  1. What I noticed going from FSX:SE to V3 and then V4 - Much smoother, even with comparably low framerates (ie 20's) P3D is a lot smoother than FSX, less stutters. - Better performance - P3D offloads more to the graphics card so you will want a decent one but because of this frame rates are better. Bear in mind though that P3D has a lot more graphic options that FSX doesn't which can add to the workload. - Less crashes for no reason (even in V3) - No more OOM's! For me this was the biggest reason to go to V4. No more time wasted managing scenery to make sure you don't crash due to memory. This is just my experience, I'm sure others can add.
  2. You might have seen this, but if not, maybe send Ryan an email and he can probably give you an idea of what you will need.
  3. So without getting all worked up about this - from what I can tell, his 3rd party content server he uses has failed him. Hardly his fault, sounds like he is looking for another provider. Stuff happens! Sure, he could be a bit better at explaining what is going on but he has a notice on his front page making it clear most products can't be downloaded so I'm not sure what more you expect from him other than a bit more info. If you REALLY need the products you can't download, log into your FSS account, grab the purchase details, shoot an email to the developer including your purchase details and what file you need and I am sure they will get back to you promptly with updates/products you wish to download. Sorry but informing other people that the site isn't fully functional is great but wasting time spreading innuendo and opinions about how someone else runs their business isn't going to solve anyone's problems.
  4. I read elsewhere that since Orbx moved to direct sales the team has scaled down at FSS to just Adrian on his own, hence why things seem to take a bit longer. I've had to contact him as well for a couple of updates that were overdue and he has eventually gotten back to me with the updated files each time. The last time I had to contact him he got back to me within 3-4 days. Have you tried contacting him via Facebook/Messenger? FSS have a page on there and that might get you a quicker response.
  5. I've been using UT Live for about 11 months and apart from some crashes early on (that version has since been updated) it has been trouble free for me for more than 6 months since I last set it up. For the most part, I'm happy to buy into an 'early access' if the whole thing is transparent but the downside is there is rarely a time limit on this. To be fair, UT Live is more than acceptable in it's current state, the only functions yet to come are updated liveries and the power pack to help install them. There are some forum members who have provided the tools to do this until the power pack arrives. Being a UT2 customer you are eligible to a 33% discount on UTL so that might be worth considering.
  6. If you are keen on Orbx then the FlyBe idea is good. Airline2Sim did a set of line flights using a mixture of Orbx and UK2000 airports along with the England and Scotland regions. For Q400 flights there are plenty of options with these regions.
  7. I'm not aware of a better KLAX other than FSDreamTeam's - as far as I can tell (using charts etc) it is up to date regarding gates & taxiways. So in short, if you are looking for a KLAX, their version is the go to. I'm not sure if it is still the case but if you run Orbx Socal, you may need to download a small compatibility file to ensure photoreal beach shows up. https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/107942-sca-compatibility-with-fsdreamteam-klax/ Other than that, I've been very happy with it!
  8. Good news really. Interesting that Nvidia are claiming it is due to disimformation....
  9. To add to what TechguyMaxC is saying - along with running the sim and the display (windows) the same resolution as your monitor (1080p), if the text is too small you can adjust the scaling in windows to text etc larger. If your monitor is 1080p then you definitely want to run windows and the sim at the same resolution.
  10. Have you considered Aerosoft’s Twin Otter? It comes with an interactive checklist to aid in getting the plane set up. Follow the list and it will check items off as you go or you can just click the item and it is taken care of for you.
  11. It is a bit tricky to set up the first time around - I remember being in the same situation as you and went back to default but second time around it was brilliant when I figured out how to use it. It makes quick flight setup much easier, loading all the necessary add on programs etc. Hope you have another crack at it soon.
  12. Great resource. My take? Well it is a P3D V4 compatibility map, not a ‘limited selection of airports we like map.’ I would think it is worth having all compatible airports on there and let individuals decide if they think an airport is worth paying for or not.
  13. Thanks for the heads up! Feels like it has been a while since we have had many sales.
  14. I have my joystick setup with the disconnect through P3D, no FSUIPC required. I used the instructions in this document: https://s3.amazonaws.com/PMDG_Downloads/file_library/documentation/PMDG_747-400_TRC_Lesson1.ZIP This is from the ‘downloads’ section on the PMDG website if you want to navigate there yourself, it includes instructions on how to setup TO/GA and AP Disconnect etc. Hope this helps.
  15. There is a Capt Pero forum on here or you could try the Aerosoft forum for support. He is usually quite helpful even if it is a day or so back to you. Simstarter is a brilliant program when you get it working. I had similar issues to you, a reinstall doesnt fix it as the changes that caused the issue seem to linger. My suggestions: Delete fsx.cfg or whatever it is called (Ive forgotten) run FTX central and ask it to run the unify scenery again (I think that is what it is called) See if that gets you back to default. It sounds to me like a scenery libary issue though, I would use SimStarter again and check the scenery librar6 entries are all there and in the correct order. Hope this helps!
  16. I think the Razbam Metro came with a checklist, I can't remember though as it has been a while. Start, Taxi & Takeoff - Preflight -
  17. Can also add that I’ve just started experiencing the same issue, ctd around the same point on westbound atlantic flights. Did you end up disabling all of vector or was there a particular setting you were able to narrow it down to? Sorry for jumping on an old thread.
  18. These are brilliant, thank you for doing these. Looking forward to more!
  19. Welcome back - great to have you back on deck. Looking forward to more programs 🙂
  20. According to their forums, they are currently working on a V2 of their Australia region using a lot of the new tech they have learnt since they first released it. There is a thread or two over at Orbx about it. Hope this helps!
  21. 1080p on a GTX 1070 - wouldn't mind going to 1440 but not sure how the 1070 will take it.
  22. This is actually much better than I thought it would be - great program. I'm not too sure on the calculations though - it's telling me that a loaded 744 can't take off from a 3500m runway as it isn't long enough so perhaps some config files need adjusting for weights? Otherwise great program!
  23. Thanks for the update Ben, hope you are doing well. Looking forward to move videos whenever they come.
