Sim Update 5 [1.7.27.0] Now Available | MSFS 2024

I find it hard to understand how anyone can miss it. It is as plain as broad daylight on my tiny 24" monitor, so it should be plastered all over larger screens in flashing NEON lights.

As a guy who spends every six months in Level D sims, the weather  in 2024 is miles better than how it looks in a real sim.  First off there is no live weather in a real sim, so it’s all presets.

Having read a number of pages on this post, I often get the impression some people on Avsim are more interested in complaining for the sake of complaining.  I just did 4 flights since SU5 came ou

I never do that.  Just install it.

Taxying parallel to the runway at Manchester, Easyjet comes in to land about 150 metres ahead of me to the right.  It's nose gear comes into view when it's on the flare and it's landing gear comes into view as it makes contact with the ground.

Everything on high except texture size (medium)

okay, in that case I think I can live with this 'problem '

Ok, at least you've acknowledge there is a problem ... that's a start.

And again, as per my PDX reference earlier in this thread (distance is about 500 ft well within a normal person's visual line of sight):

and move closer ...

it's magic ... my FPS suddenly drop from 1000 FPS to 500 FPS ... oh the horror!

I honestly have no idea why some of you are so defensive in regards to this problem ... what's your motive?  I mean fixing it benefits everyone so I don't get your responses?

The biggest joke is that even @SeedyL claimed it was fixed, yet already proven wrong several times and now nothing, not a single comment from him since.

SayAgain,

Karens gotta Karen - they can't help themselves.

The idea that culling landing gear at a certain distance is going to improve performance when landing gear represent infinitesimally small percentage of vertices in an airport environment is so ludicrous it's really difficult to try and speak about it with any seriousness. I'd like to hear the argument that was used to incorporate this idea into MSFS 2024. Even on my week system it's not like I see a performance improvement when landing gear disappear. And as SayAgain mentions how hard would it have been to included a slider setting that allows us to control the aggressiveness of the culling.

To add further clarification from PDX about 450 ft away:

Hope this helps, pretty sure we're all on the same team here for a better experience.

If you don’t use Defender on your Windows PC you are missing out on the very best, least intrusive AV ever produced for Windows, spending money needlessly and also putting yourself at unnecessary risk IMO.

Just to drive that unnecessary risk point home: many here probably still remember the CrowdStrike outage that took out over 8 million PC's a few years ago (especially if you had a flight that was delayed or canceled as a result). Buggy security/AV software and buggy drivers are pretty much the only software that can BSOD a PC these days. Sure, there is an occasional buggy Windows update, but as long as you don't have that "get the latest updates as ASAP" option checked, those PC-breaking updates have been exceedingly rare for average users.

To be fair, the enterprise SKU of Defender has a bunch of extra bells and whistles, but using the base version in conjunction with an adblocker like uBlock Origin (even the neutered lite version forced on Chrome users) will keep 99% of the sketchy popups from ever loading in the first place.

Hang on, so are the Karens the people complaining about the missing landing gear or the ones who aren't fussed and don't notice / see a problem with it? 😄

Couldn't both perspectives constitute Karen-like behaviours?

then what on earth is the cause of "everyone" not being able to run fs2024 well? I mean yea, the ones who can run fs2024 great, usually don't post much (me included) because we are busy just flying not complaining about it... so I am in that camp so it only leaves the impression that "nobody" can run this thing, which other than self induced ooopsses myself, basically no issues

The answer to your quandry is simple..... absolutely nobody here is as clever as you are.

I mean that can be the only solution, right?

The thing with you is, you'll probably not pick up the satire in this and will probably believe it to be true 😄

I also noticed that the 787 landing gear in particular disappear from a much closer distance than other aircrafts wheels do

No. I don't have a problem with this as I can't perceive it in my sim.

From re-reading the replies in this thread I don't see anyone being 'defensive' about your problem. They are, like me, merely indifferent to it since it doesn't effect us or our tolerance of it as a problem is higher than others.

When I scoot around an airport in 2k at 1440p with TrackIR I simply see wheels. As you have repeatedly told us, you, your wife and others don't.

That's too bad but....🤷‍♂️

You mean "a problem" since I'm not the ONLY person who has reported the issue (311 posts about this problem in the MSFS 2024 official forum).  And there ya go, you've demonstrated "defensive" rather than objective.

Even though from your OWN video, it was pointed out all the aircraft without wheels that you apparently don't see or notice?

So why are you interested in commenting on this problem?

So if you don't have a problem with missing wheels and other small objects, then can we assume you also would NOT have a problem with those same objects being visible?  You see where I'm going with this?  Again, what's you real motive here?

I thought I was being clear?

This is a discussion forum. We're discussing Sim Update 5.

Shock-horror; for all practical purposes your problem is not perceptible to me on my sim. Simple as that.

For what it's worth, I don't have a problem with some of the other things being reported both here and on the official forums. I don't have any perceptible stuttering, I don't have 'melted' buildings or poor ground textures. I don't have any settings or control assignments changing either.

I DO have a whole series of concerns about the weather and I  am disappointed that this SU seems to have bypassed those concerns.

Essentially we're all in a bidding war for dev time and attention for our own pet peeves with the sim.

Can you see where I'm going with this? As far as I'm concerned my weather trumps your invisible wheels.😎

I love it when people start crusades 'on behalf of all of us', when most of us don't see the problem. I guess as long as it keeps you occupied then carry on, it's harmless enough, but don't pretend you are acting for the 'community'. I think most of us would vote or have already voted for issues other than this.
