  1. I reinstalled all of P3D31 frresh and when I installed 737NGX Base, it did not ask for the registration code. Is there something that tells me its properly registered? Also, I have not installled SP1C or SP1D, which is appropriate fir P3D31? Thanks, Jeff Callender
  2. I ran P3D v 1, 2 and 3.0 perfectly from day one with it. Only developed this with the 3.1 update.
  3. I think it's definitely P3D3.1 that is the problem. I changed the USB and power settings in Win10, yet the same thing happened. When the yoke/pedals froze on a flight this afternoon, I unplug/replug the USB cable and I can hear Win10 recognize the connection, but P3D does not. Going to Options/Controls caused a CTD. Looks like I'll need to nuke it and reinstall. JBC
  4. I am having a real problem with losing my CH yoke and pedals at various points through the flight in v3.1. I did not have this problem in any previous version of P3d. Have latest register FSUIPC, although don't use ot for controls. I can reattach with options/controls, but about half the time I get a CTD when that happens. Before I nuke it and do a full reinstall, anyone have any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff Callender
  5. For widefs and wide client, simconnect is not needed.
  6. I think i saw some microstutters on the refueling drogue.
  7. I find that the PMDG pushback is not very flexible as to distance. If you select left or right, the distance defaults to 396 feet and can't be changed. I use GSX almost exclusively.
  8. I have a particular issue to which P3D seems to be particularly sensitive. The issue is ground traffic driving into aircraft, causing a reset. This morning, I spent 45 minutes getting a flight setup in P3Dv3 with the 737NGX, from Miami to St. Martin. I get it all setup, start pushback, start engines and WHAM! out of nowhere an airport truck drives right into me resetting everything back to default. 45 wasted minutes. I find that on practically every flight, I to dodge an airport vehicle, be it a fuel truck, tug or pickup during taxi. It seems that the sim generates them on purpose. I don't why these autogen vehicles don't include awareness of taxiing aircraft. P3D is very complex and this seems a rather obvious feature that should be in the sim. I know, I can set it to ignore collisions and set airport traffic to zero, but that shouldn't be necessary, in my opinion. Jeff C.
  9. That is one old book. Haven't seen those panels is long, long time....
  10. I use MyTraffic Pro and vPilot and P3Dv3 with no problems.
  11. I have an m.2 adapter on the mobo with a 480gb SSD and three 240gb traditional SSD's. love them. I saw a 240gb drive for $60 the other day. Prices are becoming very attractive.
  12. I was flying into Orlando (KMCO) yesterday in the 737NGX about dusk and I marveled at the detail and the complexity of P3D, even with some faults. As I turned in the waning sunlight, I saw the shadows dance across the cockpit and the dials and control knobs. The shadows cast by the knobs were longer due to the setting sun. The light had a slightly orange cast to it as it often does late in the day. The shadows lengthened as my angle to the sun flattened. Today as I took off from Dallas I could see the shadows of the scattered clouds play across the landscape as I climbed out. Both Microsoft and LM get ripped in the forums for things that we all wish worked a little better, but the truth is that this is an amazing piece of software to start with and LM has added and extended some tremendous features. We are able to create and live in our own little simworlds and interact with each other in real time on a worldwide basis. Thanks, MS and LM. Jeff Callender
  13. I think Win10 works great with P3D 2.5, have had no compatibility issues with numerous aircraft, sceneries and add-ons.
  14. Did a clean install of Win 10 Pro 64 bit, P3D 2.5 and all associated software - I think it was in the neighborhood of 20 add-ons including ASNext. Haven't any errors of any kind. I am also using Rex Soft Clouds. As with everything, each users mileage may vary. I understand the frustrations. My hot button is getting multi monitors exactly as I like them.....
  15. Boeing, for me at least is much more intuitive. I must admit, though, I'm not up to custom waypoints and offsets and things like that, yet. I can use the airbus, but I still have a bit of trouble on descents and approaches.
  16. They came out today with an optional download to allow users to control updates. Jeff
  17. I took the opportunity of a Win 10 Preview install to zap FSX - haven't flown FSX in many months, so what's the point of taking up space on a perfectly good SSD? Interesting to note that in the P3D uninstall/reinstall, I have over 30 Flight Sim related products to reinstall. Scenery, Aircraft, utilities, it doesn't end, I have another couple of days of installs, config and tweaking simconnect and network connections until I can get a flight in. I first bought MS Flight Simulator way back in about 1986 and faithfully purchased every version since. The few times I flew in FSX since installing P3D over a year ago, the visuals just don't seem quite up to par with P3D. Now it's Win 10 and P3D for me. Jeff Callender
  18. Look in the scenery.cfg file itself. The entries for those scenery areas will have a line something like: Local=ORBX\FTX_OLC\OLC_EU1 It may also say "Remote:" rather than local and it may not have the location. Just add the line "Local:" with the scenery folder location and delete the "Remote" line if there is one. That is what fixed the same problem for me.
  19. I installed P3D on it's own SSD in a clean install of Win10 Preview 10162. Interesting that I was able to get P3D 2.5 12945 installed, but the install of 12946 bombed during the DirectX part of the install. Not quite sure why. Now the fun begins.
  20. I don't quite know which may be the proper forum for this. Today, for the first time in many years, my computer developed a slight, random, intermittent latency in keyboard input and mouse movement and clicks. Its as if the cursor "sticks" or the scroll wheel doesn't scroll or the clicks don't register. Last a second or a few seconds, but is maddening to say the least. I have not seen this on any computer an many years, now inexplicably, this has started, I tried a system restore for several prior dates, but it still happens. I did not install any software that I am aware of. In searching the web the indications are that something is using an inordinate amount of cpu resources, but nothing seems to be spiking on task manager. The fix has always been a complete wipe and reinstall.....this hs not happened in a long, long time. Have an i7-4770 16bg ram, all SSD's, twin Zotac 980GTX's, MSI Z97 Gaming 7 MoBo. All has worked flawlessly unitl now. I Fly P3D 2.5 and am about to wipe FSX as I haven't flown in FSX since before Christmas. Any thoughts or similar experiences would be appreciated. Jeff Callender
  21. I am also looking at the environment lights around the airport as Rob taxis and they are much more realistic, whereas I seem to have these large glowing orbs. I have experimented with the bloom variables and some others but have yet to have much impact.
  22. If center tanks are empty, but center pumps are on, you will get a fuel warning. Turn center pumps off.
  23. One of the major reasons for the free upgrade is the millions of pirated copies in the Far East. MS wants to get as many of those users as possible back on a licensed version so that they can then detect and control the other pirated software. MS, like many other software companies is migrating to a SAAS company - Software as a Service. Soon, there will no longer be boxed commercial software available, it will all be SAAS and it will be for rent and subscription. Free Win 10 is the first major gambit in that effort. Personally, I think Apple is far more onerous that MS, but since they are the "cool" company, nobody worries about it. They lock your operating system, control your hardware and upgrades, control your pictures, your music, your video. They send out itunes updates every 15 minutes or so and try to install two or three other pieces of software at the same time. Much more Orwellian, in my opinion.
