MSFS 2024 SU4 Performance Boost over SU3, Tested

Featured Replies

Just now: Fenix from EHAM (default) to EIDW (MK). 4K Ultra, everything maxed, JustFlight Traffic + in-sim AI traffic. TAA, no DLSS, FG on.

GPU: 98%

CPU: 49%

FPS ranging from 60 at EHAM  to 85+ in flight. Very smooth.

It's a beta and they haven't released the final update. Stay patient.

This and I am pretty sure it wont take long anymore until the true reason for the performance increase is found. Reduced TLOD with the same settings, more agressive culling, reduced roadtraffic or shiptraffic, whatever it might be. There is no free lunch and a 25% performance increase or even more never comes just like that. The SU4 beta testers just did not yet find it...

There is no visible graphics or functional degradation. No crashes. Apart from some addons not working and some fixes needed to the ATC textbox, SU4 beta is a valid release.

Oh, and also some weird behavior like the impossibility to start a flight in EKCH.

You know how much I criticize FS2024; consider that I haven't started MSFS since SU4 beta release. Steam says "Last played: Sep 7".

Well, if we had a nickel for every time someone complains that a beta has defects or regressions, or that a beta with a list of fixes/enhances A, B, C, D .. G didn't address X or Y 🙄

It's quite fair to be disappointed if an issue or enhancement important to you didn't get addressed in a beta of an SU. And this is not directed at you, but for every time someone whines about defects/instability in a beta expecting it to behave like an early-access release (especially in the earlier beta drivers), or every time someone whines about whatever feature or bug X Asobo didn't address when they didn't plan to address it in the said SU.. then ya "it's a beta" needs to be repeated again and again and deservedly so 🙂

Same here, it's quite simply incredible. Like a whole new sim.

This is hard to fathom as I already have incredible!  I don't have stutters on final/landing, anywhere!  I'm using Render Scaling at 130, and here at LSGG right now in the Fenix it's 105FPS-fg.  Wow, and it's getting better?  Mind blowing!  Image quality is stellar!

need to use autofps, trees high or medium otherwise landing roll on the runway is a stutterfest.

This is a very weird post. It would be extremely unusual for an update focused on performance optimization to only benefit one specific hardware configuration.

I think it's safe to assume that the majority of people will see a performance uplift. In fact, many others have posted about seeing an improvement in performance with different hardware.

? So by your logic, no one should see ANY review except if it's EXACTLY on their own hardware?

There's nothing weird about it.

People continually post this YouTube stuff with people making claims about the game that just are most often far from accurate. If my system is very different than someone else's than the performance is going to be very different as well! Not a hard concept to understand.

A performance boost from SU4 will certainly be something some may see and others may not. I'm running SU4 right now and I could make the same ridiculous video refuting it! I have no noticeable difference in performance from SU3 to SU4.

My point is still the same, one persons YouTube video tells me nothing as far as performance goes!
