Noel, you're welcome to come sit next to the fire with Winston. Edited January 25Jan 25 by tdflightsim Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again

Well, some of us have our own cats, of course, and are better prepared than some others. I gotta say, no one expected Greenland to deploy its weather in a first strike. 😄 Looks like I've gotten past the freezing precipitation of various sorts. Now just gotta survive the bitter cold another day. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

January 26Jan 26 Made it though the storm and still have power! It remained mostly sleet here in central Virginia, like 2 1/2" of snow and sleet. I did get freezing rain near the end, I'd say about 1/10 of an inch, then back to really fine, light sleet before it finished. Very few people on the roads as everything is covered in the layer of sleet and ice. January 26Jan 26 In New England, 39% of the electricity production is coming from *oil* -- oil! Only 31% from natural gas, 17% nuclear, and 5% renewables with only 30% of those renewables being solar and wind. What happened to the hundreds of billions of dollars supposedly spent on new green electricity? This is New England, don't forget, which along with California and a few other States, is at the forefront of clamoring for more renewables. Right now, oil, gas, and nuclear are literally keeping hundreds of millions of people from freezing to death. While natural gas and nuclear power dominate the grid, renewable generation is increasing, with over 14,000 MW of wind and significant solar capacity proposed. In November 2025, renewables generated about 13.5% of the region's energy, including 5.9% from wind, 4.4% from wood/refuse, and 2.6% from solar. 😺 Edited January 26Jan 26 by martin-w

I don't think we got any actual snow here. Just freezing rain, which is about 2" solid. Only lost power for a few minutes, some time when we were sleeping. Hook Larry Hookins Oh!
