  1. Signs that a new sim is on the way. Devs want to make as much money from what is soon to be obsolete products before that launch. It isn't only for FSX, P3D is experiencing the same phenomenon.
  2. Thank-You basementflyguy, for doing these comparison shots. This makes the decision a bit easier. I am not a huge fan of rex textures, but in this case they are a little better than the competition. I'll keep my wallet in my pocket for a little while longer. Jazz
  3. Very cool shots. Really like the reflections in the last pic.
  4. The perfect combo to go with the orbx freeware, Nanaimo Water Aerodrome (CAC8) and your favourite float plane. I am eagerly awaiting the Milviz deHavilland dhc2 Beaver for that very reason. Jazz
  5. Those are some very nice shots. Is that scenery a part of Vancouver+? Jazz
  6. Orbx are working on a utility to analyze and fix the issue with the LC lookup file and the missing/mixed up textures. Which will be released "soon". But they haven't mentioned anything about fixing the blurry textures which occur after a few minutes of flying. I encountered these blurries while flying from CYYZ to CYUL, using global base, vector and open lc Alaska/Canada in a clean install of P3Dv3.35. Anyways, a reinstall of everything, P3D plus Orbx. (global base, vector, open lc Alaska/Canada, PNW, PFJ, and the March 2016 Orbx libraries) I now have a sim which looks, and performs beautifully. I am certain that in time, Orbx will get all of these issues sorted out. In the mean time, I will avoid updating the Orbx libraries, and the possibility of the unified lc lookup update being triggered. Jazz
  7. Hi Mike, I know that eventually I will have to upgrade to ftx central 2.1, and the unified LClookup file. Especially since I do want to purchase the upcoming Open LC North America. I can wait till Orbx have fixed their issues and everything is working as it is intended. In the meantime, I will enjoy my limited P3Dv3 sim time without blurry textures and the associated performance drop. Jazz
  8. Blurriness over here as well, thanks to the orbx unified LC thing-a-ma-jig. After reinstalling my orbx scenery, and blocking ftx central with my firewall, I have finally gotten back to clear textures. No more of ftx central phone home bull-crud. Jazz
  9. Considering that there isn't any runway to land on, there isn't much in the way of lighting for a ground reference, except moonlight. Landing a frozen otter on a snow bank, in the dark, is quite the achievement. Something to try out in P3D, with the Aerosoft otter, for sure. Jazz
  10. Just saw this on the news. They have picked up the sick worker, and are on their way back to the British base at Rothera Point. From there the patient will be flown to the US for treatment. Quite a challenging environment to be operating in. The total darkness is bad, -60C, is just crazy. Kudos to the team from Kenn Borek Air, for even attempting this. Jazz
  11. $60 for an upgrade for the existing MD80, or a completely new, from scratch, MD80? I will not pay 60 for an upgrade to the existing aircraft.
  12. Have you checked with the mobo vendor for an updated bios? Updated mobo drivers?
  13. 'Merica = Land of the free, home of the lawsuit! What a sad state of affairs. I feel for Mr. Meyer, and anyone else getting shafted by these crooks. Wish him the best of luck.
  14. Thank-You, Rob. That is all I wanted to know. I appreciate your keeping us in the loop with regards to LM and their continuing development of P3D. Cheers, Craig
  15. Rob, back in the days of P3Dv2, LM commented on developing for v2 being continued up to v2.5. Have LM made any such comments towards how far they will carry P3Dv3? Cheers, Craig
  16. Are you saying that you have a pickup truck capable of approaching the speed of sound? You should contact nascar, Daytona and 'Dega would never be the same. LOL!
  17. If you don't need the failures, or the 125hz controls, go for the Pilot version. Learn to fly it first, and then upgrade to the Pro version for just the price difference. If you purchase from Just Flight, you receive bonus points which can be redeemed to reduce the upgrade cost even further. Craig
  18. Orbx have stated that there will be a price increase, starting in June/July. Could we expect P3Dv4, around that time as well? There have been whispers on this very forum, that P3Dx64/v4 isn't that far away.
  19. This is great news. According to Aerosoft, they will release an app for a variety of platforms. I'm SOLD! Thanx, Lashrathius, for the heads up.
  20. Ftx central phones home, every time you install a new Orbx product. As well as when you start FTX central to change regions or check for updates for the Orbx libraries. Orbx are not the only devs to do this. (FSDT, Flightbeam)
  21. For the Q400, I have a pair of saitek quads setup, for the gust lock, power, condition, and flap levers. I have no need to look at the quad in the cockpit. There are people using this in XPX, and yes, it does require a plugin for both XPX and FSX. It does work without a plugin, but only for trimming. Wind effects, and taxiway rumble, etc, do not work without it, unless the aircraft in question, supports these things. AP following is another issue altogether. Craig
  22. I haven't had too much time to play with it yet. I did test it out in the Majestic Q400, and was pleasantly surprised. Trimming the aircraft has taken on a whole new feeling. Also, it was sooo nice being able to flare properly, versus my worn out saitek. In my opinion, light years ahead of any joystick, at any price point. It doesn't come with a quadrant, but there is a wide range of uses for a basic yoke, from Cessna's 152, to Boeing's 747. A quad is a very different animal that comes in a wide range of styles for the wide range of aircraft. The question for the developer is which one to bank on? A motorized quad does cut down on the possibilities, but still, too many to make profitable and, at the same time, affordable. Craig
  23. I have the new dragonfly yoke. I haven't taken it apart yet, but I do believe they got rid of the gearing. The roll motor is now mounted direct to the shaft. Craig
  24. Hi Rhys, How exactly are you loading the dash? Are you selecting it from the startup scenario screen, or after loading a default aircraft at the gate? Craig
