I've also reinstalled P3D countless amounts of times and did a full clean reinstall of windows 10 recently because of this. And I'm still not 100% happy with the way the latest version of P3D runs. I have to agree the performance seems worse. One thing I find frustrating is that in P3D 2.5 I was running unlimited frames for a nice smooth experience however since version 3+ I'm unable to run unlimited frames because it then pegs my GPU at 100% and stutters/pauses like mad. So I have to live with a locked 30fps which runs ok however you get that annoying stuttering effect when your turning on the ground or banking in the air. P3D was my goto sim, however since dabbling in x-plane I think thats where its at. Its frustrating. I thought maybe the 970 was getting a bit long in the tooth but then saying that the OP is running a 1080. Something definately is not playing nice on my system.

Hey Elaine, I took these from my RTH pref files located at X-Plane 10\Resources\plugins\FlyWithLua\Scripts. Feel free to navigate there and replace the text in a RTH_Prefs_*.txt file with this text. Hopefully that should work for you. I have four sets of settings saved that I got of various twitch streamers and that one ^ is my favourite. If you have any problems getting it to work I can screenshot the settings directly from the sim. I hope you like these I think its just right. Adjust the settings for the night lights to your personal taste, bloom, intensity etc. If you do it at night you can see what the light settings do in real time. Hope this helps. Joe

Take my money! was ready to upgrade to a 980TI from my 970 but now I will go straight for the 1080.

I'm using the latest driver for my 970.

I haven't tested the suggestion by Marshall, but I'm running a 970 with HDR on with 4xSSA + FXAA and this already has a hard effect on my GPU going through clouds. I darent think about adding anything in NI.

Hello All!, I recently got into x-plane (so i could fly the ixeg 737 ) and I've downloaded HD mesh v3 and UHD mesh v1 to spruce up the scenery a bit and I've installed it. I was curious if you can just replace the default global scenery files with it? rather than having both taking up loads of HDD space. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Joe

Interesting, but I don't buy it either. After my extensive testing on my system, using no AM with HT on results in a lower frame rate and greater VAS usage. Each to their own I guess! Your tests really don't seem to be that accurate. For a start your not using the exact same scenario for each trial. The change in weather/clouds alone can change your FPS.

I must admit I reverted to 3.1 last night as I thought it would fix this issue but it didn't. It looked the same. Maybe I just never noticed it before!

Yeah it is really ugly and it apparently has something to do with the way P3D V3.2 renders fog.
