Simcheck A300: my pimped version, with ISG FMS and ND
Barnstormer1 replied to Stick's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Been using this setup with the Simcheck for over a yr now I'm guessing. I still, on occasion, get a scenerio where the LNAV will not couple. Not all the time, its wierd. Using the server gauge in HDG mode. Simcheck doesnt use a normal FS HDG SDK mode so strange things can occur. Ernie suggested installing a default HDG button for reliability. -
So. What is this "fatal error." I run FSX on a dedicated computer and it is extremely stable!

It is hard on a system. Its the only plane I own that will give me sutters! Thought it was just me. As far as flying a 737 out of KTEX with a RWY of 6800 FT and an ELV of 11,000 ft. It would be a challenge if possible at all. I have done quite abit of flying bigs and heavies in the Andies. Their rwys are 12,000+ ft and it takes all of it to get airbourne. KTEX is more of a corporate jet airport. Flown many King Airs and Cjets in and out of there. -
Shimmering textures middle\far distance
Barnstormer1 replied to misgav's topic in The FS2004 (FS9) Forum
Using higher supersampling settings in Nvidia inspector will help. Reducing Mip in FS9 also reduces the texture quality. If you have a powerful enough Video Card you can use Nvidia inspector to reduce or eliminate it. Not sure a 9800 would take high AA settings without hurting performance? -
The Ivy Bridge countdown

I wont be upgrading my SB. From my research, these CPU's are intended for,as simon says, for efficiency and onboard graphics performance. -
Looks the same as my FSX.

++. heck, we can't even get a King Air 350! Everybody has to put their hands on the biggest thing they can find! :) -
You dont want to remove it from your system file. I couldnt install FLIGHT because I removed it. Some reason flight is looking for it. That was beta, not that I give a Hoot now! :)

Why I like Flight and hope it succeeds...

Tweaking and or tuning is part of and what makes FSX a hobby. Like a gardner keeping his tools sharp!! -
What Addons Have Had The Greatest Impact For You?

REX as I spend 95% of my time in the clouds. -
The range of the Mustang is limited and its Slooooooow. The G1000, though pretty, functionality is limited (No Vnav advisory modeled). If one wants to to do a cross country flight or a little 200 mi jump , the CJetx is good for both.

These were known back in January during beta testing. Not sure how quickly that is? -
My new toy!
Barnstormer1 replied to Ben Cap's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
Watch your GPU temps. You may want to up the default fan speed for the GPU. I run mine around 60% to keep cooler. FSX gpu temps are nouthing like FLIGHT temps (When I beta tested it) on my 580 but I never liked stock fan speeds. -
Keeping your PC clean
Barnstormer1 replied to HED's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
A plastic hose (Vac cleaner) is difficult to ground and can build up a charge even though a person or computer is grounded. When it gets above 20kv it will discharge to any thing with a lesser difference in potential. Had alot of experience yrs ago cleaning the inside of office equipment. The old MOSFET devices were the very sensitive to static devices. CMOS not nearly as crucial. On the subject I have noticed since building a high air flow HAV Coolermaster 944 I have way,way less dust issues as I had with my way smaller midtower. -
