  1. I disagree. Competition is a good thing for the end-user. It forces the manufacturers to provide the best products that they can make and price them competitively. Win-win for the flight-simmer.
  2. With prices on HDTVs dropping considerably, this is really tempting...
  3. If not mistaken, I'm currently using one that I picked up from the FTX forums (Orbx). I don't remember exactly but I think it's from "Tim"?... I'm running WIn7 64 as well with no problems. I'll definitely be trying a few of the ones recommended above.
  4. Accu-Feel and Shade. I can recommend both.
  5. This is what I did a long time ago (with the more recent addition of Accu-Feel) and it's doing the job until RealAir releases their's.
  6. Thank you, Paul. I have a similar system to you except for the GPU, which mine is not as fast. Will definitely consider AS2012 for the future, as my next purchase will probably be Track IR.
  7. Very nice video, Simmo! AS2012 looks fantastic. I'm seriously considering getting it. Is there a significant framerate hit?
  8. I've got both products and they are must-haves for me. They both add greatly to the immersion factor and that's what counts for me. Wouldn't fly FSX without them.
  9. I recently upgraded as well and I obtained some very good advice from the hardware sub-forum here at Avsim. I highly recommend that you spend some time there and review the many threads on upgrades. You'll be able to make a more informed decision as to what are the best options available for you. (hardware & price/value wise). My specs are to the left. I recently upgraded the MB, CPU, RAM, cooling and operating system. Kept my old Nvidia 460 for the time being but that will be my eventual "next upgrade" to come. Have a great weekend as well!
  10. Good points regarding the objects popping in and out. It does get a little distracting and annoying when changing views or looking away and then back. It's like a domino effect in reverse... Excellent idea regarding LOD settings as well. As for the LatinVFR KMIA airport, where are you guys seeing that it's being updated for better framerate? Last night I went to their website (Cayman) and couldn't find a thread or post regarding that.
  11. I agree that the scenery is quite impressive. The additional auto-gen is amazing. They have managed to cover just about every large building in the area. Flying over Key Biscayne and Miami Beach provides an amazing view. Downtown Miami is also full of skyscrapers and correctly placed buildings. The photoscenery used blends in very well with the default scenery. (daytime, to be specific.) My only negatives are mostly with the night lighting. I find it quite ugly and garish. But at high altitudes it looks considerably better. It's only when flying low and slow that it's bad. Also, just about none of the buildings have night lighting effects. Looks like a blackout has hit South Florida. I also have the LatinVFR KMIA airport which works very well alongside this scenery. I have inactivated Miami City's KMIA in the FSX addon scenery dropdown. Unfortunately, running both gives me a significant FPS hit. But I believe the hit is coming more from the LatinVFR airport than the Miami City 2012 scenery. At the sale price I HIGHLY recommend it. I purchased it full price when it first was released and don't regret it. I don't believe there will be any updates to Miami CIty 2012, although it would definitely benefit from one if it included night lighting on the buildings.
  12. I'm having the same frame-rate hits but I'm running both Latin-VFR KMIA and Miami City 2012. I've turned off MC2012's KMIA and using L-VFR's KMIA but the hit is still brutal on my new PC. I've done a little testing and was surprised to find that it was L-VFR's KMIA that was the big problem, considering the amount of autogen that MC2012 is running. I will say that using both, South Florida looks amazing. I only hope more of the area is covered in a later release.
  13. Great to see this project is still alive. I've got EZdok and it's a must-have add-on. Looking forward to 2.0.
  14. -In North America: "South Florida, The Florida Keys and The Bahamas." A nice change of scenery from what's been released so far. -In Europe: "Switzerland" (The complete country) Small enough to fit in one release and amazingly beautiful scenery.
  15. If you originally purchased it from Aerosoft, try logging into your account and the latest/greatest version should be appearing for download. (if not mistaken) Also, you may want to check the Aerosoft forums and the Katana section in particular.
  16. Ah, could be. Sorry about that.
  17. Carenado makes a nice (although a few years old) version of the 150. I don't have it but I do have the free version from Just Flight. It looks a bit aged but flies pretty good and I've added some addon sounds to it as well.
  18. With WOAI there are updates every now and then. Things have been quite lately but they do get updated from time to time. If not mistaken, WOAI flight plans are in FS9 format and if installed, will have you loose your FSX AI flight plans from appearing. What I do is install the airline(s) and then convert to FSX format using another tool (which I can't remember now, as I'm not at home...) This will once again allow all other FSX format AI flight plans to work fine. WOAI AI also follows the the FSX AI airliner traffic slider, as tofupete stated. So you can adjust the traffic as you see fit. The framerate hit is actually minimal (for the most part) and the graphics are actually pretty good. I've got a mixture of WOAI, Orbx and custom AI traffic flying around (Airliner settings to 75%) and the FPS hit is not bad.* *I'm currently running a old duo core 6750 with 4Gigs of RAM and an Nvidia 460 GPU. My new upgrade should be literally arriving any second now (UPS shows "out for delivery"!!)
  19. Love this repaint! (N1324Z) Just downloaded it now and will be installing it in a bit. Thanks for sharing!!
  20. Definite frame rate improvement for me. Still have to test further but so far, so good.
  21. Beautiful shot! Many years ago, I built a 1/72 scale model kit of Cousteau's PBY. I still have the Billings Boats "Calypso" kit to finish.
