  1. I have to admit, after looking at the engine tab in the Comanche tablet in awe the first few flights I don't really ever open it now. In fact I don't really want to. It's not realistic. I can hear the cylinder misfiring (for example) and that is my cue as to something being wrong. Or my power dropping because I've got carb icing. Knowing something is wrong via some magic tablet is kinda weird. That said, as a learning tool, especially the Duke tablet, it is pretty freaking cool.
  2. "So we are completely changing the architecture of the sim" Massive performance improvements
  3. It definitely happens in other titles. You cannot upscale without some loss of quality. That performance gain must come at cost. Most games just don't have such small text, like in a cockpit, so you don't notice.
  4. DLSS renders the game at a lower resolution and then upscales it. It's fairly good tech, but when it comes to small lettering and numbers, well... it's not great. DLAA (without DLSS) is just temporal AA and renders at native res, so it should be comparable to TAA (but imo TAA still looks better). I've never tried this, because I don't have the raw horsepower, but you could force DSR scaling in nVidia CP to force your GPU to render at a higher than native resolution (similar to TAA and setting the render scale over 100). That would give the best image quality.
  5. Gosh, this looks to be A2A level, at least systems wise. I wonder what the flight model will be like. I kinda lowkey dislike you have to pick piston or turbine to buy.
  6. Oh bummer. I was hoping it was an issue at my end that I might be able to sort. It is definitely disappointing given this plane receives a lot of praise yet doesn't even fly properly. Does everyone just use AP or something and not trim out their planes? It's shame, because the model itself is very beautiful. Yes, I really like their CH701 and their RV-14. Not that I've ever flown anything IRL, but they feel good to fly in the sim nevertheless.
  7. I have a problem with my Kodiak. It doesn't appear to adhere to the phugoid motion. I would assume the real aircraft would. Am I wrong? Is my install corrupt? Fly cruise speed and trim the aircraft for level flight as best you can. Now let go of the elevator controls and see what she does. Mine, after a short while, will begin to pitch up or down and then continue to pitch more and more in that direction. It doesn't matter how slow or fast the aircraft gets, the nose will keep going in one direction. Every other aircraft I've tried will predictably have the nose come up when it gets more airspeed, or have the nose go down as it loses airspeed. However, the Kodiak does not. See videos below: Climbing Falling Also I notice the A/C controls don't show the desired cockpit temp, as below: And lastly the ESI500 doesn't display the airspeed properly when showing a 3 digit speed: I have reinstalled the aircraft and nothing has changed.Could you please check yours for me if you have this plane? Appreciated! Would like to know if it's a problem at my end or not.
  8. Ground textures and PG stream from the internet so likely an internet issue, either your end or MS end.
  9. Ant's Tiger Moth also has oil levels. Denarq's Beech 18 mod also IIRC.
  10. In terms of software addons, I'm not particularly worried. Tbh I doubt I'll even get 2024 until the rest of you beta test it for me! The new career mode looks cool, but I would bet my left nut that you'll have to use default planes for it. Some of those might be good though (like the Vision Jet).
  11. Wouldn't VSYNC (or lack thereof) be affecting the entire image though? Not just the boat.
  12. Personally I prefer pistons to turboprops. I like that instant response from the throttle, especially when hand flying. The Bonanza is quite a nice piston aircraft, that's fairly nippy. The Baron and DA62 are good options for twins, but views aren't as good in twins. Also keep in mind that most of the default aircraft have free enhancement mods on flightsim.to. Sometimes though, slow is fun. Take the NX Cub out for a spin in some scenic areas and you can land almost anywhere. Small grass fields, inner city parks, beaches, dry river beds, you name it. Sometimes I'll pretend to give tours in STOL aircraft and land right next to the monument (or what have you). Makes for some interesting approaches lol. GotFriends have a high performance version with NOS installed too!
  13. Shouldn't be any image quality difference. It sounds like something wasn't right on your old setup. You talk of shimmering and a lack of sharpness on your 3080. That doesn't sound right. Wonder if you had some odd settings in nVidia control panel or something, or maybe even a faulty card.
  14. Have you checked the Windows Event Log to see if there is any corresponding error log when the app crashes (probably under the Application log)?
  15. I think most people are a bit disappointed in Asobo claiming this is an expert level plane when first impressions appear to be that it's not. Imagine if I marketed a new plane as "study level" but then it wasn't anything close to that. If I release it @ $10, would that make everything ok? Maybe, but at the very least it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Anyway. I'll give it a few weeks before I make my mind up. As someone else mentioned; hard to know at this stage what is buggy and what is user error. For what it's worth, on the official forums an ATR pilot listed a very long list of inaccuracies (most of which many casual pilots probably won't care about, but it goes to show it might not really be expert level).
  16. Yeah, this bug has existed in DX12 since I can remember.
  17. I don't think the Duckworks mod updated any of the interactive checklists. You might be better off finding a custom checklist designed for the mod.
  18. @dmarques69 Long shot here, but I found extreme stuttering all of a sudden in my game and the way to fix it was to clear the rolling cache - normally I only need to do this after an update but alas it happened out of the blue. If you don't use rolling cache then ignore this. If you do, try clear it if you haven't already.
  19. I googled this, so I can't verify if it works but it looks correct.
  20. I work in IT and I'm sticking with Win10 for now. Nothing against Win11 (though I hate the new explorer context menu - but I know you can turn that off) it's just that Win10 works fine for me and will be fully supported for another couple of years. I'd upgrade if there was a Win11 feature that I really wanted, but for now all is working really well in Win10.
  21. It's different technology. FG generally has less than half the input lag of TV interpolation, and with nVidia Relfex input lag is even further reduced. It's all about the speed between the CPU and GPU. With a TV you don't have that - it's all on the TV to do what it can with the input signal. It also means TV interpolation varies a lot between brands and models. I know on my old Samsung it was just horrid, and didn't look smooth at all, let alone the input lag - but that was quite an old TV. YMMV of course. If it works for you that's great. I probably wouldn't recommend buying a TV for that purpose mind, but if you have it already, give it a try.
  22. DX12 is technically still a work in progress. AFAIK it causes excessive VRAM usage and there are bugs with ground textures popping through taxiways and runways. I guess YMMV, but with older hardware I don't see much benefit with going to DX12. Stick with DX11.
  23. Bear in mind, interpolation on TV's tend to introduce a lot input latency, which may or may not be an issue depending on what and how you fly. Worth a try nevertheless.
