MSFS 2024: Sim Update 5 Beta (1.7.6.0) Out

Featured Replies

I strongly advise restarting the system after joining the beta, but before installing it. And of course doing the same if moving back out of the beta.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

You comment away all you want Ken.  Don't let people shut you down.  They just want to live in their own echo chamber and constantly use straw man arguments and insults to try to make you feel ashamed

  • A lot of good stuff in this beta though I was hoping we would see some effort towards fixing ATC and AI aircraft behaviour which should really have been sorted this long after release.

Or just make the SDK more robust to provide other developers to make ATC/AI better ... I've always maintain that 1000+ 3rd party developers will get more done sooner than the Asobo team.

If joining the beta on a Store version (not Steam), be sure to check the box that says something like "launch when ready" or something like that. Otherwise you may see the 9 GB keep installing again every time you try to play (or until you once again restart the System).

same procedure as every year, James:

have to remember to manually update DLSS to latest version using DLSS swapper. any new installation or update of MSFS resets DLSS to older version:

very nice.

Marine Traffic and Air Traffic name tag options are now separate options.

'Global Rendering Quality' is now a separate screen instead of a collapsed menu.

You know Ive just fired FS24 up to have a couple of hours like ya do and its starts downloading a 9.3GB update and little did I know that it was beta 5 that it was downloading ...which I DONT bloodywell want, I have no interest in Betas and Ive just wasted a F,kin hour of my life trying to get out of the bloody beta ....roll on. Honestly.......bloody ridiculous ...... My configuragtion in the insider hub was not set to be in  the beta program......kin roll on

You have the choice:

  1. On your Windows PC/Xbox, launch the Xbox Insider Hub app.
  2. Navigate to Previews > Microsoft Flight Simulator Beta.
  3. Select Manage > Leave preview, and select Continue when prompted.
  4. Wait for the unenrollment to complete, then restart your Xbox/PC.
  5. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator and you’ll be prompted to update (if an update is available).

V quick download for me: 3.6Gb at 300-770Mb/s.

Quick flight in the Fenix A320: nothing seems broken, settings retained, performance similar without 3rd party traffic, perhaps slightly improved when adding FSLTL traffic, switching to external view now has no “lag” before being able to zoom around smoothly.

14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor.
Thrustmaster Airbus Edition throttles etc, TPR pedals, MiniCockpit FCU, WinWings FCU, WinWings Orion 2 F15E, WinWings A320 sticks.

I’ll sit this one out for now. Nothing groundbreaking really and SU4 runs perfectly.

It’s a shame, I can’t see any mention of fixing Historical Weather when using Sim Rate. Been reported repeatedly on their forums and ignored - historic weather always moves at 1x, even when flying with 4x or 8x. So after a while the METAR is behind sim time by hours…

"64 fps ought to be enough for anybody in VR" (Bill Gates, 1982) 😄

absolutely smooth, SU5, A320 Neo, VR, Pimax Crystal Light, 67 fps

Added Camera API for SimConnect and WASM into Flight Simulator 2024

Great, maybe now a dev will produce a simple Fly-By and Tower View option for those not interested in the complete overhaul that ChasePlane is.  I am very happy with/ the default camera system and that is the main thing missing for me at this point and I'm sure the market for this will be substantial especially if it's priced right.

the market will be even bigger as a free tool 😀

which eventually it will be, considering how simple it is to implement.
