PMDG 737 NGX Approach Checklist, please!

GuysStop those assumptions what the 737NGX will cost. PMDG in the their past posts mentioned that when the beta is more or less done they would give us a price. So just wait and don't assume prices. To assume makes an &@($* out of u and me.Thx Ian
Well, respectfully, you're not a moderator and I don't see what harm it does to discuss it. Until they deputize you as a moderator, I'd suggest not trying to tell others what to do. If PMDG has a problem with the topic, I'm sure they'll let that be known.
FB can get their servers and throw them in the trash. AVSim's servers can't hold too much traffic because the number of users is very low compared to other networks out there.
From what I saw yesterday, the server was having issues with only 60 people viewing the PMDG forum. I don't think it will take much to crash the forum. Not to mention with iFly's release today, I'm sure that will drive up traffic as well.-john rodgers

By "FB" I was refering to Facebook, not AVSim. ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, Mods, but I think this forum is the place to do it.

Hello, I was wacthing the second video and I have a question for Mr. Randazzo:" When landing on a dry runway like you did is it still recomended to use the crab technique like you did there for the landing?" When landing on a dry runway shouldn't you de-crab when flaring? Is it best to crab like you did only on very slippery runways?I'm not questioning your skills in anyway, I'm just seeking clarification from someone who knows better than me on the subject, thanks!!!David Di Domizio

Actually we would very much prefer if the speculation about pricing would stop - we don't allow discussion of pricing or business decisions, it's in the forum rules. No one knows a thing about the pricing right now, anyone who says they do is making stuff up - just wait for the announcement please!

The pilot should always de crab right before touchdown....it relieves the loads on the labding gear. Im sure rsr wasnt going for a greaser or a perfect landing.

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

I thought so myself...., but on a crosswind landind and if in presence of a slippery runway would it be more acceptable to use that technique since it could reduce the workload for the pilot just prior to landing and it would of course stress the main landing gear a lot less...Just digging into the subject a little more for a better understanding...I really can't wait any longer for this baby to rollout!!!Thanks,David Di Domizio

the workload of de-crabbing is pretty much non-existent. It's a skill a pilot learns so early in his/her training that its second nature and more of an after thought. Now in cases were there are extremely strong crosswinds, the pilot will really be thinking about it but not so much where it affects workload. Think about it. At that phase in the landing, the pilot is really only concentrating on flying the airplane. all the checks would be done way before then. There shouldn't be any strenuous workload on the pilot flying. Not de-crabbing on any runway surface could have bad consequences, the gear could get really screwed up. On a wet runway, if the nose of the plane is in a bigger crab angle than usual, once you touchdown, you could loose directional control because the plane isn't lined up with the runway anymore.

David,If you search back you will find that I had similar question about this video to RR and he had replied. He said he on purpose "planted" the aircraft without de-crabbing to test if such landing resulted in the situation that was controllable. Yes, normally you de-crab at about 100-150 ft above the runway.

I would like to think the same thing. Problem is, a lot of average pilot's cross wind techniques just are not up to par. Trust me. :( Heck, while I'm at it a majority find 2,500' (regardless of trees) short. :rolleyes:I can't wait to see how the NGX handles in crosswinds.

Love the new VC pics on Facebook! Awesome!http://www.facebook....165758250130634
Plus some United paints. But I'm more interested in the VC as well haha... Big%20Grin.gif Would like some checklists on the yokes though, maybe there's an option for it.sig.gifBTW - I'm wondering why they can't fit the SATCOM aerial (or is it internet? dunno, at least the big thing on the upper rear) somehow under the aircraft skin instead of putting that big thing on top. Just curious because only recently they had this new fuel-saving design change for the anti collision light (and a few other improvements IIRC), think that was also posted here on the forum. Now that aerial is like ten fold bigger than that new beacon, rendering its fuel efficiency quite useless...!?

I would think there's just not enough space without it hanging down into the cabin. Plus all the wiring and air conditioning ducts that are probably up there. But that's just a guess on my part.

2500ft huh? for me that take some getting used to....is it do-able?.....of course! Sounds like fun! Im at an airport with a 4000ft rwy. offers just enough space for a small jet while puttin some hair on your chest when the density alt. gets a little high.

I keep flitting between these forums and PMDG's Facebook site. On FB they have a great cockpit shot and even show the yoke retracted/lowered to enable an uninterupted view of the CDU - I never knew it could do that.I would post the picture but my internet is too slow.
