The return of the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise has been the best thing to happen to this genre in the past 15 years

Guys.  Why do you continue to rinse, lather and repeat?  Before any more replies read the very first post and ensure your reply is topical.  Almost seems impossible this thread will not end up locked.

  • Goodness me, what does it matter this level of pedantry on something so minuscule? What do you hope to achieve here with this discrepancy?

Edit I just quoteed myself. too much fun on the 4th of July I guess.

Whatever quibbling some are trying to fixate on about Toliss "entering the MSFS market" and them abandoning XP (which no one here claimed), one can just look what Toliss themselves have said so far and decide. And based on what they've said, and given their involvement for 2 years now on this collaboration apparently, I'd say that it's way more than just licensing of their existing XP code.

1) Their website: https://toliss.com/blogs/news
As a major reveal, Aerosoft proudly announced a new Airbus A340 project, developed in collaboration with ToLiss. This project will include ToLiss's:
🛫 Deep System Simulation
🧠 Fully Custom FMGS
🛩️ Custom Flight Model
💾 Situation Save & Load

2) Twitter/X statements: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/674252-toliss-working-with-aerosoft-to-bring-their-a340-to-msfs/page/3/#findComment-5507852

3) FSElite interview: https://fselite.net/content/quick-interview-with-toliss/ (note she says "it is a way to test the waters with MSFS" 🙂)

4) Part of their presentation where they talk about the custom flight model developed with McGill university:
https://youtu.be/aaJeN86eHhg ... the fact that they're striving for sim platform independence with custom/external flight models and systems, and the time and effort they've put in so far, they definitely seem to be having longer term aspirations for MSFS.

Apart from the Toliss/Aerosoft collab, what were the other interesting or big news coming out of FSExpo? Would FSElite be the best portal to look at recordings/etc?

The upcoming Super 727 addon has got me pretty excited personally.

And he maybe correct.

Which is 1 of 5 scenarios that is nothing more that take aways, which does not mean that is rooted in law that must happen. Those are just possibilities that could happen does not mean it will if you look at the initial intent. It also says:

  • A licensing agreement allows one party (the licensee) to use and/or earn revenue from the property of the owner (the licensor).
  • Licensing agreements generate revenues, called royalties, earned by a company for allowing its copyrighted or patented material to be used by another company.

Which more or less fits the scenario better than what you are presenting as an all out desire to enter into the marketplace only. At the end of the day it is still an Aerosoft product, powered by Toliss, developed, marketed and distributed, by Aerosoft. Toliss remains as a dedicated Xplane developers who happens to be helping another developer at their request and as a result formed a partnership to allow them to receive revenue in return for licensing the use of their code.

What the intent of Toliss enter this partnership was Aerosoft coming to Toliss 2 years ago looking for help which is where this collaboration started base on this interview below.

In your own video that you cite, the lady from Toliss clearly says, "test the waters of Microsoft" at the 51 second mark.  Do you even watch your own videos?

"Test the water of Microsoft." Hmm, let me see - that means they are entering the MSFS market.

Nice catch @lwt1971!  The lady from Toliss say it right there, to "test the waters of Microsoftat the 51 second mark of the Youtube video.

It feels like we are being gaslighted sometimes from the usual suspects.

I feel like I'm back in business school. If I want go to market strategy discussions, I can do that at work.

I don't care HOW Toliss is entering - the corporate structure, the strategy, teh pricing discussions, the marketing plan.. who gives a jolly (snip)??

Here is the absolute truth

1. Toliss is coming to MSFS. Or not

2. Toliss planes will be great. Or not.

3. No one knows anything till it launches.

I want a great plane in a great sim. How it gets there is none of my business and I don't care! Can we please talk about flight sim and not business now?

Yep, FS Elite is always in the thick of this show. The in person interviews are always illuminating in one regard or another.

They have an entire section of show coverage and stuff on their site.

For me personally, the pending release of MilTech's independent Mission System is going to be very cool.

Not to mention it's attached to what looks to be one of the highest fidelity H-60 Blackhawk/Seahawk/Jayhawk add-ons ever released for ANY sim. 😁

There won’t be any Toliss-planes coming to MSFS. The plane being released will be an Aerosoft-addon. They have both been pretty clear about that point.

From the FSElite article:

Quote

Aerosoft and ToLiss Announce Partnership to Bring A340 to MSFS

In a groundbreaking announcement made on the FSElite stage during the FSExpo weekend, Aerosoft have announced they are partnering with well renowned third party developers ToLiss to bring the Airbus A340 into Microsoft Flight Simualtor...

...

By far and away the biggest story of the session though was the announcement of a groundbreaking new partnership with the much-lauded X-Plane developer ToLiss. Together, Aerosoft and ToLiss will work on bringing a feature-rich and accurate A340 simulation to MSFS. Aerosoft says they will be handling the modelling work on the addon, while ToLiss works on the systems.

It's an Aerosoft-Toliss partnership. Looks like some people don't understand the word "partnership."  Also, it looks like people don't understand the word "together."  SMH.

Has any one of you guys already called the Fenix a prosim-addon? Ask yourself why.
