  1. I Have a I7 4790K OC to 4.5 ghz on 4 cores hyperthreading off and i have a steady 60 degrees on all four cores even under load in testing with a stress test, Get a H105 liquid cooler u will get the best overclock results with that not just air u will have problems.
  2. My god last time i post in X-plane forums i will just stick to the FSX side of the Fence where the gameplay is FPS high and eye candy is amazing come to the fence if u want a chat LOL Matt
  3. Mike because i get new post i haven't seen on the main page of Avsim forums and clicked on it to see what he was saying about changing to X-Plane, So before u question about why i am on X-plane forum this is Avsim forum and i am allowed to be and post in regards to any post i choose if information i give people might help with there choices and what can be achieved So stop trying to be a hero and get off topic when there is no reason for your post, I don't care either way if u choose X-plane or FSX i have no problems with FSX and its people like u that make these froums difficult at times Matt
  4. I7 4790K is the best i Built it in my new system with a GTX 780 3 gig and also used a Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard MSI, I love the new RIG and getting awesome performance like the other guys with FTX Global and Vector and FTX Australia Regions and airports i dont see below 26FPS flying into add on airports, FSX standard airports i see about 35-40fps and this is with sliders to the right and flying the PMDG 737-800 I water cooled and overclocked the I7 4790K to 4.5ghz and was steady at didn't go over 60 degrees i could of went more but was happy with the results with FSX
  5. If they can get the new Dovetail Flight sim to look like FSX with FTX scenery, add on airports and Airbus x and PMDG aircraft to run as i have spent heaps of $$$ on it im not going anywhere from FSX and wont be buying anything from dovetail The system i have built running DX10 plays FSX so smooth with FTX Scenery and add on airports and PMDG 737 with no problem im not going away from some that has beautiful eye candy and plays smooth frame rates So show me what u got Dovetail it would want to be good
  6. i7 4790K was actually made for overclockers thats why the thermal paste was improved on it but yes can be used as stock but for overclocking in mind was the main improvements made to it from the I7 4770K
  7. I have a I7 4790K and i water cooled it and overclocked it to 4.5ghz on 4 cores with hyper threading off and stock out of the box is fine at 4.0ghz but if u really want a smooth a amazing looking FSX a overclock is a must in my recommendation, I have no problems with temperature of the I7 4790K and over-voltages it stock turbo boost to 4.4ghz but i pushed it to 4.5ghz and could of gone more but was happy at that and i see about 60 degrees on all 4 cores stable. I also have the I7 4790K matched up with a GTX 780 which is a great card for cloud rendering and helps textures etc this is a 3gig card, BUT FSX IS CPU HUNGRY. I also added the Z97 MSI gaming 5 motherboard and this motherboard alone is made for overclocking, Yes FSX will run @ 4.0ghz stock of the I7 4790K but u will see a major difference by not overclocking it to 4.5GHZ. I have all FTX Australia Regions all Australia add on airports including payware YBBN,YMML,YSCB,YBCS, ASN weather engine running, Ultimate traffic 2 @ 80% traffic setting, While running the PMDG 737-800 NGX, All FSX sliders to the right except for Autogen density which is set to very dense and @ 4.5ghz overclock i don't see below 26FPS at all so my advice is OVERCLOCK !!!!!!, oh also forgot to mention i also have FTX Global and vector also on top of that. So sum it up overclocking does make a major difference on performance and if done right u wont regret doing it.
  8. I for one wont be buying this new flight sim from Dovetail and having to pay 100s for downloads and add ons to the already 100s i have spent on add ons including aircraft for FSX which i run DX 10 and its very stable If they don't make all my FTX scenery and add on aircraft like PMDG 737 and Aerosoft A320 compatible on there new flight simulator so i can purchase there new sim and put all my add ons i have now onto the sim i wont be spending more money on add ons that i am already happy with in FSX full stop. Bad move microsoft Matt
  9. Portia911 let me know what u think about it have u installed it ?
  10. Hi guys just wondering if anyone has puchased these products and what u think of them, This will fill a good gap in my YSSY and YPAD being FSX standard airports, I know fly tampa is bringing a YSSY out but was wondering the thoughts on YPAD look nice but would like feedback Matt
  11. I have the same specs as u expect I have the GTX 780 3gig, I have PMDG 737 and FTX au regions and Au Airports also have FTX Global and Vector couldn't be happier Running DX 10 with Steve DX 10 fixer and FSX.cfg tweaks and also tweaks in the Nvidia inspector set, Getting amazing performance
  12. Anyone own this program is it worth $23 ?
  13. I turned HT off on my Intel I7 4790K and OC on 4 cores to 4.5ghz running beautiful full sliders ftx recommended settings and flying PMDG 737 NGX i don't see many FPS Below 22fps
  14. What was the issue with tesselation issue ?
  15. I have a LG LED 27" widescreen with IPD which is better colour quality, I think its great i run it at 1920 x1080 and looks beautiful I also have LCD Samsung 32" Screen and i would say when i went back to the 27" screen i didn't really like it made it not feel like a cockpit so i have gone back to the 32" screen, Its not really overkill it looks really great and i run the 32" @ 1920 x 1080 as my cockpit screen and use the LG 27" as my approach charts, sids, stars and other information screen I run GTX 780 3gig Matt
  16. There has to be something more going on here i think, I have my textures in all layers set to 1024 resolution and have ASN cloud layers at 20 the highest setting and also, REX 4 HD isn't just the problem racklefratz there has to be a setting causing it, I paid $2800 for a new system 2 months ago and i am running REX 4 HD, ASN, FTX Au Regions, FTX Au Airports, Ultimate traffic 2 and have all my sliders set to FTX recommended settings and flying the PMDG 737 NGX and i dont see below 25FPS the min i will get down too even at a add on airport is 20fps I have Steve DX 10 fixer installed was the lucky one to purchase it and did alot of hours and test flying with changing the FSX.CFG and Nvidia inspector settings and the performance im getting is amazing My PC Specs I7 4790K OC 4.5ghz on 4 cores hyper threading off H105 Liquid cooler Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard GTX 780 3gig 2 x 4 gig DDR3 Memory 2400mhz Samsung 840 series SSD 250gig 850 Watt power supply Thermotlke case I have a video on Flight Simulator X fans page on facebook showing FPS Matt
  17. Sweet i think i am going to purchase this seems like a great plane for a change from the PMDG 737 which is my most favorite aircraft of all my fleet, And having the export feature for flight plans is great i already do it in Vroute premium with the PMDG fmc Whats the frames in the Aircraft like is the FPS a killer like the PMDG 737 my PC isn't a problem as i just did a latest build a month a go and upgraded
  18. so u are saying for example i have FS2CREW for PMDG 737 and with the Aerosoft airbux extended x u don't need FS2CREW for it this is already built in as a feature of the aircraft so u have a co pilot helping with set up and flying startup etc like FS2CREW does, Is the FMC good quality too ?
  19. How do u find the Airbus extended x Compared to the PMDG 737, I fly for Qantas Virtual airlines and was thinking of purchasing another payware aircraft for some change sometimes when i fly as they do Jetstar routes on there virtual airline also code share overseas airlines so u can fly overseas and also use airbus routes can u let me know how it looks and flies in relation to my PMDG 737 and i know it may be a big call comparing it to that Matt
  20. Hi Mate i also was the lucky one to purchase Steve DX 10 fixer and also done the same and i only fly on DX 10 now i haven't gone back to DX 9, In the PMDG 737 NGX i am getting FPS from 26-45 fps in FTX Au region Scenery and at YMML airport FTX about 26-33f ps when on the runway about 27 fps steady Have u also gone threw and changed all of your settings in FSX.cfg file i made sure went threw after installing the fixer and changed alot of the cfg folder to the recommended tweaks for my system also in the nvidia inspector for my GTX 780 Matt
  21. I see his point too that REX 3 clouds do look better with the resolution up high but i agree with Avidean and the clouds look better and more realistic at lower resolution, I find in REX 4 the clouds have better density when u are flying threw thick cloud cover especially if u are looking at wing view and u can see the wing disappear and come back as u go threw thicker cloud and u cant see the ground until u descend below the clouds, In REX 3 i found the clouds would have patch places where it would open up even when u are in very thick cloud cover in the middle of it but not out of it and suddenly the ground would appear I am REX 4 all the way and think it beats REX 3 that's why i made the purchase and the jump to REX 4 Matt
  22. Hi Guys i thought i would share this info as my system is running pretty amazing with not one OOM crash in last nights testing and with scenery set quite high I have FTX AU regions installed all 4 of them including FTX Airports YBBN,YMML,YSCB,YBCS Also running Active Sky Next while on vatsim I have installed Steve DX 10 fixer (Yes i was one of the lucky ones to buy it) and done some tweaks in FSX.CFG folder and also changed settings in Nvidia inspector making sure the anti aliasing is the same in my Nvidia inspector as in the fsx.cfg and Steve dx 10 fixer what it was set too I am running all settings in FSX as FTX Setting recommended and have my scenery on Extremely Dense and my Autogen on very dense as per FTX recommended for a I7 4GHZ and above (I have a I7 4790k oc @ 4.5GHZ on 4 cores HT off) I have Light Bloom set as on for this test and after the fixer and in DX 10 mode and all the fsx.cfg Tweaking done i was flying between add on airports and the lowest i was dropping to even at the FTX Au airports in DX 10 mode was 20 fps reaching 27 fps At times on the runway and a steady 28-37 FPS at the terminals I did turn the graphics of the AU Airports down a little to help but i didn't loose much eye candy, when departing YMML and flying over the city the light bloom from ftx lights was amazing and still holding 28-40 fps Dx10 has greatly improved my FSX and i am able to fly with scenery turned up and Light bloom on with ASN controlling my weather and haven't had a crash in 4hrs of flying which i wanted to push it more to test it further but was falling asleep at the controls after last flight lol I know every one didn't get a chance to purchase the fixer but i thought i would let people know of these results i am getting in my sim and i know peoples system are different to mine. I found alot of tweaking and trialing in FSX.cfg after installing Steve dx 10 fixer has found my sweet spot i wont be going back to DX9 as DX 10 is running my system smoother and prettier than ever Matt
  23. My Qantas PMDG 737-800 Is sitting at YMML after Monday Milk run on Vatsim last night in Australia did YMML-YSCB And then return Leg YSCB-YMML Matt
  24. Active Sky Next all the way hands down , Also u dont have to set in the weather settings of FSX maximum cloud layers ASN does all of the injecting on cloud layers for u as long as u have detailed clouds ticked
