January 14Jan 14 Hi, Nvidia.app leaves beta. New “recommended” mode instead of “latest”. Sorry, I have no more information. Regards

For 2D, during flight planning and while in the menues, I have switched from DLSS FrameGen to AMD FSR3 to avoid that ugly magenta/pinkish flicker that occurs with Smooth Motion and DLSS FrameGen active at the same time. I recommend Smooth Motion to all RTX users, it doubles VR fps with no noticeable artefacts. https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5621/~/enabling-smooth-motion-in-nvidia-app magenta/pinkish flicker when FrameGen and Smooth Motion are activated simultaneously in NVidiaApp Edited January 14Jan 14 by turbomax AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.

I am happy with DLSS 4.5 because I am not obsessed with the "vertical speed tape decimal values are blurry in glass cockpits above 2.800 ft vertical speed". I am impressed how good DLSS 4.5 looks and performs in VR considering less than 1/2 number of pixels are rendered by the game (67% resolution in 2D) in QUALITY mode (2.0 million 2D pixel upscaled to 4.5 million pixel to Pimax VR), all the others are "fake pixels" just like FrameGens "fake frames" 🤣. But in return, we VR users have one advantage: we can always move our head closer to the instrument panel to better see the fine print, a feature 2D mode users usually don't have (unless Toby eye tracker perhaps). With DLSS upscaling I usually get around 60 fps with a Pimax Crystal Light (vs. 30 fps in FS2020 with HP Reverb at much lower resolution), 60 fps is a fantastic value for VR where everything needs to be rendered twice, (120 fps with in FrameGen 2D). Hi Turbomax Can you please explain what kind of VR headset you are using and why? Since Quest Metaverse studio is closing down and let 1.000 go yesterday, it will be only the new Steam Frame VR and/or the new Pimax DreamAir for my next headsets. perhaps 2 different sets, one for wireless gaming (Steam Frame) and the Pimax DreamAir primarily for MSFS. I have Quest here that I haven't even used except for 1 hour trying it out as a mobile cinema, but that's it and I will return it. I am getting usually smooth 55-60 fps in MSFS 2024 using QUALITY mode in MSFS2024 and most settings on HIGH and ULTRA, that has to suffice for my type of mostly twin prop/bizjet flying. January 14Jan 14 I am not one for promoting IslandSimPilots videos but his latest raises a fair point about why some see blurring and some do not. I for one was still getting it on my 5090 at 4K, DLSS - DLAA or Quality compared to TAA. He speaks about reducing the frame time down, the lower it is the less ghosting appears. Its all based on 1000 (milliseconds) divided by your frame rate so a locked 60 fps would give a frame time of 16.66 ms, locked at 30 gives 33.33 ms resulting in more blurring. Frame gen and multi frame gen increases the frame time values a little (regardless of a higher frame generated frame rate) so I have started testing the Fenix with frame rates locked at 60 and just running 2x FG. I previously was locked at 30x4 so was getting 33ms, now just under 20 and the altitude tape is a lot clearer. Overall image quality is certainly better with DLSS and using DLAA so no upscaling. I would suggest checking his video out as it seems to help. I understand the ghosting effect is worse in these conditions I mention. I can test, but not until next week. This weekend I'll be a bit busy for personal reasons. Tried so. With my conditions and a 5060Ti, I still get ghosting in the PFD. Back to TAA. Too bad, because far background looks amazing with DLSS+DLAA. January 15Jan 15 As for VR, the top 3 affordable priced sets are Pimax Crystal Light, Meta Quest 3, and the new Steam Valve. That Q3 is the cheapest and is has great passthrough. Which means you can tap the headset and you see all your controllers and keyboard in a hires full color image. Tap again to go back to seeing MSFS 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. January 15Jan 15 Looks good with quality and preset M Much better than previous versions but the ghosting with speed tape on take off and landing is driving me bonkers. So i went back to TAA because of that. Mike

Currently on Balance my Tapes show minimal tearing which I would be willing to accept but will check quality next. But I indeed saw no ghosting incl tearing on Aircraft edges when in external View. And Performance is still smooth. January 15Jan 15 I'm using preset M, DLSS + DLAA on my 5080 and it's some of the best image quality I've had in MSFS. I had a lot of shimmering using TAA, no shimmering at all with this combo.
January 15Jan 15 New update DLSS 310.5.2 The main change is the correct operation of automatic preset selection when using the "Always use latest" flag via NVIDIA Profile Inspector or the official app NVIDIA App DLSS accurately detects and applies the appropriate presets for various scenarios: from modes Performance и Ultra Performance to Balanced, Quality и DLAAThis eliminates the need to manually select profiles for each mode, entrusting this task to the driver's automation.
