1. Looking for some guidance on bringing two mixed sets of ram together as one. The ram is the Corsair Dominator series: 2x4GB 2133 c9-11-10-27 1.50v 2x4GB 3000 c12-14-14-36 1.65v My system: ASUS Z87 PRO running the I5 4670 @ 4.7ghz My goal: 16GB system ram running somewhere between 2400 C9 to 2600 C10
2. And its not going to get any better. Try being a property inspector in Silicon Valley ....field experience means nothing these days.
3. Id sit tight til you have V4 installed, then act according to your needs. I get the sense with V4 that if you need more than 8 gigs of system ram then you're probably gonna need more than 4 gigs of video ram. So your upgrading may not stop with system ram. re: upgrading memory I would dispose of your existing memory and install a new 2 x 8GB kit.
4. Keep an eye out on Amazon. Just last month I picked up some brand new Corsair 2x4GB 3000MHZ C12 memory for like $180 shipped. Last I looked, Corsair is still marketing it. Good stuff too ....the XMP worked like a champ at 4.75MHZ with my I5-4670 on the Z87 Pro. Heck, It even runs at 1T.
5. I only fly PMDG tubes. Having said that: I just upgraded from P3D V 2.5 to V3 just to accommodate the new PMDG 747. It was brutal transition in terms of cost and time - and well worth it - but I wouldn't have even considered the move if couldn't bring along the FTX Nor Cal. ...Now, I could've done without without the FTX So Cal scenery as I can't tell difference between the default scenery and the FTX scenery. <vbg>
6. I think these bios switches have be enabled to allow the CPU to fall back to 1.6 GHZ: -Speedstep -Turbo Mode -CPU C1E
7. I'm reminded of the movie Clockwork Orange......
8. I'm going chime in here ....in one of those moods: Since upgrading to SP1d I've had pretty much every issue that others have shared on these forums including this one. I also tried every suggested remedy to fix these issues with no success. Anyway, long story short, what seems to have cured all my woes with the 737 was clearing the Windows 7 prefetech with a utility called Tweak Prefetch - I uninstalled the NGX and all associated files before running the prefetch utility.
9. This reminds me of my NASCAR Racing days. I had a $700 controller with $2.00 POTS ...I got pretty good at changing POTs, so good that I could change'em during a pit stop. Something to try in a pinch: shorten the range of the throttle motion within the calibration app -in your case, begin and end the throttle motion above the trouble spot.
10. Just to back up what others with success are posting here? -I don't really get the nay sayers, as this tweek is so simple to apply and try. In terms of performance, nothing is "sacrificed" with the fiber swiitch The ONLY tweek I'm running in the config is the "fiber" -mine is at zero, and running the in-sim FPS limiter -mine is at 30 What I get with the tweek: -double the minimum frame rates -a fully immersive horizon to horizon landscape with the sharpest textures, LOD and autogen that seems to go beyond what is advertised -clouds and fog don't seem to have an affect on performance -no input lag with the controllers ....despite using the ingame fps limiter -smooth rendering This by far is the most important "tweak" I have ever used in my gaming career, it's like I doubled the rendering power of my puter by a factor of 2
11. WOW! Fiber zero with frame lock at 30 nets me something that feels like double the performance. Orbix Nor-Cal over SFO is as smooth as silk! Autogen and texures stay in focus to the horizon, all with no apparent I/o lag. I can fly an f-14 2 feet above the bay through a mosqutos &@($* at the speed of sound -blind folded! ....incredible tweak!
12. 2500K still running like new at 5.0 on the original ASUS P8P67 Deluxe .....yeah, the SATA 3 ports are gone and have been for awhile, but I've made do without them. I actually bought a Haswell kit several months ago ...it's still in the box.
13. I think, as a juror, I'd have a hard time excusing Malaysian Airlines from significant responsibility in this loss. Since the beginning of this calender year how many aircraft have been lost over the Ukraine?
14. @ Ron: Fair enough :-) let me edit my quoted post to *cease the distribution *of fixers. Oh, and you're never to old to be a 'dude'.
15. Ron- please don't quote me anymore, especially when using rolling eyes. ...But I guess I should explain my sense of wonder: If I were a dude to purchase a "franchise license" (story is the AVSIM forum), I might request that third parties cease the distribution "fixers" for FSX.
16. Hmm??? I wonder if that has anything to do with the license sale of Microsoft's flightsim ?
17. Yeah, the cpu is fine, and coupled with the 760 you should be able to handle lots of weather and shader intensive airports with ease.
18. Yeah, I'd drop the AA down to 2xsgaa .....and turn the cloud shadows on. ....Oh, and don't forget to delete your shader file.
19. Favorites short: KRNO to KSFO med: KSFO to KLAX long: KSFO to KSAN
20. Try this: [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=15 -add to your Prepar3D.CFG

22. ...I Don't want to be right. Doods! Get yourself the Orbix Nor-Cal scenery, ASN -using real time weather, a Tomcat, and take off heading east from Pine Mountain lake. Once you're over the valley dial in Time Preview -making sure cloud shadows are enabled, and tell me that isn't one the most incredible sights you have ever seen in the simulated world. WOW!
