A340 Thoughts?

Featured Replies

Now that it is possible to buy the IniBuilds A340 direct and not on MP would you recommend or suggest waiting for the Aerosoft/Tolis version?

Some people seem to have no end of problems with IniBuilds aircraft. Maybe I've just got lucky, but I like the A340 a lot. Their visual modelling is second to none. Systems wise while it isn't qu

If it were me, I would wait for the Aerosoft/Tolis, which I will give a try.

In my case, unless you start from a gate you risk random WASM crashes (spawning with gear up).

It seems to WASM crash randomly and if you have the Winwing MCDU and using the Captain setting it will freeze at some point and have to switch to the Co Pilot mode.

Too many workarounds for my liking.

Other users mileages may vary.

It's always good to have a choice. And that's why I will wait until the Aerosoft/Toliss A340 is released and wait for the reviews. Toliss has a very good reputation in the X-Plane community, while the iniBuilds A340 seems to be a reat product. I am owning there A350 and I am quite surprised about their quality.

That said, my next purchases will be:
- A340
- F70/100
- L-1011

Best regards,
Holger

Different models, to start.

I presently do not have it installed because I am still waiting for it to be transfered from MP to the IniManager (more than a week jow and still nothing 😕 and they say 72 hrs...).

OFC I expect the Toliss to be a lot more detailled.

Having both is a good option.

I love the A340, it’s become one of my favourite long haulers.  I find it a lot more fun than the 777.

I’ve never had a WASM crash or any other major issues.

If you’re going to limit yourself to only one A340 then it might be worth waiting to see some comparisons, but otherwise I’d go for it.  The -300 has a certain charm with it’s four underwing hairdryers trying to propel it forward 😀

The A340 is fantastic.  I’ve never had a WASM crash with it, the winwing MCDU works flawlessly, and the EIS1 cockpit at night is the best night lighting in the whole sim.

Plus, it can be rather performance limited from some airports, so it takes some thinking and planning.  You can’t just power out of most situations like the MD-11 (which is also amazing) and the 777.

I don‘t like the ini340. Flightmodel feels like word not allowed. Especially pitch sensitivity during rotate is a no go. It is like with their a350, i don‘t feel it is like a good fitting suit (like the Fenix)..more shorts and Tshirt with with legs……

It's a question if you wish to have an Airbus A340 (meaning just one, w/o specific preference for one variant vs. the other), then you should wait, not only because you'll then have a choice between two different Publishers (iniBuilds/ToLiss), but also between two different A340 variants (A343/A346).

The two A340 variants have their own distinctive visual appearance and flight characteristics.

I have been flying the iniBuilds A343 since it came out, including replication of some of the world's longest (RW Lufthansa) A340 routes, of duration ~ (10-13) hours. I've never had any issues that I recall. I will certainly get the A346 too, if/when available. The ToLiss one is expected to be of higher fidelity...TBD...

So, it depends on your personal preference...🙂...

The Ini A340 is a very nice flight model. Never had any crashes or problems. The only complaint I have is the pop out gauges that so small it can't be read. And the background plate it's put on Is so large it takes up unnecessary restate on monitor. So unless you have a magnifying glass you can't read the gauges

I’d write back and tell them no joy.  I had mine in less than 60 minutes on day one of transfers.  YMMV. TANSTAAFL,

Yes that qualification should be made.

I like the 340 but the forums are littered with reports of WASM crashes and freezing Winwing MCDU's.

I bought it 48 hours ago.

I attempted my first flight and the aircraft became completely unresponsive (WASM failure) after an hour in the air. I had to close MSFS2024 and didn't get to land it.

Attempt 2 - exactly the same thing.

Cleared the WASM folder and tried again.  Same result.

For some users at least, the A340 is completely non-functioning, as you can't even keep it working long enough to land it.

Think of it as a lottery as to whether you'll have a working addon.

This . I have the A350 and it doesnt feel quite right.

Regarding MCDU freezes i have it always in the Fenix after init req and a couple of clicks. Switching to FO and all back to normal.
