  1. To be fair, the QW787 tends to over shoot the tracking while on LNAV causing the airplane to over compensate and try to get back onto the route. However, at least for me, that seemed to be smoothed out with the last update. Still not perfect, but you can see that QW is very well aware of the issue and continuously working on a fix. As for VNAV, I don't recall having an issue with it and I believe some folks were having issues with the plane not descending at TOD. I never experienced that. Lastly, the weather radar issues, I've personally never experienced any issues using it and I've used it from inception. Never experienced any CTD's with the aircraft as well. What I'm trying to get at, everyone seems to have very different experiences with the aircraft with regards to stability. IMHO, it speaks to how well your system is optimized, maintained and updated. This hobby of ours tends to unmask hidden issues with systems that other pieces of software or games tends to just overlook because it's so resource heavy. There are multiple Twitch and YouTube videos of folks using this plane without any issues. That alone should help anyone trying to make a decision on whether to purchase this aircraft or not.
  2. Great plane, just missing that multi crew experience, but FS2CREW will be working on it.
  3. Personally think it was perfect timing. For the majority of the approach, winds didn't appear to be as strong until they made the turn to final. Once they started to experience what appeared to be downdrafts or a windshear, they got the hell out of there.
  4. I appreciate it. I'll have to try this at some point and see if there is any benefit on my system.
  5. See if these forum posts helps you at all: Seems some are seeing better results with HT off. Not sure if that's the majority as I currently run my 6700K with HT on and not really seeing the speed variation.
  6. DSR is a new on me. How are you using this in P3D if P3D is not running in true full screen? I tried it, but not sure if I was doing it right. Didn't make much of a difference, so I'm sure I was not doing it right.
  7. It's advisable to get P3D off of core 0 since windows likes to use that specific core. I'm afraid stutters are just something we learn to live with in P3D, but there are ways to mitigate it considerably. Moving P3D off of core 0 and giving it it's own core helps a bit, giving it some headroom, so to say, to breathe and do it's thing, Note though that whatever core you assign, P3D will still have a usage of almost 100% or close to it at least. Running process lasso seems to help me a lot, while nothing else appears to work. Not even locking frames internally or externally. I run a 1080 27" 144hz monitor that seems to like frames at unlimited and gives the smoothest performance. My hardware is similar to yours, although I'm running a 6700K @ 4.5 GHZ with a 1080ti.
  8. I most certainly agree! The smell of Jet A is absolutely addictive.
  9. Thank you all! I really like that last one also.
  10. sometimes I forget to appreciate our hobby in all it's glory. We have certainly come a long way!
  11. He may be on to something. In my mind an algorithm could be run to pit your system and settings against set simulation situations and automatically fine tune your system based on FPS, GPU/CPU usage and memory usage. Easy to say, I'm sure hard to do across multiple simulation platforms, let alone one.
  12. Denni, of course your system can run P3D at a smooth FPS. There are some considerations that will need to be undertaken. However, one question. Why is your 6700K down clocked to 2.6 GHZ?
  13. Matthew, I haven't experienced this in this region when I flew there recently and I have the same addons installed as you, sans pro atc x. However, it sounds very familiar to the time when the 777 first launched and I had this happen to me whilst flying into VHHH constantly. Always on approach, about 10 minutes before landing. It was quite vexing with no obvious fixes. The way I fixed my issue was double checking Event Viewer and checking for any hard faults in windows, identifying and curing those problems as best as I could if I had any faults (and there were, nothing related to FSX/P3D). Then I made sure my Microsoft.Net files were updated to the latest version and same for Microsoft Visual C++ redistributals (I know there were some recent updates to these from Microsoft). Once I did all of that, no further issues. Here's an excerpt from Avsim's CTD Guide: Make sure your Microsoft Visuals are installed properly and up-to-date. Microsoft Visuals are used by developers to make sure their software is installed properly and as intended. Link to Microsoft Visuals. There is also a Visual C++ Runtime Installer at the following link that will install them all - Visual C++ Runtime Installer (All in One). The latest list of installed Microsoft Visuals is shown below (FSX (boxed) and P3Dv4) but may change due to frequent updates. Here is the link mentioned in the CTD Guide for the Microsoft Visuals All in One Installer: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/multipack_visual_c_installer.html Hope this helps.
  14. I’m so jealous! Enjoy Vancouver. One of my favorite destinations. So damn expensive now though, but still enjoyable.
  15. IMHO the AS CRJ is not that bad. Better software than what other developers put out there by a long shot. The AS Airbus will not disappoint I’m sure. As long as Aerosoft is up front and honest with the potential pitfalls and forthcoming with information and updates immediately after release, that should be enough to keep their customer base happy. My wallet is primed and ready for release day.
  16. Thanks for your kind words John. Certainly a treat to fly, erm simulate. Although I’ve flown BA domestically in Europe a few times, I’ve never had the pleasure of flying on their heavies at all. I actually enjoy their mozzarella and tomato sandwiches in coach. Wonder if they still serve it.
  17. I have to say this was the most visceral experience I've ever had within flight simulation. With the combination of PMDG's 747 v3's "Cockpit Shaking Feature" partnered with the real-time weather generated by ActiveSky, I actually began to sweat during the climb out to cruise. I knew the weather wasn't the best, but the weather I experienced was completely unexpected. Pictures do not convey enough of the situation. I wish I had recorded it. Normal pushback from A-26 at KIAD. Slight indication that the weather would not be the best as I taxi away from the gate area out to the runway. But certainly nothing I could not handle...right. This is where I realized what I got myself into. Confirmation that this was going to be a hell of a ride! Then I further realized my flightplan took me right into the path of the storm. A view from the outside. What you don't see and what these pictures do not convey are the up drafts, down drafts and turbulence passing through the clouds. The "Cockpit shaking feature" that PMDG introduced with the new 747, made the ride terrifyingly real. At this point I realize the worst isn't over and hope the weather tops out below FL350 which is my planned cruise. I ended up amending my cruise to FL370, which did not help. By the way, notice that I have the anti-ice system on. Several ice warnings while going through the clouds. I must of heard the stall warning twice (fleeting, but still heard it) with the shifting winds. We got through it and performed a normal cruise across the pond where we were greeted with this great sunrise. A bit of cloud cover over London, but a heck of a lot better than when we departed Dulles. Not sure who was happier to land, me or the plane. Safely parked at Heathrow.
  18. If you do happen to be near JFK, head to the Bayhouse Restaurant. Little known eatery on the approach path to JFK with spectacular views of oncoming aircraft. It's very busy on weekends, but sparse on weekdays. http://www.bayhousebar.com/
  19. So disappointed in Feelthere! This is twice now. I agree, a pointless release, except to line their pockets.
  20. As long as you do not uninstall the main P3D file you should be ok. Matt Davies put together a great vid on this very topic, albeit for 4.1, but still relevant to 4.2. See link below to the video: Hope it helps.
  21. It's definitely not lite, but not PMDG level either. Probably more like the Aerosoft Airbus. Just enough to keep you busy and engaged. I own it for FSX, but it's been collecting dust since I don't use that platform any longer. Like everyone else, waiting for the P3D version. When it's finally done, hopefully it will get some love from FS2CREW, but I know it depends on the SDK being released to Bryan.
  22. Am I misreading this statement then: "The work for Service Pack 1 is largely complete and we’re currently testing all changes / bugfixes along with the P3Dv4 version of the plane. We’re pursuing a simultaneous release of SP1 for FSX and the P3Dv4 version so that both variants are on the same status." Based on that, sounds like the P3Dv4 version is not to far off. Edit: Sorry, think you were talking about the 757 release.
  23. A few months ago, I upgraded my case to a Corsair Obsidian 750D. Mainly because it lacked all of those silly features as you say, but also needed some extra space for the 1080 and all the cooling I planned to add inside. This case was mainly made for an air-cooled CPU, but I installed an H100i v2 water cooler. I have to say, the airflow is pretty superb with this case. Definitely not disappointed. It's quite big though, but I believe this style case comes in different sizes.
