MSFS 2024: Sim Update 5 Beta (1.7.6.0) Out

Featured Replies

Oh man oh man oh man. DarkStreets is saved! 😁

Fixed light exclusion polygons not working far away

EDIT: This has not been entirely fixed- at cruise altitudes you can still see the effect a bit way out at a distance. It is way better though, and is at least passable, if they can't push out the range even farther.

  • A lot of good stuff in this beta though I was hoping we would see some effort towards fixing ATC and AI aircraft behaviour which should really have been sorted this long after release.

VR (pimax crystal light): For some odd reason the beta turned off anti aliasing to OFF and turned off foveated rendering in the options. I had to reset those in options. I got at times over 50 fps in VR, which I never had so high before. It ranged from 42 to 52 fps. Before the beta it was in the high 30s, average 37.

very nice.

Does the showcase camera still bump you to the roof in interiors?

Looks like the regression hasn't been fixed yet.

I think in the beta there's a choice of more types of optional labels for POIs and markers.

He mentions taht the increase fps could be due to the fact that there isn't many people on the beta servers, compared to the number of people on the release servers. Maybe its my imagination, but when the release version is newly released it seems I see a performance drops. Because now the servers I'm on are crowded again.

Doesn't seem like a whole lot to get excited about here. Was hoping for some weather improvements, but guess I'll have to just keep waiting.

Same, I noticed only 2 issue with this update :

1 ) My TOBII doesn’t work in “pitch” when my head tilt up to down

2 ) The 172 load on the parking with a  180° shift

Otherwise, it’s early smooth, VRAM seem to be lower, the UX is polished….no add on seem broken

Wait so does Chaseplane just straight up not work with SU5 or is it more that it’s unsupported?

The mindset when doing betas is that 'stuff will be busted' which is the nature of the beast..   I understand that and so don't participate.  Kudos to those that do though.

The initial beta just came out today. I am sure there will be many updates to come in the weeks ahead. Whatever changes/improvements to weather might be planned will probably come later in the Beta 5 process. They don’t necessarily include “everything” in an initial release.
