What he said was about learning from history, i.e. recognizing similarities between past dynamics and current dynamics, which is not what happens on the XP forums where people (either willfully or just ignorantly, but always gleefully) misread events as rock solid evidence that MSFS is on its last legs. Even events such as adding lots of developer partners or funds investing in Asobo are, incredibly, converted to signs of doom for the platform. Pretty much all it takes is for Sparks to have some indigestion after dinner and the omens are made clear.

As MS is outsourcing development for MSFS, these layoffs are (mostly) an irrelevance, but sure, they may pull the plug in the future. And I sincerely hope XPlane is still here then. But then what happens when Austin gets sick / retires?

Some people only recognize the mirror that is held up to them very late - or not at all. Here it is ...

Personally speaking, the announcement of the A340-600 outweighed the lack of news about anything else. It is absolutely the Airbus I have always hoped for. A release date for the MSFS2024 PMDG DC-6 would have been the icing on the cake, of course, but it's the A346 I'm most excited about. 

For anyone that went to the expo and visited Winwing's booth. The entire base and railing for the full cockpit experience, was that custom made for Winwing, or is this setup something they're going to start selling?

if we get a msfs monopoly, what happens to the prizes, they skyrocket. Its good to have competition, look at what happened with nvidia. 10000 euros for 96gb model of 5090, lol. Maybe americans can afford these, i am not paying for gpu not over 1000 euros, thats it.

I focus on flying in MSFS at least 1 flight per day.  😊

Which is 1 of 5 scenarios that is nothing more that take aways, which does not mean that is rooted in law that must happen. Those are just possibilities that could happen does not mean it will if you look at the initial intent. It also says:

• A licensing agreement allows one party (the licensee) to use and/or earn revenue from the property of the owner (the licensor).
• Licensing agreements generate revenues, called royalties, earned by a company for allowing its copyrighted or patented material to be used by another company.

Which more or less fits the scenario better than what you are presenting as an all out desire to enter into the marketplace only. At the end of the day it is still an Aerosoft product, powered by Toliss, developed, marketed and distributed, by Aerosoft. Toliss remains as a dedicated Xplane developers who happens to be helping another developer at their request and as a result formed a partnership to allow them to receive revenue in return for licensing the use of their code.

What the intent of Toliss enter this partnership was Aerosoft coming to Toliss 2 years ago looking for help which is where this collaboration started base on this interview below.

Facts are boring aren't they.

While my position is that there are many ways to “enter a market” and receiving money (royalties) from licensing out your code to another is one of them. I agree with lucky in that it’s really not worthwhile to argue over semantics and suggest that we move on from this as it is off topic.

Cause now we’re going in circles on the semantics of what “entering the market means” instead discussing toliss developing on MSFS, the actual subject of this topic.
