January 18Jan 18 Makes sense, and I don't get those warning popups very often any more after locking. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. January 18Jan 18 Unlocking the frame rate makes the PC work harder. Harder work means more heat. There must be better things to waste almost four minutes on.

There are those amongst us, including me, who benefit from being reminded about such things. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org
January 18Jan 18 I enable g-sync and v-sync in the nvidia control panel so fps never exceeds the 165hz monitor refresh on any game. Saves a lot of wasted noise, power, and heat. In fs2024 I also lock frames to 40 with 2x FG (80 fps) The sim just runs smoother that way. January 18Jan 18 This is one reason I use RTSS front edge sync: one can turn the rate lock on and off w/ a keypress. Very handy when I need to mitigate NV DLSS FG related artifacts while taxiing for example, then once up a few thousand feet can usually lock to 60FPS-fg and enjoy relaxed hardware with zero visual downside. January 18Jan 18 Are you kidding me? 🙄🙄🙄 Piloting highly complex virtual machines around and even mentioning the obvious - let alone release a four-minute video into the world, as if there wasn't enough chatter already. Newton in practical terms: You sweat more too when you have to lug 60 sacks of coal instead of 30. btw.: A good headline needs neither CAPS nor exclamation marks... January 18Jan 18 Where do these "warning popups" come from? The simulator itself? Some other software that needs to be installed first? January 18Jan 18 What's with all the gatekeeping? Has everyone here suddenly become a super nerd, able to dive deep into driver internals and settings? I have read threads on here where people don't know that they need to plug the HDMI cable into the GPU and not on-board video.. That doesn't mean they are stupid, it just means that they haven't needed to know that before, because it wasn't relevant to their lives. And they come and ask a question/read a thread and learn. Should they be mocked as well? I guess everyone mocking this thread was born with deep computing lore embedded in their psyche. You or I may not need this information, but there are those for whom it's interesting. Just seems unkind to mock people who don't know everything about everything. The 3 minutes and 45 second long video explaining that a device that works harder may well become warmer is arguably not rocket science. That's all.
January 19Jan 19 Good job Pilot Pete. Dont listen to these old grumpy men. I may send them to a retirement home soon. No more flight simming for these guys before bed...
January 19Jan 19 There's even another cool trick: above the left shift key, there's one with an arrow down. Pressing that again to make sure caps lock is NOT enabled, let the community run cooler ... ENABLED <-- Not enabled <-- Which one seems more politely? Which one seems to be not shouting? January 19Jan 19 There is something we used to call common sense. Not much of that going around these days. dd
