December 10, 201015 yr Commercial Member It would only be misleading if it wasn't true, but since VF-1 and VF-2 took the F-14A on the type's first operational tour of duty on board the USS Enterprise in 1975, providing air cover during Operation Frequent Wind, then it most certainly did serve in the Vietnam War. 'Serving' doesn't necessarily mean having shot anything down, otherwise the vast majority of fighter pilots since WW2 wouldn't be classed as having served either, since most of them haven't shot anything down either. Because we know that the USS Enterprise wasn't sunk by any NVA aircraft, then it follows that it apparently served in its CAP role successfully.AlOK, that sounds reasonable. Cheers Paul Golding

December 10, 201015 yr This page is all you should need to check each day. Current "$5 frenzy" item is listed.http://www.irisfss.com/storefront/index.phpJohnThanks. Pilot error.
December 10, 201015 yr Author Moderator Actually the F-20 does work in FSX even if you don't have Acceleration, the HUD won't work without Acceleration, but since there are standby panel instruments that give you the same info, that's not big deal. And it's perfect for policing miscreants in FSX:AlHa ha, funny cartoon you made Al. Good to know though about the F-20 and Accel. I was actually thinking of getting the BD-5 which states that it also requires Accel to be installed, but since it doesn't have a HUD I wonder what wouldn't work if I installed it into SP2?You'll have to check their site a couple of times a day till the sale endsRonNo need to check a couple times a day. The sale changes every day at 09:00 GMT. Check once a day after that time and you wont miss anything. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

December 11, 201015 yr Todays $5 special is:Pro Series DA-40 Diamond Star XLSI actually might get this one, but I would like to hear from someone who already owns it first.Me too. :( Either this or Twin Star. Which one is better anf gives better fps? Yes, they are almost freeware but I will buy only one of them. I don´t want to have any a/c on my hard disk if I don´t fly them!
December 11, 201015 yr I bought it, and i can say definitely worth the price! Flight model seems believable, model is great, only fps hit is the G1000 gauges. With quick test flight done, i'd say go for it! For 5$ anyway, great value.
December 11, 201015 yr Yup, this one's another winner, especially for the price. It has a very nice model, the sounds are pretty convincing and it has a nice VC which gets pretty good frame rates considering it has all those big glass displays. Definitely worth a shot if you are on the lookout for a modern single GA aircraft to go alongside your good old Cessna 172.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

December 12, 201015 yr I did buy Diamond Star. Yes, it is worth the money but I must say I´m happy I didn´t pay more than 5$ for that. Not even close to the quality of Carenado/RealAir/Lionheart/A2A...

Not even close to the quality of Carenado/RealAir/Lionheart/A2A...Yeah, I ended up passing on the Diamond Star. I felt the same way about the F-14, flew it once for about 20 minutes and that was that, lol.Out of all the stuff they sell, I think the only one left that I will buy is the A-10 once it comes around to $5. I would buy the BD-5 for a fun little plane, but it requires Accel to be installed, which I dont have, and I am not sure exactly what wont work by trying to use it in SP2. It seems that most a/c that require Accel to be installed need it for the HUD, but since the BD-5 has no HUD, i'm not sure exactly what guage it needs from Accel. I would ask on their forums, but their forums are really laggy on my internet computer for some reason. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 12, 201015 yr You should definitely take a look at the videos for the Vulcan B2 which IRIS produced if you think they can't make decent stuff. That one most certainly is worth the full price, and if they knock that one out at 5 Bucks, it'll be like stealing. At a guess, the BD-5 probably uses the enhanced engine modeling which acceleration has.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
