That is a very big claim, so I will need plenty of evidence to convince me.

  • Hi folks, I saw a few questions earlier in this thread about this release note: Removed weather panel humidity slider since humidity is no longer used. We followed up with the Asob

You comment away all you want Ken.  Don't let people shut you down.  They just want to live in their own echo chamber and constantly use straw man arguments and insults to try to make you feel ashamed

  • A lot of good stuff in this beta though I was hoping we would see some effort towards fixing ATC and AI aircraft behaviour which should really have been sorted this long after release.

Because Asobo have a factual history of breaking things (generally) during betas and then not fixing them during that same beta, hence people get a tad annoyed when things used to work suddenly don't work in the beta which really shouldn't be happening in the first place.

See my post earlier where they've finally fixed an issue in this beta they broke in 2021....!

Exactly, and while us beta testers understand that stuff is likely going to be broken, it is blatent things such as this:

Upgraded Tobii SDK to version 9.0.4.26.

So they clearly took time to upgrade the SDK to the new version, but what F8*&cn good is it IF THEY DO NOT EVEN TEST TO SEE IF TOBII WORKS then release the beta? Absolute laziness and stupidity? Or at very least, arrogant and corporate garbage.

You said you couldn’t see one comment. I provided you with one. There are several referencing atmosphere / weather which we can understand to include humidity.

I get humidity itself is not a huge movement, but lots of us are disappointed that weather / atmosphere (including humidity) continues to be ignored despite many years of many bug posts / wishlist items on the official forums and questions on the dev mtgs. And here we are with yet another SU with no progress.

Not surprising that you will continue your long history of defending whatever the devs do. That you think a lack of posts about humidity specifically on the official forums means it isn’t important is just daft, frankly. How anyone can think humidity or any other feature of weather / atmosphere is irrelevant in a flight sim is beyond me. But then I have a feeling that if the devs decided that lift was no longer a necessary variable, you’d find a way to be ok with it.

I'm not defending them. I don't know how you came to that conclusion. My point is, people complain but they don't take the necessary steps to address the fix, which is actually creating a post in the SU5 beta forum so that we can upvote the issue.

You realize that most of the issues in the SU5 beta forum require upvoting so they can get awareness from the devs, right? A comment buried in an overly long general thread isn't going to get the attention that it needs (and that comment merely mentioned humidity in one word and it didn't even address the problem of the loss of the humidity function).

I actually want the problem to be fixed, but I'm not a real life pilot, so I can't describe the problem accurately from the perspective of a real life pilot, and explain to the devs why humidity is important. I'm also not in the SU5 beta officially so I shouldn't be even posting new bug threads if I am not in the beta.  Anyways, the productive way to fix the problem is to get somebody in the SU5 beta who understands humidity and how it relates to flying in real life, and can explain to the devs the issue in a formal post, that the beta community can upvote.  Key word is upvote, because that's how the official MSFS forums operate.

@scotchegg come on, you have been using MSFS for years, by now you know that anything in the beta forums gets the most traction and gets faster attention when it is upvoted, right?  It's how wishlist items, bugs, and so many other issues get the attention of the devs, a formal post where the community can upvote it.

Did a quick test flight from DTW to MSP. After removing Chaseplane all other addons (BeyondATC, Fenix A320, Activesky and addon airports) behaved admirably. VRAM usage is considerably improved. Stutters are heavily reduced, though still present. Eliminating them completely is probably a pipe dream at this point. I was even able to bump up a few settings and get acceptable performance. Given Asobo's history of debuting a beta with great performance and then rolling it back I am hoping they, as the kids say, keep this energy

Yeah, this one really got me. I don't like that I can't minimize haze when I want a nice clear view, and you could do this with the humidity slider from day one of 2020. Now you can't... I'd like an explanation on why this decision was made, but it's not likely to be given. Really, really disappointed in this.

99% of the time when I use Live weather, which is always, it's too hazy.  Perhaps they're addressing this thru another mechanism to allow greater range of impact from changes in humidity and non-water aerosols.  Put another way:  it's a bit early to get really, really disappointed about anything in a BETA, unless you enjoy being disappointed then by all means wallow away.

Huh, sounds like you're mad online because you don't understand what a beta is.

Wow...really?  I have the opposite issue which is the infinite visibility at all times in Live weather outside of snow/rain situations. The only time I have noticed this strange haze is in some of the presets, especially looking towards the sun but I rarely use them.

Reluctantly, for the first time I opted out of the beta, since I have various addons that don't seem to work well with SU5 - Chaseplane, Flow Pro, etc.

SU4 is working great for me; so I'll wait for the next stable release.

With what models? Tried using BATC and AIG models and I can see them much more far away.

Usually options removed during a beta process are not put back because some users complain or are unhappy that said option has been done away with. I have no idea why the humidity slider has been removed, I'm simply stating I'm disappointed it's gone and the option to adjust it in the weather presets is no longer there. It's not likely to be put back in, and whether it's been taken out during a beta or a final release has nothing to do with it.

Your rather strong reaction to my comment over this is a little surprising, you don't usually respond to posts with such vitriol. Sorry I seem to have upset you over this for some reason. I don't "wallow" over anything, just surprised and yes disappointed this is no longer a user option.

No more comments from me over this...

Ken
