  1. If it is anything like some of their other API's, it will suddenly become VERY expensive. The Google Maps and places API provides $200 per month of free data, but once you go over the limit -- watch out!
  2. I find locking the FPS with Riva Tuner gives better results than doing it in the Nvidia settings.
  3. I've seen this so called texture popping (I'd prefer to describe it as texture swapping) while flying in non photogrammetry areas around the lower Fraser Valley in BC for probably over a year now. It only seems to occur at low altitudes (500 ft agl or lower). It is not that noticable during most flights, but it can break the immersion during low flight and approaching to land.
  4. The built in headphones and mic work very well for me too. You may decide to leave them on.
  5. I have been struggling with this as well and my mouse is wired. It seems okay at times and then suddenly really starts to lag. Makes cockpit interactions difficult to impossible when it happens. I manage, because I do a lot of my interactions using voice attack.
  6. I can't comment on the yoke as I still use an older CH Joystick with a Logitech throttle quadrant, but, after upgrading my PC and purchasing the HP Reverb G2 so I could try VR, I simply cannot go back to 2D. I did experience a bit of dizziness at times when I first tired it, but that is because you really feel like you are moving. The perspective of sitting inside the plane and the increased situational awareness, sense of speed and motion etc. far out weighs the drawbacks IMO. Having said that the, the only way to know if you would like VR is to actually try it. No amount of Youtube videos or reading experiences of others can really let you know what it is like. There is a learning curve and it can take quite some time to get used to it all and get the settings dialed in to your liking.
  7. https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2022-intel-core-i9-13900k-core-i5-13600k-review?page=2 On a contrary note, this benchmark on Eurogamer lets you compare multiple Intel and AMD CPU's in MSFS including a moving fps graph that is synced to a recorded flight. It shows the 13900k performing well ahead of the 5800x3d. Even the I5 13600k out performs the 5800x3d it by a significant margin in their test. Which benchmark should we believe? I don't know if Eurogamer is a reliable benchmark site or not, but the real-time synced comparisons look reasonable when comparing other CPU's. It matters to me as I am planning a new build.
  8. I'm looking a building a new system myself coming from a similar system to yours (4770K and 1070TI). I've been considering the same 3 CPUs. I was leaning towards the 5800x3d at first due to the numerous claims of superior performance in MSFS, but the benchmarks at https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2022-intel-core-i9-13900k-core-i5-13600k-review?page=2 have me leaning toward the new I5 13600k which is outperforming both of the AMD offerings in MSFS. It is also a better CPU for non gaming tasks and you can still use less expensive DDR4 memory. Of course CaptainNicks advice to go with the 7600x is also worthy of consideration due to a potentially better upgrade path, but at this time the 13600K will outperform it.
  9. You could also look into voice attack. It is only $10 US and you can then do anything that you can do with the keyboard using voice commands. Takes a bit of time to get it set up, but it sure frees up your hands while flying.
  10. It is streamed as you fly, not downloaded onto your computer. I imagine those files only contain instructions for what data should be streamed.
  11. No, it is still there, you only loose the new PG.
  12. I've seen this often as well including in my X-plane install using ortho4xp. If you check the same area in Bing maps you will likely see the same anomaly. The areas each side of the line have imagery from different dates, sometimes even different seasons or years. Pretty hard to avoid with ortho photos, but hopefully one day they can develop some AI to blend all of the orthophotos into more consistent and realistic colors. That would hopefully get rid of those pervasive green roads and overly green textures that we see so often in the sim.
  13. The following method is quick and will remove the new expanded photogrammetry, but still leave the pre WU11 PG around downtown Vancouver intact. It also leaves all the other WU 11 upgrades in place. I would assume that all other Canadian cities would also revert to their pre WU11 PG as well, so you still get some photogrammetry, just not the new cities or expanded areas. You do have to restart the sim for the change to take affect. I also had a big performance hit from the new photogrammetry - worse performance around Vancouver than over KLAX or NYC. Never had that issue before this update.
  14. After waiting so long for the Canada update I must say I am disappointed. It was nice to see the greatly expanded photogrammetry coverage in Greater Vancouver until I started to look a little closer and fly around it. I don't expect photogrammetry to look good up close, but it should not look this bad from 1000 feet AGL. Giant trees are also embedded into the sides of some high-rises like some of the older PG cities used to have. Even more disappointing is the loss of about 6 FPS. This causes stutters and a performance drop well below my 30 FPS target on my older system. I now get significantly better performance at KLAX or over Manhattan than over Vancouver. I had to remove the photogrammetry cities portion of the update to get my performance back and, until this new photogrammetry gets reworked, it looks better too - at least in Vancouver.
  15. I saw cars crossing the runways in KLAX where the underground tunnel is located, but only when I tried DX12.
  16. DX11 and TAA. I haven't tried DX12 yet and my GPU is to old for DLSS.
  17. Yes it is gone. Using a test scenario, I am getting better framerates on the ground at KLAX in SU10 with all photogrammetry cities enabled than I was in SU9 with them disabled. So the degraded performance is gone and I am seeing another 10% increase in performance on top of that.
  18. That surprises me. I owned an Extreme 3D Pro years back. It was the worst joystick I owned by far. Almost unusable due to being too light weight and very erratic inputs. Best was my old MS sidewinder until it finally died. I'm still using my trusty CH Products Flightstick Pro, but it is getting old and less precise now. Starting to think about replacing it.
  19. What an incredible journey and pictures. It is quite amazing that we can now explore the diverse landscapes and cityscapes of the world from our home like this. Thanks for sharing.
  20. As long as you have enough system ram to support all of the applications you are running concurrently you should not see any drop in FPS. I manage running MSFS concurrently with several other applications on 16GB of ram. However, if you do fill up your ram, every running program will struggle.
  21. I prefer the 21:9 format. It gives a little more peripheral vision without turning your head. This especially helps during the flare and improves overall immersion IMO. I do use Track IR as well.
  22. Noticing glitches with the time today as well. The flight conditions page has been displaying my local time as the same as GMT even though they are 8 hours difference.
