The only way to keep TLOD sufficiently high to avoid blurry textures once you're airborne is with AutoFPS. Is it really that bad in MSFS 2024? I have a TLOD setting of 250 with 6GB VRAM in MSFS 2020 (DX11 mode), and I get acceptable performance at the vast majority of my addon airports (including large ones like IniBuilds EGLL London Heathrow). I do not use AutoFPS or any other software of that kind. My main point is that I have never had it before at any time in MSFS2024 at the same settings, it has only appeared in this latest beta update, so it is a bit of a worry. My team and I maintain the ILS, VOR, and DME systems at TFFF (Fort-de-France Airport). But there are tons of other jobs happening on the airfield too Safety and security personnel, firefighters, fuel services, companies that handle VIP and private jet operations (sorry, I don’t know the English term for those), ground service providers, catering companies… Basically, every time I request clearance from the tower, there’s always another vehicle already on frequency. So no, I’m not bothered by the number of vehicles in MSFS! Oh hey neighbor! I live on the island right below yours. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

I think you took the right decision! Congratulations! FS 2024 is a very enjoyable and fully featured flight simulator! I'd place it at the tops of all the flightsims I have used along my simmer life, and my expectations are growing towards what they reached with MS FLIGHT, which, due to my OCD, just makes me fear every date that it goes the same way 😕 As a glider pilot I use it more than any other sim I have used for soaring, in the necessary time proportion because, for instance, I use Condor since the first version was released in 2006. Is it perfect flight dynamics wise ? No! Is it perfect Weather modelling wise? No! Is it perfect ATC and AI wise? No! But... do I enjoy playing it more than I enjoy playing **any** other sim presently available? YES ! Life is made of give & takes ... Optimal is a limit... We have to accept the limitations and try to take the most out of what is offered, and FS 2024 even still under very active development is surely a platform with a good deal of features to offer, even in it's default versions. I purchased the "Standard" version, and couldn't use all of the included aircraft. Of course I did buy the Fenix, the FSLabs, the PMDG, and even the iFly 737, as well as the Inibuilds 350, but although I use these addons, a few helis and gliders, the defaut Airbuses by Inibuilds are stil among the models I log more sim time in ! I have used FSHUD and BATC for ATC, but presently I use default ATC and the only thing I added were the FSLTL AI models, with their textures reduced to 1024, and I am more than fine. Most of the time the rather procedural simulated airline flights are controlled very acceptably, and AI Traffic injected the same way. Given the rather limited desktop (by present standards), I use FS 2024 with parcimony when it comes to settings. For airline flight simulation my OLOD and TLOD are at 50, while when flying gliders I or helis I get OLOD to 75 and TLOD to 100... I run the sim at 30 FPS sharp limit (through "UserCfg.opt"). I set AI Traffic at "Low"... etc... It's an "old" Ryzen 5600x, 32 GB RAM, an RTX 3060 Ti 8GB... I have to adapt the settings to the hardware. MSFS is a Great Flight Simulator !!! One of the Best ever, IMO. Also according to the official forums, the performance has taken a (further) hit with this beta version. Either we resign to the idea of a perennial beta with regressions far worse than what we saw in MSFS development, or we go back to MSFS, as I did already for airliner flights. I had the same problem but switching from HD textures to SD textures in the Ini Manager seems to have helped. That said, yes, the stuttering going into large airports with a legit thing.

I wonder if performance has worsened due to them putting the cloud quality back. One way or another, us and Asobo need a way forward, as we cant all afford 5090's.
