MSFS 2024: Sim Update 5 Beta (1.7.6.0) Out

Yep, and just like MSFS2020 SU5 when they dumbed down clouds to host x-boxers, they keep dumbing things down using slight of hand, look at their latest Houdini trick - remove windows from all the autogen houses (a lot less to process!) Maybe in preparation of bringing on nintendo switch next?

That cannot seriously be an intended change?? How the hell do they think that they can get away with removing all of the windows on the autogen houses? This is supposed to be a next generation flight simulator, not a pile of garbage like FS5.

  • Hi folks, I saw a few questions earlier in this thread about this release note: Removed weather panel humidity slider since humidity is no longer used. We followed up with the Asob

You comment away all you want Ken.  Don't let people shut you down.  They just want to live in their own echo chamber and constantly use straw man arguments and insults to try to make you feel ashamed

  • A lot of good stuff in this beta though I was hoping we would see some effort towards fixing ATC and AI aircraft behaviour which should really have been sorted this long after release.

Probably some BETA glitch. I seriously doubt they would do this...

Back in de day FS5 was sim heaven for me. Textures to represent the ground! How can that be garbage? 😁

not sure if you thought that I knew something, I don't 🙂 Just conjecture and a bit of anger toward the dev's quality control, especially when Su5 beta is quite a bit later than I think they originally projected (but I do not think they ever had announced a projected beta release date) anyhow - venting. I do not think they purposely removed windows nor do I know if that's what they intended to do (doubtful, I hope!)

It's incredible how they continually have to go backwards before they can move forwards, yes it's a beta but yet again it's full of issues that shouldn't be happening.

Now they've gotta waste yet more time fixing what they've broken, rinse & repeat since August 2020.

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

If they fix everything their job is finished.

New features would argue against that point 😄

Well that flies in the face of what SayAgain Rob had to say about OLED screens, simply that once you've used on you won't want to go back.  So...what did this veil look like on your old OLED screen, about the same as w/ standard backlit LCD?

Exactly the same 'veil' on the OLED screen, which was HDR too!

The monitor I now have is not HDR, but is still bright enough and I appreciate the wider FOV too.  The OLED screen is very good for blacks, so the display had great contrast, yet this AOC AGON Monitor, although not quite as good, still has good contrast which you can see in the screen shots.

Would not there be always something to fix or make more efficient or improve or introduce new features???

Do people think betas are supposed to have no bugs?

  • Fix the "missing AI landing gear" problem
  • Fix the "straight lines in the sea" problem
  • Sort out the ATC system and AI plane animations

If they resolve all three, they can pack up and call it a day for further development as far as I am concerned.

There are many more bugs in the sim than these three items.

Did this first beta of SU5 fix any regressions from earlier sim updates?

No sign of any new liveries for AI traffic-would have loved to see the new Korean Air livery for AI traffic.

Fix the "missing AI landing gear" problem

That might not be possible with AIG models obtained from other sources ... have to check with AIG devs, but last I heard there was no change to the issue.  Apparently the developer of vPilot has a solution but doesn't provide any details (I've asked):

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/vpilot-beta-solves-missing-landing-gear/750138

Since I don't do VATSIM, I don't use vPilot and I don't know if vPilot will ONLY work with VATSIM or if the developer has a more global solution to the missing landing gear.
