February 17Feb 17 I think loading the plane at the gates is a good part of the simulation, but sometimes I just start on the flightline with engines running. What do you guys prefer?

February 17Feb 17 Gate/Ramp Cold & Dark Only. I run the sim in a VR setup so I'm doing several mental/physical preparations and adjustments while taxiing to the runway. February 17Feb 17 At the gate with engines running, and ready to taxi (PMDG aircraft). I compile the flightplan and set up the aircraft via the FMS, and then use the standard "Shift+P" pushback (without that annoying tug). But usually it saves me precious time to just load the imported flight plan and push the throttles down. My 2 cents. February 17Feb 17 At a gate if I want to play with GSX, grab screenies at an airport or suchlike. Hot start on runway if I want to explore an area or just fancy a flight in a particular plane. Never, ever, do the whole cold start thing - life's too short. Doesn't mean I won't sometimes start at a gate or similar and then record a flight from the subsequent hotstart (ctrl-e or whatever) and taxi out and away. Then grab a few shots from the replay. Even if I actually wanted to do the whole startup thing, I've got literally hundreds of aircraft and that's way too many buttons to get to grips with. Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
February 17Feb 17 Wow ..always st age gates or parking if GA. Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.
February 17Feb 17 Prefer to start at gate, usually in turnaround state to save some time and drudgery.
February 17Feb 17 Gate. Cold and dark. If I don't start it myself it just feels off. 9950X3D, PNY 5090, 64GB DDR5 6000, MSI X870-P, GIGABYTE AORUS Gen5 2TB NVMe, 3440x1440 AW3423DW gsync ultimate.
February 17Feb 17 I think if that's real world weather in Ketchikan, you won the lottery. I haven't seen a sky that blue there in about 5 months 😁. Andrew Crowley
February 17Feb 17 Occasionally, I have waited at the gate or on the ramp or in GA parking, waiting for the weather to improve. ☔
