do a control alt delete and look at the memory hog office is ... sorry you love office, to me i despiste it... outlook too its garbage and is forced down employees throats... it does not belong on a sim pc, period. Otherwise your assertions are that it does not degrade performance your claim nees proof more than me prooving it hurts the sim why waste my time injecting that garbage into my sim. I have used peoples sims with office and outlook running, anti virus and they ccan't sim at all... they are a disaster ... so that explains a lot of people that just accept this junk and then have no clue why they can't run any sim

Dude, I run office, outlook and AV on my sim computer just fine and no issues. I turn off AV when installing some sim software that has screwy exe install files. Outlook is not a memory hog. I use it all the time during flight simming and it has no effects on my simming operation. Not sure where you 're getting your data from, but it's completely wrong.

As a guy who spends every six months in Level D sims, the weather  in 2024 is miles better than how it looks in a real sim.  First off there is no live weather in a real sim, so it’s all presets.

Must be his system if he's getting issues that no one else gets.

Re: the object culling, LOD curve topic (i.e. landing gears not showing on AI aircraft), there was still some investigation I believe @Kaiii3 and team were doing (per below). Anyone heard any updates since?

LOD curve topic (i.e. landing gears not showing on AI aircraft)

Issue has been around since MSFS 2024 was released, has been reported many times, has been “investigated” many times, has been redirected many times, has been deflected many times … probably a good indication that nothing will be done about it as it’s “by design”.

I get Asobo’s intent is to optimize (more FPS and lower VRAM) as this issues doesn’t seem to bother some users … I have no issue with that and understand the need for console world users … all good.  However, I just would like a graphics setting that allows for culling adjustments for those of us who prefer visual credibility at whatever VRAM/FPS cost comes with that.  Trying to be inclusive here, not exclusive.

Honestly, it’s very much feels like we’re just being strung along … I have patience, but 2 years exceeds my wait time.  There is much good in MSFS 2024, but this is one of those issues I can’t use my blind eye on (being doing that for too long).

No surprise that there is now again radio silence regarding the AI plan gear issue, even by @SeedyL. Only until in the next thread or Q&A, it will be claimed that it is solved again and people proof them again wrong followed by another sequence of radio silence. Always the same story, it would be way more honest if they would simply mark certain bugs as above and beyond their capabilities, but no. As for the weather engine bugs. Empty words of nonsense over and over again and certain bugs now exist for several years. But hey, we will get the seventh WU of the same region soon, no? Sick of this «community interaction» which is none, only if you by chance talk about something that was anyway on their internal list. Or gamebreaking. Other than that, this whole community fuzz is worth not the energy wasted by entering something into Zendesk, forums or whatever means. Pure waste of time, as my rant post just now...

I don’t have any of those problems in Prepar3D. Maybe you should give it a try, too…?

Oh, hey now!!!

I’ve been known to use a blowtorch to cull the Black Widows & egg sacs around my house!

No way am I gonna just wait and hope for pesticide to do its thing.

how can so many still be having issues? Most AVSIMMERS are experienced and do not have problems like the Facebook crowd. I have NEVER had an issue from FS2020 ONWARD why??? just a good clean gaming laptop, comes built married with the proper components from day 1. No home made pc not done right or perhaps anyone with issues has MS OFFICE OR MCCAFFEE loaded...both known evil destroyers of pc performance.

this video is not for most, just those whom continue to have disasters it is really very basic obvious stuff but... perhaps someone will beneift .

I’m in my third gaming pc and second in a row home-built.

None were top quality hardware OR Hi Perf builds even when new (I’m cheap that way).

All 3 still work fine, and the original two are in near daily use for work/admin.

And all of them are even running the original OEM Windows install!

All have the full suite of the Enterprise M365 software, other productivity software, and yes, even an advanced cybersec stack.

Heck, I’m an “enterprise” sysadmin dealing mainly with cloud servers so I’m not even really proficient with desktops or desktop hardware(!)😂

Pretty much zero issues across the board, and almost no futzing about with tweaks or changes is necessary.

All the sims and related peripherals run within their expected performance range, given the hardware specs.

When I do occasionally have issues with one of the five+ sims that I use, it’s almost always an addon as the root cause, and/or a Beta issue with the sim.

The closer I run to a Vanilla install, the fewer problems I have

Which is all a very long way of me saying you’re spreading a lot of F.U.D., even tho there’s a kernel of truth in what you say.

Don’t know if this is something they tuned in SU5 or before and I’m only just noticing it because it’s getting warmer in the north, but the visibility / haze often seems to be very convincing lately. Did they change it in SU5?

i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

Back on to the graphics looking differently - last night I went and reinstalled the sim (it is surirpisingly quick).  After SU5, before reinstall, clouds looked 2d and low resolution (exactly like Easyjetsimpilot's video).  His advice was to reinstall, which I didn't want to do.  However, long story short, my clouds are now back to normal after reinstalling the sim.  3d and well defined.  It is a massive difference, instantly noticeable.

For anyone out there who is running into this problem, I just wanted to share.  The biggest pain for a reinstall is anything that doesn't use the addon linker folder.  I've got to re-setup things like Chaseplane.

I had tried all the usual cache clears, deleting sim cache, but nothing worked.

So, totally a strange issue, but this kind of thing happens in these sims.  Obviously most people aren't impacted by it, but we're not crazy or seeing things.  I suspect a lot of people haven't noticed their clouds looking terrible, as they do look good depending on conditions.  What I couldn't get was big "puffy" clouds like what you'd see on a hot summer day.  I took off from MIA now and the clouds are thick and are back to being 3d.

So, it is helpful when people let us know that they aren't seeing problems on their system.  That let's us know it is not universal issue.  Obviously people would be posting if the sim looked like mine did.

What's not helpful is the gaslighting "you must be making this up".  I guarantee you that I did not want to waste an evening reinstalling.  I'm still setting up and reinstalling addons.

Not to beat a dead horse, just putting this out there for anyone out there still having this issue.  It isn't a great solution, but it helped me.

I'm just happy to have my sim back, which is all I ever wanted.

I wonder if just running the file check in the Xbox App could resolve this issue?  It's not affecting me, but that would be much easier than reinstalling if it works.

I thought of this.  I know in Steam with other games I run this all the time, it just double checks all your files.  However on the Xbox app, I went to click this and it warned me that settings would be erased and overwritten.  Normally I would think verifying the game files would be simple and harmless, but this message scared me away.  I think I did this once and it blew out my community folder unexpectedly and other things.

Ultimately I didn't try it and just went ahead with the reinstall.  I wasn't sure what it would remove.  Normally you'd think the file check would be easy.

new set of notes added

ugh even worse, they removed the older LOD curve option in Dev Mode and more work to make console performance better ... given no response from Speedy, seems unlikely Asobo are going to do any changes to LOD and culling as an option for PC users.  Shame, but I guess it's leaving the door of opportunity open for other platforms so not all bad.

Not sure how accurate Google AI is for this query, but it does seem to match to the direction Asobo development focus.

I guess I get where Asobo are coming from, PC users aren't and will not be the primary target audience ... sorta makes sense given the cost of PC hardware these days.
