Orbx Atlanta

Atlanta is my home airport when I was growing up and I have used the devs previous scenery, so I was excited to finally have an updated version of KATL in MSFS2024. Should I have waited? Maybe so but it's my home airport and I was unhappy with the Asobo/ImagineSim versions being outdated. I learned my lesson now when it comes to Orbx published sceneries. I will put them in the Aerosoft category of "wait and see" when it comes to any Orbx backed development.

After reading all the post here concerning the performance and unsatisfied people, I glad I brought the Imagine KATL. It runs fine and hardly any performance issues, and it doesn't look outdated to me.

One thing they can do is just release it on marketplace. I hate marketplace but getting sceneries from there isn’t the WORST in the world. They’ll have their precious encryption without the need to lo

I have reduced the file for a lot of textures without compromise the visual in this performance update that is coming very soon. For sure will help. Regards, Matteo

They just lost me forever. Orbx can now go pound sand. I would have paid $100 for this but now they’ve lost me as a customer.

(FYI - Careful on the Orbx discord. They have a few PR campaign managers/pseudo mods running around that will fight you on anything negative that is said)

I noticed that, the same crew. There doing a lot of beta testing like installing and uninstalling WU10, turning photogrammetry on or off, requesting a photogrammetry disable update, etc. There is even talk that users that have Realistic Taxiway Signs Pro might be causing the sign issues. There a lot users who don't use that sign program that are seeing the floating signs and lights.

On a more positive note, theres is a new performance update 3 that's about to be released. I guess the beta testing continues as he works out the bugs. 😒 I look forward to the elevation fixes when they come.

The ground is absolutely abysmal when taxiing around and while I understand Matteo’s opinion that Asobo is to blame for this,

How is the airport when the new addon isn’t installed…?

If normal, then Matteo/Orbx are dissembling.

I was running the stock airport prior to this and didn’t have any issues. I know @Wise87 was running Imaginesim and I don’t think he was having any issues with their version.

ImagineSim just flattens the whole airport.

Out of curiosity, I just loaded up there with the handcrafted airfield and flew a Kodiak around in a HIGHLY illegal manner 😂

Did a bunch of STOL landings and fast taxis all over and didn’t see any elevation issues.

Hopefully, Matteo & Orbx can get off that hill and figure out where the internal issue is with their software 🙏

It seems like a decent scenery as-is, but I definitely understand wanting a Hi Fi up to date version when that’s a personally important airfield. 🤙

P.s.: Man…it’s hard to believe, but now that I think of it, I haven’t IRL been to KATL in something like 30 years!!

This whole thread just makes me question why publishers like Orbx still exist if they don't test or offer assistance to the developers that release products on their behalf? What benefit do they provide that you can't already get by just releasing directly through the marketplace? I would guess any sales gained by including the consoles would surpass the lost revenue from those who refuse to purchase from the marketplace.

Like others I was a huge fan of Orbx in the FSX days, and I bought a few of their airports for 2020 that were barely above FSX standards. That was enough to show me the glory days for Orbx were over...

Inibuilds Boston Logan has a girl dancing the macarena on top of terminal E. Does Orbx Atlanta have any such interesting feature? Like maybe a pizza parlor for waiting passengers with Chuck E. Cheese games?

Nah, I disagree completely

out of curiosity I went to the orbx forum, I could not even find a open thread about KATL.......

Reading from their Discord, Matteo mentioned there is another update coming with a choice of airport elevations where you can set the elevation to "flat". He mentioned this is a patch so I am not sure whether this will be visible as a new version or not. As far as I can tell its not released yet.

Stay tuned for more developments on the KATL improvement front.
