Now it seems to have happened: The anti-cheat driver used by Genshin Impact, the popular free-to-play RPG, has been abused by a ransomware actor to stop antivirus processes and enable the mass deployment of their ransomware."The fact that blue chip AAA companies even struggle with this and the potential dangers leaves me pretty stunned that FS developers would allow a college drop out with 5 semesters of experience and who used AI to code his app to have this level of access to anyone's PC.Honestly I'm struggling to find this believable.I really think as a community we need to take a stand on this and say no. I 100% believe devs should be able to protect their work and their livelihood, but this is not the answer. You should post this on the Discord channel. May 29May 29 Hard pass from me. I'm not running DRM for sceneries - there's already enough background stuff running in the sim that actually has a purpose. I have no problem with DRM on aircraft like the Fenix or for other things that I use on every flight. Not for a scenery...and where does it end? If I have 50 addon airports installed from 25 different developers - do they want me to run 25 different DRMs in the background??Their qualifications are also laughable. I hope the community reject this to the point that it sets a precedent for others to steer clear of.I don't know what they're even trying to achieve. People who weren't going to buy the scenery won't be buying it just because they put a DRM in. The only thing I can see this achieving is upsetting actual paying customers who were going to buy this but now won't because they don't want some AI coded DRM running for a scenery they legitimately bought. Really makes you scratch your head as to who comes up with this stuff...
May 29May 29 I wish them luck with this but I cannot see how this airport is not going to be an absolute performance hog. Load it up with AI traffic and your choice of complex airliner and I'd be shocked if it's even flyable without massive stutters/VRAM issues....but I hope to be proved wrong! And now the DRM thing for the cherry on top....zoiks! Edited May 29May 29 by Flic1 Eric i9-12900k, RTX 5070ti OC, 32GB ddr5 5600 RAM, 2TB 980 Pro SSD, Titan 240RX AIO, Samsung CRG90 49", Win 11
May 29May 29 An "AI assisted" DRM solution... let's see how long it takes until it's broken. No place for amateurs in the DRM solutions arena, the graveyard is already crowded. In the meantime, we'll still need to keep the thing running on our computers. No thanks. Would rather wait for the Marketplace version, if at all. Enrique Vaamonde
May 29May 29 Just read that you won’t have the same features on the marketplace version versus the Orbx Malware version…Doubt that means it will be cheaper on the marketplace so your dollar/euro won’t go as far with what you get which is just the cherry on top for this fiasco.
May 29May 29 Interesting. A couple of months ago I said enough. I'm not buying any more airports. It's too much. You have all these platforms offering a section of airports, you have to remember where you installed them from, install them and deal with issues. And when a new sim comes out it can take a year or two before they're compatible again. I just took a deep breath and said no more. I just decided to go explore, even if the airport is awful (in fact, the worst scenery in the sim is the airports) I'll just fly into them anyway and enjoy the scenery all around. Yeah, they can be pretty awful but between the price, the trouble and the maintenance, it's too much. Maybe the paradigm will change. Maybe default airports will improve. I hope so. May 29May 29 Looks like the Aerosoft A340 uses the same DRM. Anyone who has that is already running a version of the DRM by the sounds/looks of it. Plus the developer behind the DRM made vRAAS Vote to fix transparent sun visors having no effect on the sun glare effect in MSFS at: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sun-shades-sun-visors-not-influencing-light-in-cockpit/691565/

This has helped me alot when there is an update that i was not really paying attention to.Focusing on the latest sim (2024) also makes it easier nowMichael Moe Michael Moe
