I'm getting excellent performance on this update, the crashes are fixed and did they do something to the clouds? Looks brilliant. 777 Circuit in Sydney, FINALLY we can fly again.

Went back to SU3 beta after leaving it 3 versions back and... it just works. Everything runs, performance is superb and i hope they continue in this path. Long haul coming in tomorrow for the fin

  • Fenix works just fine. Beta does too.  A good build IMO, -B

Is the lack of any AI air traffic fixed?

Have they fixed the low FPS on Final/Approach/Landing? Think I read something in a previous patch note so 🤞 they nailed that serious issue finally.

I landed in Sydney with about 85 fps in the 777 and no stutters on landing. That's with a 3080, 19-1300k, 1440p, flytampa Sydney, FSLTL traffic and pmdg 777.

I didn't read anything in the patch notes where they fixed the clouds. Also, I know that some users in Avsim were complaining about the clouds in the latest beta, but there was no such thread in the official SU3 beta forum where users found problems with the clouds, nor such a thread where it was highly upvoted either.

It could be a placebo effect where only a few Avsim users thought the clouds got worse, because I didn't see a thread about degraded clouds in the official SU3 beta forum so the users there didn't seem to experience what a few Avsim users were experiencing for clouds.

It would not be the first time, and you could substitute 'clouds' for just about anything else 😉

They're Alive !!!! That's for sure, even if they don't appear as much as they used to - actually not really needed anyway, what matters is that the core sim continues to be supported and upgraded...

I will only get the chance to test it latter today, but for me 1.5.10.0 allowed running the IniBuilds 350 as well as the Fenix. Only the iFly 737 MAX and the PMSG 777 caused CTDs on loading a situation with either. Looking fwd to test 1.5.12.0 🤞

And in that very thread that you link, people are commenting that the clouds look good to them. For example:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/1-5-9-clouds-are-terrible/726923/19

and also this person:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/1-5-9-clouds-are-terrible/726923/24

It's not really a black and white case of a lot of people coming to a consensus that the clouds have degraded. That cloud thread has a total upvote of 21 upvotes. Compare the upvotes to the CTD issue for 1.5.10.0, which has 138 upvotes, and that thread is newer than the cloud thread you cited:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/ctd-loading-into-1-5-10-0/727551/561

The CTD issue for 1.5.10.0 is black and white, there is no dispute about it, the strong upvotes given how new the thread was created, tells me the beta testers came to a consensus (and came to it rather quickly) that there was a major CTD issue in 1.5.10.0.  For the clouds degrading, the case is so much weaker, with far fewer upvotes, especially given that the thread was created longer than the CTD thread, and even in the clouds thread, there are testers who claim the clouds are still good in the version of SU3 that they are testing.

And I already said before, if you are in SU3 and you are sure there is a degradation in clouds, take some snapshots of a specific location and altitude.  Then uninstall SU3, install SU2 ASAP, and take the same snapshots of the same location, with the same altitude and same angle.  Because it's so fast to install MSFS 2024 now, you can install SU2 very quickly, and the live weather conditions should still be very close to when you took the snapshots of SU3.  Then we can do an apples to apples comparison of SU2 vs SU3.

Until I see an apples to applies comparison of SU2 vs SU3, in the same conditions, it doesn't seem that the issue of cloud degradation is a strong case, given the low upvotes, and given in that cloud thread, various testers are claiming the clouds are just fine.

CTD fixed for me but my clouds look bad, very pixelated and shimmery. 2020’s clouds look better….

I was merely making you aware that the MSFS world doesn't revolve around AVSim and that there was clearly a thread about them even though you said there wasn't, I've also seen reports of "bad" clouds on Reddit & Discord during SU3 beta.

Just because you don't read them, doesn't mean they don't exist.

Sure, there is a thread about it, I concede that and I made a mistake.  Having said that, I am pointing out there is not strong evidence in the SU3 beta forum, that there is a cloud degradation issue by the SU3 beta testers. It seems to be a mixed response by the SU3 beta testers.  It's definitely not a clear cut, black and white consensus, like the CTD issue for 1.5.10.0 was.

I will wait for further confirmation this until I jump back on SU3 beta. And hopefully performance is now better than in the earlier builds, which was horrible on my end.
