Re: NGX impending release: Are we there yet?

Featured Replies

I thought 1 week was a short vacation, 2 weeks a good vacation. Does a "short-term vacations" have a diffrenent meaning in the states?
As FS has a large European following, I would assume "Short term vacation" meant 4-6 weeks. Given the lack of employment laws in the U.S. mandating vacation for employees, a short term vacation is usually measured in hours in the States.

It said not to plan any short-term vacations, and most people I know don't plan vacations just a few days before they leave. This could mean release probably could be any time within the next 3 or 4 months. Of course, I think that we're all looking too far into little comments like this. Hopefully there won't be many problems in beta and we'll see the NGX before the end of the month.

End of the month is unlikely. My original estimate was end of June.

Where are the litigators when you need them...Robert said not to "PLAN any short term vacations", not TAKE any short vacations.Personally, I plan an average vacation from 4-12 months in advance. So I suppose if I were planning a "short term vacation", it would be a vacation I plan to take in the next four months.

Funny but not surprising, I hope this doesn't start a frenzy of the wrong kind of comments but I don't understand why PMDG staff remain adamant that they don't set deadlines and then go and say stuff like beta should start this week or next. Why say anything about it till it's actually reached that point. It's happened on a couple occasions regarding release dates, updates etc and I just think it serves no purpose to say anything about it if those deadlines aren't met. Talk about creating a rod for your own back. I appreciate the information provided etc but I only when its accurateMike kendall
I agree with this completely.

Short term is has different meanings to different people.I can say short term and it could mean 2 months and to someone else it coiuld mean 2 years.Lets just wait and see what it means for PMDG.The manuals came in December and its only mid April now. JeffG

Yup! None of us have any stake in this. It's a software addon that'll increase the pleasure of running FSX. We're all anxious to see it released, but all this nitpicking of every word posted by PMDG only increases the anxiety/impatience. I mean be honest, 5 years from now will it really matter if you got to run this plane in may or december? It'll release when it releases & until then I'll just continue to worry only about real-world issues like my job & trying to close on a new ranch for my wife... I swear if I ever need a lawyer the first place I'll check is this forum!! Big%20Grin.gif

I agree as well.I said this before in the thread but I'll say it again. I would prefer PMDG uses Level-D's method which is absolutely no information whatsoever unless you have something concrete to show, i.e. screenshots/videos/content, a confirmed beta start time, or a release date. All the small stuff in between such as "beta was supposed to start this weekend but we'll see on monday" is nice, but all it does is get expectations and high hopes up for a short while before they come crashing back down when there's nothing else to deliver in 2+ weeks.I'm all for waiting like the next guy, but stop giving us the carrot on the stick. It's agonizing!

I'm still thinking positive. They said they would announce Beta after they started, which very well could have been on Monday.

In my defense, I corrected that post a few hours later when Ethan told me that was wrong. Take a look: My previous postMy post corrected
Actually I was pointing more at the second sentence where you said you expected beta to start in about a week. The way you originally worded the whole post made it sound like there was some official announcement that beta would be in a week. Now I can see that was your personal estimate. Not a problem.

I don't get it, how long does it take for beta to start? If its on monday doesn't that mean its started?Joe Barton
