No you didn't hear "no TIR Support" :) Natural Point did have some problems getting a 64 bit driver out initially, but I think the last version of their software fully supports 64 bit, anyway, you have the choice of installing a 32 bit version of A-10, but that shouldn't be necessary as long as you don't for some reason insist on keeping the old TIR software. :)Further on, this is the Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Lambo and Aston Martin all in one of Combat Sims, simply outstanding, the in depth simulation will keep you occupied for years, and are extremely stable in Multi player mode, I'm almost exclusively playing it in MP, and have to say that their to MP is the best in the business, very easy to set up servers and join, with the possibility for searching specific IP's if you don't find the expected server right away.Excellent support from the developers, and a very friendly an fun support forum with a very high ceiling for questions and joking, there are some epic Hasselhoff threads buried in that forum :)This is one sim that I can recommend to anybody liking complex sims, and if you liked Falcon 4, you will love this. And as a side note, if your into Helicopters, pick up their Black Shark sim also, same in depth simulation but in a russian combat heli, extremely fun and challenging, and will also be patched up to a compatibility level of the A10 sim, wich will give us the possibility of connecting both sims in the same COOP environment.Cheers

Like everyone else has said, DCS A-10C all the way. Just pull out your credit card right now and buy it, then buy DCS Blackshark as well, because that also rocks, but in a rotary winged way. Both are excellent, and you won't find better systems or flight modelling for combat aircraft.

Bought it two days ago. Seriously, get it! I'm amazed by it so far. Sure, I haven't even come as far as taking off yet, I have only come as far as starting up the aircraft. but hell, those sounds are impressive! I rarely hear in FS sounds that are that good. Graphics are also very nice (that A-10C pit looks very good!), but the best is the systems of course and the simulation of the world. I have waited ages for an A-10 sim to take over that other combat flightsim that I had played to death years ago, A-10 Cuba/A-10 Attack. Both of them had a great flight model. DCS's A-10C just tops all other sims I know in just about every respect. Must be the combat sim of the year, if not the decade (depending on what DCS will release this decade, of course. I've already heard talk about another game of which they still need to decide what plane they will do. I sort of hope it will be a Russian plane or a F/A-18C. Yeah yeah, I know the VRS Superbug and I have it, but FS remains a civil sim for me, not a combat one).

I know it and I'm sure it will be great, but no matter what you add to FSX, it's still FSX.

Good question RonDoes anything out there come even remotely close to Falcon 4.0?
Dean - DCS:W - a complete A-10C sim. Doesn't beat Falcon (OF4.7), but is right there with it.DCS:BS is equally good, and is a simulation of a Russian attack helicopter, the Ka-50.The flight dynamics of both are outstanding and make MSFS feel positively dead. After a couple of hours with these you'll know what I mean.** Seperate rudder pedals/axis is a MUST for DCS:BS! Don't buy if you don't have it. ** My Black Shark is currently grounded pending acquisition of some rudder pedals.http://www.eagle.ru/ for both.I also highly recommend the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS. Built like the flying tank it was designed to control. I expect to be using it 10 years from now. Will make your operation of the A-10C as close to reality as you can get, and is a must IMHO to properly operate the sim. If you have any cash left over, get the Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack, too. Will make operation of the MFDs a breeze as well (works in Falcon and DCS:W). The sim works with the HOTAS out of the box.http://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=221&PlatformID=5 - TM Warthog HOTAShttp://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=168&PlatformID=5 - TM MFD Cougar PackBest regards,Robin.

Or get the Saitek X52 Pro or Saitek 65F if you have the money to shell out on the best joystick money can buy.I personally use the x65F right now and I absolutely love it. Works just like the real thing, stick doesn't move but senses how much force you put on it and causes the plane to move accordingly. The F-16 was the first fighter jet to use this I believe.

Ron, I have TrackIR5 with the clip pro and it didn't work at first. A quick update to the 5.1 beta Track IR software and it works a treat. It's a brilliant simulation and has nicely filled a gap before NGX release!

Everyone forgot about the thirdwire series, Strike Fighters! It's cheap, has tons of addons, dynamic campaign, and great support! http://www.thirdwire.com/The best of all? you get to fly in F-14's, Phantom's and even Super Sabre's! Yeah, this sounds like a promo post, but trust me, it is worth every penny!Ricardo de Paula

Obviously I googled it smartass. I wanted to know what YOU guys where liking, and thought what was good vs not good. Thanks for the useless replies though!

How does DCS compare performance wise to fsx?

I am loving the A-10 so much...it's all I've been doing lately. It's a high class sim and performance is perfect. I mean there are no stutters and FPS is high enough that it always looks perfectly smooth. (In FSX i get 15-25 average FPS in the PMDG birds for those trying to compare). The documentation is a bit lacking in regards to checklists/walkthroughs but I found a good start up checklist in their forums. All I have done so far is the training missions and a couple instant flights as I still try to learn. The tutorials are pretty good but there could be at least one or two more. I've gotten good at taking off/landing/releasing weapons but as far as how to actually fly a mission from start to finish I'm still clueless.

It was on the prototypes, but the pilots hated it so they modified it to have 1/4" deflection from center.Best regards,Robin.
