Control bindings 2020 to 2024

Featured Replies

Hi guys

So i am slowly converting to ms2024 still flying 2020 until su4 is out of beta.

Is there a way to export my 2020 bindings and axis curves etc to 2024? Without going through the whole process of setting up again?

Thanks

Mike

This is no help to you, but I copied the controller bindings into a spreadsheet.

Maybe its me, but 2024 has a habit of forgetting bindings, re-adding them, and losing profiles. I've got a feeling its something to do with naming a profile the same as one you've used previously.

Another pitfall to avoid is using the provided 2020 keyboard profile as you have to then bind keys so the new stuff works. I found it less frustrating to memorise the new key bindings.

Exactly what I did.

 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2  - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

I opened up both sims at the same time, opened up the settings and just set it all the same way. My PC did not like the experience very much but it didn’t crash.
As you’ll find, the controller setup in MSFS is very un intuitive. It’s good to be able to set controllers per aircraft but the way it works is maddening.

There use to be an pdf export controller software over at flightsim.to .

You might consider FSUIPC.  I'm using my 2020 setting in 2024 thru that system.  I had to set the 2024 keyboard to 2020 and I created a null definition for my controllers.  I've been using FSUIPC since the early days and find it very easy to work with.

This.

You'd think after using MSFS 2024 for some time that I'd already learn to like it. Nicer graphics, improved flight modeling, nicer weather, improved cross platform consistency, expanded ecosytems, optimization in certain areas and all that...And so ... I did!

Until for some unexplained reason, I lost my profiles and the profiles I saved to a file which I set with the Windows read-only file attribute somehow now behave differently after I imported them back to MSFS 2024.

I think I understand the rationale for the new control bindings in MSFS 2024 (did Microsoft officially make available the reason why they changed?). For PC desktop users who sometimes still have to use MSFS 2020 also (looking at you PMDG, release the 737 already), the design for the control bindings menu in MSFS 2024 is horrible.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

I ended up setting a global (All aircraft) profile where it's basically just camera/view settings.  Then I use spad.next where I have aircraft specific profiles for all controls/hardware etc.  It's not for everyone, but the more hardware you have the better it gets for managing all that.  It's also brings me piece of mind that I have real backups of all this.  The other benefit is that for most aircraft the same spad profile works for 2020 or 24.

This is the strategy I've been setting up to use for my transition.  I've long done most everything in SPAD anyway, but had a few things still done in MSFS on a few planes.  Not anymore after a bit of profile cleanup.  That pretty much leaves the camera stuff that I'll have to deal with in 2024.  I recognize there may be a few settings I'll have to modify in SPAD for some aircraft, such as axis curves, but I'd need to deal with that either way if needed.

I just completely started over and only use similar keybidings for the keyboard for views, camera etc. The Alpha, Bravo and rudders I just kept really basic. I don't use spad next or anything of the sort but something tells me I should start.

Yep, it's you.  NEVER have had ANY alterations of bindings/sensitivities since install moons ago.
