MSFS 2024 performance

Because I changed everything. I had an X870E Hero, X670E Extreme, and an MSI ITX X870E. Tried different RAM kits and so on. I deleted the rolling cache, bought an extra 4TB M.2 drive extra and only for the rolling cache, and much more. I really tried every single "solution," but nothing worked.

I had the Core 9 Ultra before, but I was a bit unhappy with the general performance (bought it at release). I had no issues with sound stuttering then. But when I switched to the 9800X3D, the stuttering began. I hoped the 9950X3D would fix it, but nope. So I went back to Intel with some nice CUDIMMs, delidded it, and now the performance is great; and the stutters are gone again.

So for me personally, and for many others, the problem seems to be AMD.

Sounds like you tried everything, that must've been really frustrating.

I've not had any problems so far, but then I haven't really used 2024 in anger. I'm going to switch with SU3, fingers crossed 😬

  • That should be more than enough to run MSFS 2024 at high to ultra settings 👍

Thats the thing ide prefer not to use dlss and use TAA

Will it be an issue?

I've used TAA without issues.  I just use DLSS to keep myself well under the VRAM usage.

On a side note.....what is the difference between an i7 and an i9?

And the vast majority are using AMD in 2024 currently just look and it's almost no one complaining about audio or other stutters.  No audio or other stutters here with 7800X3D and now 9900X3D.  The 9900X3D runs very cool on air.  Of note, some time ago I did experience audio pops and traced it to Win 11's update to 24H2 so rolled back to 23H2 and that ended that.  I have not tried 24H2 or 25 if it's out as there is no way to roll back to 23.  I might create a restore point and see sometime if this was ever addressed but no need as all's well and has been for many moons.  My sense is this has probably already been solved because once more:  many are using AMD w/o your issues you never got to the bottom of.

No, it has not been resolved. The official forum is full of reports.

But that seems to be the prevailing mindset: "I don’t have this problem, so it doesn’t exist."

There are AMD and Intel users in that thread so it's not an AMD thing.

 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2  - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

Most of them are AMD users. So yes its still more an AMD thing.

I have been checking out the prices of PCs recently, and also thinking about what system would be good enough if I decide to switch to MSFS 2024 at the same time. My use case would still be 1080p resolution on a 24" monitor. I am not going to be spending ridiculous amounts of money on the top end graphics cards, so I have been thinking about an i7 14700KF/16GB RTX 5060Ti combo. Would this be sufficient to run MSFS 2024 at decent detail levels? A system like this would be significantly more powerful than the i5 7600K/6GB GTX 980Ti powered PC that I am currently using, and that 16GB VRAM should provide me with comfortable headroom @ 1080p resolution. However, I would be interested to know what you guys think about it.

There are still certain features/issues regarding MSFS 2024 that I would like to see sorted out, but I just want to prepare myself if/when the day arrives

I run MSFS 2024 at 1080p on a 3060Ti, which is not nearly as strong as a 5060Ti.  I use mostly high settings, with a few settings on medium.  I have capped my FPS to 30 FPS, but for most flights, I think I get about 30 FPS anyways.

If my 3060Ti is good enough for MSFS 2024 at 1080p, then the 5060Ti will definitely be good enough.  My system specs are in my signature.

It doesn't work like that. Either it's an AMD thing or it isn't. And it isn't.

Sorry but just no.

Why is it so hard to accept that not every product is 100% perfect and does not work all the time ?

I think I made it clear enough that there is a problem, mostly with AMD CPU‘s, accept it.

I do not know enough about the issue to sway what the cause is, but it stands to reason that just because a majority of users with the issue have a brand of CPU, that isn't necessarily the cause.  What if the majority of users with that problem have a ginger moustache...are we going to attribute sound stutters to that?

I'll keep an open mind, but I'm sorry, if you want to attribute causation, you're going to need to deliver stronger evidence

.No, you made it clear that you *think* there is a problem mostly with AMD CPU's, based on a non-scientific and simple numerical analysis.  You have not provided or linked to evidence which proves this is actually the case.

I am still using a i7-4770K@4,6,32 GB DDR3-2400 and a EVGA GTX1080TI 11GB , and with all aircrafts including the Inibuilds A350 without cabin though i am at high and medium settings at 1440p. Textures need to be at high to not go beyond 11GB. FPS is captured at 25 though with no issues.

Some people are having issues with audio stuttering. Some of those are using AMD processors. Some are using Intel processors. Some people are jumping to conclusions.

Not for everyone.

These chips are causing many problems with MSFS2024, such as sound stuttering and other issues.

Intel, even with potentially lower performance, might be the better choice. I had a 9800X3D and a 9950X3D, and both had the same problem. I switched back to the Core 9 Ultra, and the issues disappeared completely.

Just check the MSFS forum—it's full of reports about this problem. Sure, AMD chips work well on some systems, but on many others, they don’t. So AMD isn't always the right pick.

And nothing is more frustrating than having a water-cooled RTX 5090 and hearing sound crackling. It was driving me crazy.

It's not the X3D chips that cause issues, it's the 5000 series GPUs and the drivers that don't work well with them.

There is no way to make that statement w/o knowing HOW MANY of each users there are.  And the reality is:   audio pops and stutters DO HAPPEN WITH BOTH.
