just to compare and not to brag - 2024, almost daily flights over LA, 3060TI, 5900X and never stutters.  Also 1080p with a 32gb cache. dd

Just a heads up, dont expect to reach Asobo by posting here, it would blow their cover as they pretend they never look at this place😁

and MSFS is the single most frustrating/poorly designed/half-baked one of the lot.

Considering the fact that you could probably run Microsoft Flight Simulator v1 up to 5.1 on a simulated computer within MSFS2024, e.g. on one of the screens in the Ini A350, without hampering the performance that much, this comparison is rather unfair, no?

Example: there was a Tool around for years where you could design your own plane, take whatever aircraft.cfg and go flying in your sim. Imagine this today? People start screaming "scam" if a plane with a perfect 3D model uses the default systems of a default MSFS airplane... People complain, if the beta range of a turboprop is not properly simulated, they complain about things, you could not even have dreamt of back in the early days of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Not even bringing the visual stuff into calculation...

Seems like that is pointing to issues outside your PC else you would not have had perfection if it were core to the sim.  I think it's doubtful it's the server and probably more likely something about the reliability of sustained bandwidth with your net connection.

This is probably a stupid question but do you have dynamic settings turned off? Make sure it's off

Yes always off on my machine

And once again all the speculation starts for a topic that has been beat to death.

Asobo isn't coming here to read this thread most likely as the title wishes.

There are many factors that can lead to stutters many implying what the problem is are proved wrong quite often.

There are so many variables outside of Asobo's control with hardware and the various combinations of hardware that ti imply it is simply Asobo's problem may not be correct.

Definitely in the sense that they are at the root of the problem and can fix it on there own.

Forgot to mention that my Internet speed is 600mps

Your internet speed is not the problem, I'm on 100 Mbps and so far I haven't experienced that issue or any other related to bandwidth for that matter.

Have you tried the same flight with a different aircraft other than an airliner?

Just did a flight testing out the iFly from KSAN-KPDX. Flight was smooth until landing and taxing to the gate. The sound starts cutting out and then CTD. When the sound starts cutting then I know the sim will CTD. Pretty frustrating

I have experienced this as well. It doesn't happen often but it's happened often enough for me to recognise the symptoms and start me practicing my "words not allowed" diatribe while shutting down the computer.
Just like a nagging ache you learn to live with.

Could your sim issue be related to the huge Internet outages in USA last days....(Wednesday if I recall correctly)?

And, do you have the issue also when every single time you want to sim, before firing up your sim deleting the rolling cache?

Again, all of this should not be on your side to test....but these are the things that helped me reDUcing some stutters.

the issues started again

These may be a long shot, but here are some pointers from google AI

Here's a more detailed look at potential solutions:
1. Disabling FSR3 and Frame Generation:
  • Some users have found that disabling FSR3 (Frame Generation) and other AMD tech settings like TAA can resolve the popping sound.
  • This is because these settings can put a strain on the system, potentially leading to audio glitches.
2. Tuning Bufferpool Size:
  • Some have reported success by adjusting the bufferpools setting in the UserConfig.opt file (usually found in Microsoft Flight Simulator\UserConfig.opt).
  • The suggested value is around 490MB (poolsize=490000000), but you may need to experiment to find the optimal setting for your system.
  • This setting is related to how the game manages memory, and adjusting it can sometimes improve audio performance.
3. Uninstalling Nvidia USB Audio Driver:
  • Some users have found that uninstalling the Nvidia USB Audio Driver in Device Manager resolves the issue.
  • This driver can sometimes cause conflicts that lead to audio distortion or popping.
4. Using Bluetooth Earbuds:
  • If you are using VR audio, some users have reported that using Bluetooth earbuds instead can eliminate the popping sound.
5. Disabling EXPO in BIOS:
  • If you are using EXPO (Extended Profiles for Overclocking) in your BIOS, disabling it may help resolve the issue.
  • EXPO can sometimes cause CPU spikes and other issues that can manifest as audio popping.

Just curious - how do you disable rolling cache in 2024?  Is it just a matter of setting the cache size to 0.0?

  • Author

Disable the rolling cache, create folder and point it to that folder in FS24 then exit the sim and delete the folder, don't delete the file .ccc inside but delete the folder itself. The next time you load the SIM, the path should still be there but there should be a 0 set for rolling cache
