Sim Update 5 [1.7.27.0] Now Available | MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

I am considering a full reinstall, the idea crossed my mind a few days ago even before SU5 after trying many things and none of them cured my issue with the bad stutters while changing views. What I'm about to say it is not objective, however sometimes the full reinstall is for my own good sake, gives me calm and peace, at least for one day only to have a vanilla installation is kind of relaxing for checking many things.

As a guy who spends every six months in Level D sims, the weather  in 2024 is miles better than how it looks in a real sim.  First off there is no live weather in a real sim, so it’s all presets.

Having read a number of pages on this post, I often get the impression some people on Avsim are more interested in complaining for the sake of complaining.  I just did 4 flights since SU5 came ou

I never do that.  Just install it.

so just to test this out, I went to a place I know well IRL, and that has always been a strain on my computer regardless of simulator: KLAX, halfway down the cargo ramps. Great view across TWO intermediate runways of the pax gates all up and down the field.

traffic, variety and quantity are all set at High, so there are a LOT of static and AI aircraft around. Not the busiest I’ve ever seen KLAX IRL, but certainly representative.

Almost every single aircraft, static and moving, have their gear showing, along with ground clutter, taxi signs, etc.

The only exception are aircraft and objects way down at the literal end of the runway, and even then I’m seeing the mains if not the nose gear.

According to Google Maps, the nearest pax gates are half a mile away, and the far end of the runway where the nose wheels finally disappear is a mile and a half.

I am not sure what is happening on your PC, but that sure as hell is not the case on mine. Some AI nose wheels disappear when I am barely more than three parking spots away. It takes longer for the main landing gear to disappear, but it ain't anywhere near half a mile. I suspect that my case is far more representative of the average user.

Try doing an approach, and watch it all ‘snap’ in to place. Or another suggestion would be to get yourself to specsavers 😁😉

Just did it in the Lear.

Yes, there’s far scenery pop-in on that long straight final, but compared to what I see in X-Plane, even with TruEarth, it’s till a heckuva sight more realistic.

Maybe you guys need to turn off auto land and y’know…actually fly the plane. 😁🤙

IDK, man. I’m running a mid+ level rig, nothing special. Settings are mostly High, and give me good frames with no stutters, etc. 🤷‍♂️

What I’m seeing is more detailed than XP with TrueEarth (and that’s pretty good in any case!) and certainly more true to life.

Not sure what the difference is between mine and y’all’s, but…

Would be good to list your graphics settings (resolution, DLSS, etc.), monitor size, distance to monitor, add-ons, zoom value, etc. so we can determine the difference.

On my 4K 42” OLED is noticeable, on my 4K 77” OLED it’s VERY noticeable (as you would expect since the distance between my head and the OLED screen is the same … hence why % screen size should NOT be used for culling calculations).

I am using 32:9 double wide (two 32" 16:9), side by side at 1440p with NVIDIA surround.

DLSS anti alias at Quality.

Overall graphics render in msfs is High End but the two LOD's increased from 100 to 140 and offscreen precaching to Ultra.

I never use TAA anti aliasing. Because it overloads my hardware capacity and a smooth flight isn't likely.

All traffic is AI, nothing live.

No stutters in the air, no bothersome scenery popping in when in the air, however planes and buildings do pop into view while taxing after landing. No stutters when changing views or panning the view in cockpit or ourside views.

fps from 49 to 79.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Hit the record button (or hot key sequence for nVidia or AMD) and post on YouTube so we can see what you see.

I run 2K at High, on a 5700X3D with a 4070 12GB.

Desktop Samsung monitor, on the desk.

4K has never been worth the performance hit to me…

There you go then, that’s why it isn’t as noticeable to you. I’m 4K here on a 65 inch display. It’s VERY noticeable.

I told you what I see 😁

I’ll consider a short clip if it’s as easy as that, or perhaps a few screenies.

Well, seems like 4K might not be all it’s cracked up to be then 😉🤙

Just flew out of Sydney Kingston Smith with live weather and live traffic.

Quite busy. Everything had wheels - nose and main gear from near and from far.

i7 12700k,  4070ti Super,  32gigs DDR5, 32" 1440p, 60hz screen,   crappy rural UK Internet.

TAA and FG x 2, TLOD and OLOD 100 on the ground. Settings Ultra or High.

No idea if this helps the debate or not....🙃

I would be interested in your graphics settings, because I don't have the disappearing landing gear issue or lod pops up issues.

I’ve posted numerous videos and my graphics setting.  Something Asobo asked for … because … drum roll … some rando dude on the internet needs to show and tell not just tell 🙂
