Agreed on the manual takeoff, just trying to get an understanding of the AP logic is all as it is somewhat different than Boeing and Airbus. It's little bit quirky. AP and ATS is intertwined in the MD11, just observe how the ATS will "change columns" on the autopilot annunciations, depending on which phase of flight you are in. (notice ATS OFF is indicated on the right column on ground, and on the left most column during an approach) Another give away of the MD system philosophy is that ATS will engage if you press PROF pushbutton if you are above 400 ft RA. MD in short, blends the ATS modes, depending on if it's an altitude control mode, such as "T/O THRUST" or if ATS is in speed control mode, such as "180kts THRUST", which is somewhat of a departure from Boeing philosophy where the A/T always had it's separate mode column on the PFD. I'm still figuring it out too....like going between fms guidance and heading bug.....going back and forth. Finally starting to read the docs, lol.

Lots of fun. He was the one that said properly engaging the AP was difficult. It is not. Like I said, you press Autoflight on the ground once. That arms the autothrottle. And then you can fly her manually as long as you like and when you want to engage the AP you press Autoflight again. What's so difficult about this?
January 18Jan 18 Anyone know if track offsets are possible yet? I am on the correct page but it won't let me enter any values in the OFFSET field (e.g. R2.0, R2). January 20Jan 20 Any reason to buy or not to buy from the TFDI Design site. I see Contrails and Inibuilt has it, but I don't see the extended simulation package anywhere. Asking because Ive never bought from TFDI before Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

I recall memories of hassle-free purchase (and support) from their website, despite older times… Buying directly from their website would also ensure timely availability of future updates. Glad you’re thinking of getting this big Trijet. Have fun…! Edited January 20Jan 20 by P_7878
