October 2025 - The Last Asobo Dev Update?

Featured Replies

We can speculate all we want, one way or the other, and produce a whole bunch of headlines ending in question, destined for the trash.

However, that's nothing more than a waste of time. Does anyone have FACTS?

No? Then I'll keep quiet.

Some of you are talking like the data centers were built just for MSFS 🤦🏾‍♂️. Newsflash, they were not. The infrastructure already exists, the staffing already exists. All of it belongs to them. Phil

Clearly you’re reading this post and responding to it so you are concerned by the lack of dev updates. If you choose to cope with the uncertainty by not offering any insight, then fine. But no need to tell other people they are wasting their time if they want to offer their view on the situation.

Maybe they decided to start work on MSFS2028 early and don't want to let it slip out 😅

Some people say 'no news is good news', but I doubt this where MSFS is involved.  I am seriously concerned about motives.

I was only a few weeks ago that they shut down some MSFS servers without informing us paying customers, and news was only released when people had questions about it.
I still didn't see it explained properly.  Lets face it, they can do just what they want, and if the servers get turned off in future, it is a dead dodo.  There is absolutely nothing to stop them doing this in the future whenever they want to.

Then again, no more than most Steam apps I suppose.
How on earth we let ourselves get into this situation with multi-billion companies that sell us everything, but yet we don't own it, I don't know.

It is the only choice for us I suppose, but in the back of my head, I worry that we trust them more than they deserve.
Examples are out there.  I also invested in MS Flight right up until the plug was suddenly pulled.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

MSFSAddons just posted about this.. all speculation still, based on the recent MS leadership changes and AI churn going on in the industry: https://msfsaddons.com/2026/02/28/microsoft-flight-simulators-sudden-silence-has-the-community-worried/

That said, Asobo is continuing with their weekly blogs (under "Community" tab on the main website), i.e. latest one https://www.flightsimulator.com/february-26th-2026-msfs-weekly-briefing/

Asobo will also be at the coming FSWeekend event, their first time there I believe? (AFAIK they've not been there in recent years).

There is such a thing called concern trolling. Wondering when the next dev stream is coming is one thing, lurching to wild conclusions is quite another.

The technical term is called navel gazing.

Well yes, we can speculate all we want.  This is normally what happens when there is an information vacuum.  If some people don't want to get involved in that conversation they don't have to - its called freedom.

Some people speculated about the initial launch of 2024 based on information back from the beta testers (it wasn't ready), but these people were shouted down and even ridiculed on here.  Then what happened?

Honestly, I was mostly disappointed watching these q/a discussions. Many issues that have been discussed here over and over have never been asked there.

I managed to get a question asked once, and it was totally deflected by Martial.  I thought then - 'what a waste of time!'

If I remember correctly, there was one person who was shouted down on avsim and that was because he made his prediction based on an SDK he never got to see.

It is a pity that Jayne and Chewwy seem to concentrate more on creating the world's most toxic discord server, and not more time 'community managing' for MSFS. That could go a long way of bridging the gap between MS and the public while Jorg et al. are radio silent.

I agree would be good to hear how things are and what 2026 might bring... Great they are fixing things but good to knoew what is cooking...
